  1. I loved the match, but the results are a little hard to understand as posted. Maybe I'm just thick... I presume the number ranges indicate divisions (1-57 Tactical) (1-13 Open?) and possibly (1-2 Heavy Metal?)... What do the colors (Yellow, Green Grey) mean? It looks like John Kruszka, Dave Marques and Gary Dinho were the winners... Right? What did they win? Some kind of a summary would be appreciated.
  2. I shot the match on Saturday in the rain. For a while I thought I was going to need some under water spring cups for my Glock and shoot the stages with snorkel and a bang stick... Kudos to everyone who came out in the rain to put on the match, it was fantastic. Great stages, professional ROing, management, etc. Even a really cool t-shirt. I've never had a better time spending $80 to get soaked to the skin. At least I won't rust like my guns will... Also, I particularly enjoyed shooting with the cadets from West Point. It was great to meet these up-and-coming military leaders. The guys on my squad seem very squared away and have good heads on their shoulders. Oh yeah, they can shoot really well too (once they figured out that carrier release thingie on their shared Benelli... ) If they are a representative sample of the young leaders at West Point, the Army is going to have a good crop of 2nd Lts to work with soon. Thanks again to the match staff. I'll be back again next time, rain or shine. Erik Forry Delaware
  3. Please tell me more about the North Mountain Moon Clip Holder. What does it look like, and what's different about it, etc. Thanks, Erik Forry
  4. I shot the Summer Blast on Friday PM. It was my first major match with my revolver, and I tanked it... On "Around the Silo" A loose sideplate screw on my gun made the cylinder crane slide forward and jammed me up. (usually it's the loose screw behind the gun that's responsible for my screw ups...) So that's what blue Locktite is for... Duh! Then I zeroed the classifier "Madness" (Not the most revo friendly COF in the classifier book, BTW) because I didn't realize I'd have to reload four times to shoot 14 targets - and picked up 5 procedurals... With two stages zeroed, I guess first place is safe for someone else! I'll take consolation in the fact that, when it's all said and done, I'll still beat a few people shooting open with my "peculiar round" gun Of course, a bad day shooting USPSA is still better than a good day of almost anything else! Thanks to Larry Houck and Linda Chico for putting on a first rate match. Also thanks to the super professional (as always) RO staff and all the behind the scenes people who bust their butts to make these matches run. Erik Forry TY45668
  5. I'm looking at my chrono sheet from the Area 8. From my Glock 35 with stock factory barrel, Wal Mart Winchester white box 165s clocked 1015, 1037, and 1007 for an average of 1019 fps. I've shot them exclusively for matches for a couple years now, and I've never had a problem.
  6. Instead of a steel punch, you might want to get a piece of brass rod at the hardware store and make yourself a brass punch to drift that rear sight. The steel rod will eventually scratch your sights and possibly even mar the slide. You could buy a pre-made brass punch, but for the price of a pre-made punch you can buy a brass rod about 3 feet long and cut and file it into all kinds of handy home made tools like squib rods, cleaning rods, etc. Unless your Glock is bent, you should be pretty well on target, and not have to do much drifting if the rear sight is centered on the slide. Elevation depends on buying the correct height front sight for your Glock, unless you plan buy a tall signt and attack it with a file. Off the shelf parts should get you easily into the "A" zone at 25 yards unless there's something else wrong with the gun.
  7. Way Cool! Thanks for putting the calculator together.
  8. I've had the J.A. Ciener Glock conversion for about a year and a half. I've been pretty satisfied. I usually shoot whatever .22 LR ammo is on sale at Wal Mart. To keep the reliability up you do have to clean it every few hundred rounds. Particularly, you have to clean the chamber. It's not like the stock Glock where you can shoot cheap, dirty ammo all year with virtually no maintenance. I've found the unit great for practice drills, and it fits all my holsters just fine. The mags seem to be a bit thicker than stock Glock, and I have to loosen the tension on my mag holders. The mags I have were "Clintonian" 10 rounders, and I've been thinking about contacting Mr. Ciener about converting them to hi cap. Probably would be cheaper to buy new "Post Ban" mags but I figured I'd ask him. My only complaint would be that it took about 6 months after my order for Mr. Ciener to deliver the unit. I called a few times while I was waiting for delivery (he answers his own phone) and he explained that he was having problems with employee turnover in his shop that was creating a backlog. Hopefully he's solved this problem by now, but you might want to ask about it when ordering. Erik Forry - Delaware
