Welcome Dave to the forum, greetings from the midwest.

Welcome to the addiction. Does it ever end? nope just a bigger safe!

I have been recently had a pair of glasses make with my dominate eye set for front sight focus with left eye set for minimal distance and I wear them about 10 minutes before eyes adjust to the un normal vision correction. previous to that I used a 1.50 full lens safety glasses. It does make front sight focus much better.

So I have to say I just had a very favorable interaction with STI. I have a Trojan in .40 which has not had favorable reviews for quite some time, lots of feeding issues. I had resolved the problem by loading long 200gr hardball coated bullets and the raised mag catch. It was reasonably reliable but would not feed RNFP bullets with any reliability. Sent it off last week after talking with Shawn and he told me to send it in. Received it back today and after they reshaped the barrel ramp and polished it this fed Winchester white box ammo. Very happy with the quick warranty work.
One can assume that they are taking action to get in the right direction!

I have run the WC 45 mags in my Trojan and they work well.. full disclosure... I run hardball round nose bullets for reliable feeding
If you are running them for L-10 the Tripp mags can't be beat

Welcome back from your hiatus! There are lots of ways to get back into the groove. One of the easiest ways to and least expensive to start is a Steel Challenge Match, or a USPSA match in your local area too! Show up at one the local matches and participate. You will find a willingness from people there to make sure your experience is a safe and fun adventure.

MBX no issues at all.. I have used Canadian mags with Taylor Freelance and had to work them a bit.. MBX Stick em and shoot em

It took only one match for me to find it lots of fun. As you said the different transition skills needed for the stages is a great Skills regime and you can find your weakness's to. and draw practice is a requirement, definitely.

There is a weight difference between the Shadow 2 and a SP-01 with a small difference between the width. The Stock 2 would come closer in grip size. I have a Shadow 2 and SP-01 and have Bogie palm swell grips and make the width similar. Enjoy the sport and savor the addiction.

Welcome to the forum. And tell us about your first match and your addiction that will soon follow

I have 2 CZ 75 Shadows in 9mm one is the standard short dust cover and the other is a SP-01. Both have trigger work done on them and am not out gunned in USPSA, Steel Challenge or IDPA..

I had the opportunity last weekend to shoot a couple of mags through a S2 2 weeks ago. the checkering is wonderful and the mag release great! the biggest thing was the difference in reset. It is longer than my S1 that was the difference I found. of course I do have the short reset installed. will I buy one, yes, immediately probably not. but it was cool to play with the new hot gun out there.
-
I actually held one in my hands today and I do have to say the checkering on the front and rear is very aggressive!! the mag release is huge and there are the fat safeties and thin safeties shipped with them.. and yes put a few rounds at a target.
-
I bought 2 of the MBX magazines and they are competition ready right from the bag. ordered Arendondo base pads from Midway and they work well on the stock Pro Custom magwell
-
The difference in the P-09 reload in my opinion is the longer length of the magazine itself. Seems that it takes me a couple of Dry fire sessions to adjust to the length between my shadow and the P-09. I have a friend who shoots a M&P and I let him run the 09 and he felt the same issue.. just my opinion

I too broke mine this past weekend. I do own a 75 Shadow also and had a spare TRS. not a huge issue to change out. they are cheap enough and so I will just change them in January every year.. just maintenance

I emailed them about getting some plates for my 19s and never got a response back. That was 3 months ago.
I called them and the person was very helpful.. and the upside it was free, they put them in a envelope and away they went, When I called I told them that I wanted to order them but they put some in the mail. I guess I caught someone on a good day.

The extended firing pin with the 13lb mainspring and I have 0 issues with CCI and Winchester primers.. CGW parts in a 09 rock! contact them and purchase the competition kit and you will be happy. I did polish the trigger bar and a couple of other holes the pins pass through and the result is smooth.. you will be happy
-
I had the same issue with the 19 round mags and contacted Mecgar and for no charge they sent the base pads and retiaing plates for the 17 round mags.. Good customer support
-
I to took and polished the trigger bar and have the CGW parts installed too. Love it. If you go to far with the trigger bar spring you will go to half cock at times. Simple fix just raise the spring up some GTG. I did not mess with the hooks on the trigger but a CZUB Comp hammer is in the very near future
-
So I polished the parts and relieved tension on the trigger bar support spring . Range report, you can relieve to much tension on the spring and the issue that came from that was the hammer would fall to half cock when the trigger was pulled fast. I shot the match and thought I was having light stikes, it was a easy fix, just increase the tension and the gun ran flawless. Thanks to David and Joe for there offering of knowledge.
What holster / belt / mag holder ?

If you go to the link from the post above at Ben Stoegers shop you can not go wrong. I too have 3 different belts and found the stiffer belts to be a shade better like the DAA belt. Ghost mag pouches are very popular and will do you a good job. Holsters are a personal choice with Red Hill Tactical and Blade Tech are very good again personal preference.
