  1. I've had good luck using my homemade version of Outer's Foul Out system.

Now this sounds more like my speed, any more detail on your potion?

Midway caries both the Foul Out system and the chemicals alone. You use different solutions for lead and copper.

  2. Bob was awesome. A great guy and tremendously active-- the first guy to get tearing down and the last to leave the range, at an age most of us would be happy to even get out of bed.

Somebody that was there has to write up the story of his open gun. That had to be one of the coolest things ever.

Bob's son and the CTRPC club members purchased the parts to build an open gun. The frame had a custom serial number that was Bob's birthdate. Dave Dawson contributed the labor and build a Signature Series Mini-gun Stroker and had it hard chromed. The next match Dawson shows up with the pistol. Dave asked Bob to shoot the gun in the match because it needed to be broken in. Bob does as Dave asked and shot very well. After the match Bob goes to give the pistol back. Dave takes it, looks at the serial number and says that STI got the serial number wrong and hands the pistol back to Bob and tells him he might as well keep it.

That is the short and dirty version

  3. My question is does anybody actually expect bullet prices to come down? Personally, I don't. I fully expect them to stay where they are, just not go up.

I think that is why you don't see to many zero bullets available right now. They are waiting until they can make a fortune when the lead prices go down and their prices stay the same.

Actually they have had several very large orders from ammo companies that have taken most of the production. Fiocchi ordered several million 9mm's to load. Also even with the increase in orders they have not added a second shift. I doubt the wisdom of not expanding the workforce to meet current demand, but they don't like to hire workers on a temporary basis. They try to keep people for the long run. Just my $0.02.

  4. So do any other manufacture's sights fit the Steyr dovetails? Does anyone know the demensions of the dovetails? The only aftermarket sights I can find for the Steyr are PT night sights. Not my cup of tea . . .

You would think Steyr would have the forsight to use a non-proprietary dovetail cut.

Can a smith re-cut the dovetails to be a standard demension?

I am fairly certain that the front dovetail will take a Sig brand front sight, though I don't have the gun here to check. Have one EERW?

I have heard of the Heine Slant Pros being modified to fit in such a way that it looks factory.

    sorry ..no gun handy..

I'm sure Dawson would be willing to make a sight to fit if he had a request. It would just be editing a part program. Then you could have fiber front and rear or night sights or whatever you wanted.

  5. Thanks. I simply can't understand the fascination with something where you cannot effect an outcome, nor are you affected by the outcome in any way except for ensuing celebratory riot.

And did I mention that all sports rioters should be shot?

I would vote for double knee capping followed by dominant elbow, but I'm just feeling generous and compassinate today.

  6. Thanks for the responses. I have occasionally been finding this bullet for sale up until last year. The 200 gr. Gold Dot just does not have that wide a hollow point, which is what I want. I have seen a 200 gr. "revolver" Gold Dot Hollow Point listed for sale (I think from Midway) which they claim has a cannelure and I presume the wider, sharper nose profile common to the revolver Gold Dot bullets. But then this isn't listed on the Speer website either!

    Dave Sinko

I have a box of Speer 200 gr JHP's from about 20 years ago. What is the stock number of the "flying ashtray"? That's probably what these are.

It is easy to tell if it is a flying ashtray. Take a pencil with eraser, if the eraser fits in the hollow point it is a flying ashtray.
