  1. Sure it wasn't .270 Win he was making out of 30-06?
  2. Fair enough. I was about 3" to the left at 18 yards. I didn't correct this until after the chrono sessions, and now my windage is dead on at 25 yds. I've got a new front sight coming in to correct my elevation, should be here in a day or two. I may very well repeat the whole ladder once I've got my sights dialed in. I have about 1,600 more Freedom Munition rounds to practice with before I have an actual need to start reloading.
  3. It seems like it would be one of those two. I was hoping someone would come along with chrono data for the Freedom Munitions ammo so I could narrow it down.
  4. Yes, velocity. Mainly based on your posts where you achieve major at 3.6-3.7 gr. I adjusted my powder measure, then dropped ten charges, then threw that back in the measure. Then I measured 10 charges to establish where my measure was at. Then I started loading. Isn't that the normal method? That's what I'm starting to think. I haven't had a problem with the thousands of other rounds I've fired over my chrono. Seems a little harsh, but ok. I don't get it either. That's the point of this post. I'm seeing what I believe to be temperature based velocity swings (which others have reported not to exist), and far higher charges than others have reported to reach the same PF. I loaded up about 200 4.2 gr bullets so I could dial in my sights better after doing the chrono session. I went ahead and fired most of them over the chrono because it was still set up, and I saw velocities that were consistent with my 10 round test group of 4.2 gr.
  5. Got some load data compiled from my range sessions. This seems to inconsistent when compared to the data I'm seeing around here for Alliant e3. Any thoughts here? My scale is calibrated, and I verified that my two 20 grain check weights weighed exactly 40 grains on my scale before and after I started. Averaged 10 throws before I started loading each batch.
  6. I used your load as a starting point with Bayou 180 gr TCG bullets loaded to 1.126. I bracketed it and ended up with charges of 3.2-4.0 in 0.2 grain increments. I figured that would get me where I wanted to be in my CZ TS. 4.0 was almost there, but I had 2 shots that were sub major. I'll have to try 4.2-4.6 and see where I end up. Here's my data. My chrono didn't pick up all of my shots for 3.8; that's why the data is missing.
  7. Any USPSA type matches tomorrow? I know it's the 5th Saturday
  8. I've read bad things about the Blade-Tech race holster. I got the regular ol' Blade-Tech OWB on the BOSS hanger. I have been thinking about getting and modifying a DAA Racemaster, but the Blade-Tech is working great and I don't really feel like spending another $200 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Saw that this morning. That must have been why they were denying the 10 round mag's existence. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Good deal, I ordered 30k of them. I'm using a Blade-Tech holster on a BOSS hanger for mine and have been really happy with it.
  11. I'll ship it right over, hope USPS doesn't deliver an empty package to you! haha
  12. Has anyone had any issues loading Winchester SPP for the CS TS? What about CCI #500s? I have the stock hammer spring and hammer. I know I should try some first, but I was looking to make a bulk order and hoping not to have to use Federal primers.
  13. I reload while standing; never felt I could get the needed leverage while sitting. From what I'm gathering, the shoulder measurement idea is no good. It would appear that everyone likes something different, and there is no way to measure this out, so here's what I think I'm going to do. I'm going to mount the new press on my existing bench. I'm going to make a platform that I can keep adding height to. I'll keep making it taller until I feel like I've found my ideal height, and then take measurements to make the new bench.
  14. My current bench is 42 1/4" off the ground. It was a little higher than I would have liked when I had my 550, but that is on a 2" higher strong mount. I'll just mount it to this current bench when it comes in, and then go from there. If there's no way to calculate it, I suppose that's what I'll have to do. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I'm 6'1, so I'm guessing I would want it 2" shorter than what you would want. If you could rebuild your bench right now, how tall would you make it?
  16. I ordered a 650 with a 650-only strong mount, and I'm trying to draw up some bench plans. I'm running across a lot of conflicting information, and I'm wondering what I'm missing. I read that ideally, I want the handle at rest to be even with my shoulder. I'm also reading recommendations from quite a few places that say the bench should be 36", 42.5", etc. If my shoulder is 60", then I'm coming up with a bench top height of 45.5". What am I missing here?
  17. Can you switch me to limited? Haven't shot a classifier yet, but that's what I'll be shooting this year. A82568
  18. I called Springfield twice yesterday and spoke to two different people who denied the existence of a 10 round, 9mm EMP magazine. I called MecGar and left a message, but didn't receive a call back. If anyone knows about these things, they're certainly holding it close to their chest. I did sign up for the Gear Up and Go promotion, so maybe I'll end up with a couple of 10 rounders through that program.
  19. I've been having mine for about a month now, and I've experienced the same thing. The belt itself is great, the keeper wasn't very good. Recently replaced it with an Arredondo belt keeper, and I'm very happy with this setup now.
  20. I was hoping to. He doesn't do 10 round mags, just in case someone stumbles on this later and tries to go down the same road.
  21. I signed up on the 1911 forum and sent him a message. Thank you for pointing me in his direction!
  22. I guess that would depend on how many 10-round mags the extra mag could make. If it would require two 9-round mags for every one 10-round mag, then no. But if I can get six 10-round mags out of eight 9-round mags, then maybe. I guess I would have to talk to him. Do you have an email address? You can PM it to me if you do. I'm not a member at the 1911 forum, but I suppose I can sign up if you don't have any contact info.
