Welcome to the forums. Info abounds here and glad you enjoy shooting sports with your son

Shoot a match with friends, then pulled pork sandwich topped with slaw and a cold beer while giving excuses about all the charlies you had

Arkansas. It is so much better since Bill and Hillary left!

I too have the issue of needing readers for the front sight. My distance is not the best either 58yrs young. Visiting a optometrist in a couple of days. Hoefully he can help. I have used readers for several years but hoe maybe a option (surgery) can be utilized

The safety walk tape works very well. I cut it for the sides of my glocks and cut strips for the finger grooves replace it twice a year. Also put a strip of it on the front strap of my 1911. It does not eat u your hands. A lot cheaper than precut

I am very late starting this game 58. I just enjoy it. Still unclassified but enjoy the camaraderie. I enjoy reloading so its a win win for me even when im the last name on the score sheet

Oooppss welcome to the forum

I would say 650 out of the box immediatley. I made a mistake and purchased another beand progressive, discouraged with it and purchased a 650 two weeks ago. I have not looked back

Welcome. I too am a noob with Dillon. Opted for the 650. Love blue kool-aid

My learning curve in this sport has been expensive, mostly because I get impatient, but then again, you can never have too many guns!
Well said armydad. Mine has become an addiction. My wife said I dont want a gun collection! I asked here how many is a collection? Next purchase bigger safe

I have had my 650 running for 3 days now. Totally love it! Make sure you get case feeder. Adapted hornady case feeder still have typical issues with there case feeder.
-
I do enjoy my new 650 too. Such a pleasure to run.

The red machine I have been referring to is a Hornady Lock N Load..the primer system on it was a total nightmare. Always needing tinkering with

I too have a keeper wife. She would see the headache and grumbling I would have with the RED machine and asked what else was out there? last night I ran rounds through the Dillon 650. I too let her run a few rounds through it while I visited the water closet. she said "thats easy" blue kook-aid taste good!
-
So I loaded up some first rounds last night. the first 50 were very slow, adjusting things like the bell, powder check and just what is expected. then WOW it just ran and ran. no primer feed issues as with the red machine, no little nuances to take me away from producing rounds. so glad I purchased extra primer tubes! did not take long to produce 500 rounds. Thanks Dillon Precision

Driveshaft he did set it up for me. I spent an hour with him and he showed me many things. One thing I did do with this machine is opt for the powder check. I have also experienced some squib loads and they are not fun. also like you I did not do a tap rack either, the load did not cycle and It was at the range so not in a hurry running a stage. One thing I hate is when a range officer screams STOP. I have seen this happen more than once and it is something I listen for is the little pffffttttt instead of bang. I placed the dillon next to the RED machine and it shed a tear, or was it sweating knowing it's days were numbered..

I am picking up my 650 this evening. I am jumping off the red wagon. The dealer here set it up so all I have to do is bolt it to the bench set the dies fill primers, powder and cases. I debated whether to have him set it up (no charge) or set it up myself for there is knowledge gained from setting one up and you need knowledge for the red one! I am sure I will be searching the site for answers to the questions I will have.. I will be loading 9mm and 40 with 45 real soon too. I will be late tonight ..lol

I too have a 35. But enjoy shooting my Lowly STI Spartan. I shoot the Spartan much better than the 35, so I do see a 40 S&W 1911 in my future too..
-
I like TTI they are so simple to install. Of course the red looks good
-
Enjoy my Dawson sights on my 34 they are the 300 tall with adjustable sights. I did have a issue with the Loctite. Redid it and no issues. Blade tech holster and no drag issues. Adjustable sights the only way to go
-
In my 35 I can't run a lighter Striker spring unless I load federal primers. It run's about 10% light strikes. I have just come to the fact unless I install a longer striker pin I can't use other primers.
-
I too say pull the bullets. Weighing is futile. My "friend" has had the same outcome my "friend" also now has a squib rod in his range bag. It happens
-
It sounds like you just want to have fun with this. I too shoot 3 different guns classified in just one. 58 yrs young shooting for a year now just love the outing. Fortunately one of the local clubs shoot the match twice so I can shoot 2 classes. Just enjoy your time
