I'm getting excited for this match! Hear-Pro will be on site making plugs throughout the weekend, so come see me!
The schedule on the website isn't showing up for me. What is the anticipated schedule on Sunday for finishing up and awards?
-
Ok, so I'm not going completely crazy! I wonder what Freedom will do if I can prove they are consistenly WAY off their claim of 990fps...
Won't do me any good this upcoming match, I'll probably still shoot it, and just shoot minor if I have to.
mjohn, is Precision Delta the match ammo sponsor of the TN section match? Otherwise what are you referring to? And how would I go about securing that if they are?
-
I've used it in my glock before and made major but it didn't in my 2011. They were measured at completely different times so weather and stuff wasn't the same, it also could have just been a light batch.

Chronod last in August.
No I'm referring to Tennessee section match.
I'll go chrono again this week if I get the chance.

I reload almost all of my ammo, but sometimes shoot factory remans if I don't have time. Last time I chrono'd Freedom Munitions .40 180gr RNFP I wrote down the velocity at around mid 880's. That's not making major. The website says they should be making around 990.
I am using an STI Eagle 5" with a bushing barrel.
Does anyone have any trouble with making major with this ammo? I have a major match next weekend and I don't think I'll be able to reload any before then.
-
Who do I contact on here about not being able to make it?
I've emailed Sandra and Jim and not heard anything back, and the contact form on the website doesn't work.
-
On another note, I assume Limited won't be counting as a classifier because there was only one GM, and he didn't win...
Any reason to think otherwise?

So much variance in stage design, I loved it! Couple fast burn em up stages, couple long movement stages, long tough shot stages, tough one handed shooting, and small moving targets. Overall the funnest major match I've shot! RBGC and Hang Em High killed me, oh well!
-
The current leading shooter is shooting Ltd minor, that's impressive. I can't wait for this match! Headed to Ga tonight, and I'll see you all in the morning!
-
Anyone from Georgia/Alabama making the trek and need a carpooler? Mine just bailed, and I REALLY don't want to make a 10 hour drive myself. That's a lot of gas!

Matchbook implies that it contains all the other info I need, squadding matrix, map, sponsors, whatever. At least that's the way it's been at every other match I've shot.
If the zip file containing the stages is the matchbook, then just call it the stages, because that's not a matchbook.
I'm not trying to sound angry or anything, I just still haven't seen any definitive response on this, so I'm going to assume that the Zip file containing the stages is the matchbook that everyone is referring to. All the other relevant info is on the site, so I have everything I need. All is well.

I have already downloaded the stages, but usually there is more to a matchbook than just the basic stage descriptions.

The length of the trigger is not the key factor. The key is the total circumference of the grip and trigger. Your STI should be the biggest grip so you need a shorter trigger to keep it close to the other guns circumference.
Nailed it

Knowing and doing are two different things. I know I need to watch the front sight on all my shots past a certain distance, but I don't always do.
But I've heard good things about his books and want to read it. A friend of mine made GM recently and says the books helped tremendously.

The wide open targets in Thunder Valley were pretty easy to find regardless of paint or lack thereof.
I'm talking about the actual plate though. A couple of times it all looked like one grey mass inside the target stand, and I just had to base my holds on the approximate middle of the box.
-
Yeah that explains a lot.
And don't get me wrong, I wasn't out there bitching during the match, it didn't cross my mind until right after I shot. Just food for thought!
-
My only complaint is that on Stage 2 and Stage 7 I could not see the targets at all, I shot those after several squads, the paint was non-existent and combined with the sun/shade, I literally couldn't see where within the target stand the actual target was. The next morning, they were a nice bright orange for the first squad.
Easy fix: One RO gives stage briefing while other runs/drives/whatever to repaint. Lot of other matches I've shot have done that.
Had a blast though! Hopefully I can make it to next year's.

I ran an 11# spring with my minor loads (3.5gr WST, 180 gr Xtreme jhp) didn't get a chance to chrono but by my estimate, these are shooting around 135pf.
10# felt a little too slow for me, so 11# was about where I need to be with this heavy of a slide.
-
Factory trigger isn't bad. I would compare the performance to my Fulcrum I used on my Glock. It is a little heavier, but smooth and short. That said, there is a lot of room for improvement, just feel a custom 2011 and you'll see what I'm saying. Definitely will be upgrading at some point soon.
-
Holy cow, this definitely looks like it will be the most challenging match I've shot! Better start working on all my abstract shooting positions!
-
Yeah but how many of you are actually planning on using a FC on a stage with flyers...
-
Yep, that's the one. See those relief cuts on the tail? They cause the gun to sit deeper in the hand, which is a good thing, but for me it causes it to sit too deep and I get hot spots from the corners it creates.
Oh I see what you're saying now.

Anybody tried Zero Ammunition reloads? haha
I know it sucks but I have some of that as well, and if it makes major then I'll shoot that. I didn't get to chrono the Freedom, because the one chance I got to go the range, I forgot my dang gun...
