  1. In the quest for speed, I've developed a really bad habit of sometimes not calling my second shot. This turns out fine on close, open targets - but is detrimental on close partials or targets farther out.

On a close array, I am finding myself completely target focused and possibly point shooting.

On the mid range targets, sometimes I shoot them just as fast as a close array. I have a decent trigger finger and can regularly get .14 to .12 splits with my CZ. Sometimes I get 2 Alpha, sometimes not.

On fast splits with a bad hit, I'm not sure if I'm not gripping hard enough with my support hand, or not giving the gun time enough to settle back to POA when the shot goes off.

On the last target in an array, I occasionally have a Mike because I didn't call my second shot and must have pulled off to start running toward the next position.

Even if I say to myself: "Call every shot" right before the beep, I don't always do it - especially if something doesn't go as planned.

What is the best way to remedy this? Concentrate on slowing my splits down?

Anyone have some Drill recommendations for this?

  2. Out here all the clubs use tape. I've tried pasters and they don't work as well as tape. Tape is better because shooters can take several strips and put them on their leg or wherever and tear off pieces as needed. Being able to tear off a bigger or smaller piece is nice depending on the holes in the cardboard.

  3. They have a great system at Rio for Tuesday Night Steel where the person who is ROing with the clipboard calls out on deck and in the hole and then lists off the next 5 or 6 shooters by job ; tapers, reset steel, pick up brass, etc.

The problem I see with that method, is that it would take longer to tape 14+ targets with 2-3 shooters, than it would with 10+ shooters. Faster overall if most shooters help.

  4. Since it was only $8 - I decided to order a custom seating plug from Lee Precision. I'm glad I did.

I think this will make a difference in consistently seating the bullet straight.

Standard Lee 9mm seating plug on the left, custom seating plug on the right:

Custom plug is deeper, and cone is not as narrow:

  5. Many triggers are aluminum, also custom version or aftermarket grips. Any simple green solution can eat into the aluminum. Also the brake cleaner works well but dissolves the red safety dot paint on the frame.

This flavor of Simple Green should work. "Non-corrosive and safe to use on floors, painted surfaces, aluminum, stainless or polished steel, chrome, plastics, vinyl, canvas, cabinets, counters, stove tops, refrigerators, sinks, showers, tile, and more."

  6. Some Hot water and simply green and 4 hours always got them nice and carbon free, make sure you don't have anything aluminium thought it will rust.

Are there any aluminum parts in a CZ?

  7. Anyone else have a CZ that cleans up like this?

This is after 5 matches. TiteGroup sure is dirty.

I'm thinking an Ultra Sonic cleaner would be easier. Anyone use one?

Any issues with cleaning a CZ using ultrasonic?

  8. Thank you, I glad it worked out so well for you, I try really hard to get them sent out the same day I get the order because I know when I order stuff, I want it ASAP!! So I try to extend the same courtesy to my customers. I appreciate you posting that you bought one and you had postive feedback. I have gotten several email from customers with ideas/feedback and take them to heart. I am contantly amazed about how great shooters are to deal with vs the general public. When I get my next set of slides cut out, I have a few tweaks I am going to do to make them better.

I bought your Gen2 primer slide plate, and have been very pleased with it so far. Do you recommend polishing the primer slide as well? If so, what Dremel attachments would be good for that?

  9. IDPA has a nifty little rule to address it. If the SO/RO wants to really push it they can DQ someone for not helping, but it doesn't say how much you have to help ;)

I'm glad IDPA spells it out in their Rule Book:

3.19.10 I understand it is my duty to help reset stages between shooters unless I am the current shooter, the on-deck shooter or have just finished shooting, unless instructed otherwise by an SO.

3.19.15 I understand that violations of these responsibilities and code of conduct will result in my Disqualification from a match, and may result in the revocation of my IDPA membership.
