Dawson makes a mainspring housing ( MSH ) that is shorter and allows the reduction of the rear of the grip. Of course you could just chop the plastic MSH and do the rear reduction without buying a new one.

Just to be un-helpful, but I usually repartition and reformat the hard drive on a new computer, then load only what I want.

One thing to remember about spot prices on metals, the foundry may have several hundred thousand pounds of metal in stock at a higher price than the current spot price and they are not going to loose money to match the spot price. Also unless you are dealing directly with MG or Zero, the vendor may have purchased the bullet at a higher price and they are not going to loose money either. They bullet side of the lead market is a very small part of the overall market, Car batteries are a much larger segment, and the ammo factories are much bigger than the reloading segment. If metal prices stay low, then our prices will fall. It will just take a while.

What is the status on your Mag tuning kits?
Thanks
Best way to find out is to call.

Dave has been really busy, but the slide cuts were finished tonight. The slide weighs about what a 5 in slide weighs. It needs to be prepped and blued, then the pictures will get taken. I don't like slides that are all chopped up, but I like what Dave did to this one. The CNC is all programmed so the next one can go much faster, actually it will take longer to re-blue the slide than to cut it. One of the advantages to helping out at the shop is getting to see stuff before anyone else ( actually see it get designed ).
Happy Labor Day everyone,

I installed a DRO from http://www.dropros.com/ for one of my customers last year. It was low cost compared to an Acu-rite and seems to be working just fine.

When Dawson puts the scope mount on he uses loctite 620. It is green and rather thick. To remove it you have to use a torch to break it free, but oil and grease don't touch it.

Supposedly the long awaited TiteFit slidepins are on their way to me. Talked to the shop today about it. The same shop who makes my 2 firing pins also makes my new Titefit slidepin. And they have the drawings to make the FOP sight. I told them I want it for the US limited nationals. They said sure... and of course things always take longer than we want... but I'll use the whip to get them as soon as possible.
Have you considered talking to Dawson to get any of your parts made? He has an awesome set up to make sights, magwells and basepads, as well as other parts. He is/was making some rear sights for one of the sight makers to help with some delivery issues they were having, can not remember which.

I built a new short gun top end for my STI 5" Open gun
shortned STI slide
KKM 4 1/4 Bull Barrel
Bedell comp
All other required parts
Gun functions ok, with the problems - 50 rounds function fire
4-5 stove pipes & extreme galling of upper lugs of slide
Tried 9-10-11 # recoil springs
3N38 -4756 - silouette -125 zero JHP
All produced same problems
NEED HELP
See a pistol smith. Might be a link problem, of course what do I know, if fix machine tools for a living.

It has been suggested before and I'll add it here. Talk to the other open shooters that you see. Most will be happy to let you try their pistols. That way you may be able to find one you like better than all the others.

The "Pre-ban" length of the SV tube is 130 mm. I have one that looks like what you found. The Dawson +2 base pad works on it to bring it to 140 mm. I'm sure some of the other pads would work as well since Dawson discontinued the +2 base pad.

Typically, what size shot do you use for the 12 ga to kill the spiders? Personally I like #4's.
ALL SPIDERS MUST DIE, except the non-poisonous ones, which means, ALL SPIDERS MUST DIE!

WHAT? you mean you don't need 6 170's and 24 140's. How did I go so wrong? =;-)
Huston, you are the only guy I know who does not reload mags between stages.
Thats me
Huston,
With that many mags do you even have to reload between MATCHES??
Would you be interested in trading any of those mags - I've got several rifles, Lots of AR stuff, and a bunch of other assorted gun stuff that I could bring to the table. If you're interested, let me know and maybe we can work something out.
Thanks,
Doug
NO, NO, NO. ALL MINE. MINE. MINE.
There, there, my precious, you know I'd never let any of you go.
Actually It just kind of happened that way, single, in the military and getting re-enlistment bonuses allowed me to buy pistols with accessories, like at least 5 mags each. My first " STI " frame was bought from Chip McCormick and is marked Tripp Research, and I still have it. And I still have every 2011 frame or gun I've ever bought except two and one of those went to a friend as a Christmas present.
The AW Ban and mag restriction came along and all of those actual pre-ban mags made me a little obsessive about it. I really like the pre-bans better. If you need some STI 140 38 mags, maybe we can talk at a Waco match. Or if you want to borrow some to shoot a match before you get all of yours we can squad together and use whatever you need.
And I like to reload mags just once then not re-use them till the next match,( or maybe the match after that ). I figure I could just about do that for anything short of the World Shoot.

So does that leave ONLY the 126mm mags?
I believe it leaves 10 rd mags only. There used to be 10 rd 140mm mags. Now there are only 126mm 10rd mags. I think you could use either if you can find the older ones. They might work better with the current big magwells.

What's so unusual about it? I like the tacticals! Nice gun. Just need a small black alum. magwell on it and you're good to go!
On mine the unusual part is the factory adjustable tritium sights and it's marked " Tactical US ". Only made 175 of those.

You know the blast out of you comp makes those things vaporize, um, not that I'd do anything like that, but, ALL SPIDERS MUST DIE HORRIBLE DEATHS.
I didn't realize there was so much Arachniphobia on this forum.
I didn't have a problem with spiders until I got bitten by one.

I have several 38 SC, and one 9mm. I shoot the 38 more and will use the 9 on a lost brass match.

The smartest thing for the big three to do is stop selling in the US. They make more on the cars they produce and sell outside of the US.
