  1. I've had no issues with the 40 grain Nosler Varmageddon flat base bullets while using my Forster Ultra Micrometer seater die. They have some marketing material on their website to tell you how it holds the bullets straight. All I know is that my gauged runout has all but disappeared since switching to a Forster press and dies from the RCBS RockChucker with Redding dies.
  2. Holy crap.... Thanks man. That guy is a fricken reloading tool designing savant. Not only is his tumbler desgn pretty awesome... (I grabbed the thread here, the ar15.com thread, and his website... have to read 'em all when I have spare time), but his annealer design is pretty amazing too. I have one of his tumblers. It is a little extra work (about 30-45 extra minutes for 1,000 9mm in my tumbler), but in my opinion it's worth it. The brass comes out looking absolutely awesome. I know your brass doesn't need to look clean to work well; I guess I just like shiny stuff lol
  3. Ahh, I see. I misread how that works. I should have my number in about a week, I'll send it along to you when I get it.
  4. I don't know if I qualify, but I wouldn't mind jumping in. I shot my first USPSA match yesterday, and shot the "CM 99-62 Bang and Clang." I signed up for a USPSA Membership after the match, so my initial Production classification will hopefully be entered next month. At any rate, I shot the stage in 7.44 sec, and had one A and one C. If I did my calculations right, I had 27 points, 3.6290 HF, 33.0510%. So it looks like I'm starting in D. ETA: 1 A, 1 C, and 4 steel down
  5. JZ, if you are who I think you are, I placed right behind you at the PSC match in June in TI. Looking forward to shooting with you again!
  6. I was always taught, "Trust but verify." Now it's verified!
  7. Thanks for the clarification! I really appreciate all the help from this forum, you guys are awesome!
  8. Thank you for your reply and interpretation. I know I won't be shooting at anything but club matches for a while, but I don't like the idea of "getting away with it" locally. I would rather gear up like I'm going to shoot nationals. Same with my reloads, I want to make sure they chrono legally every single time.
  9. I cannot find one single definitive answer on this, which is irritating. I even went as far as to email John Amidon about the Zev Tech Standard Trigger Kit. His answer was not as straight forward as I had hoped it would be. Here's is our conversation
  10. I don't have a TO setup, so I'll just be shooting Tac Irons and getting a classification. Can't wait to shoot with everyone, looking forward to it!
  11. This is from the 3GN website, can you please help to explain it? If what you're saying is correct, then this .pdf would appear to be giving bad info. It's very possible that I'm just totally confused on the issue.
  12. So I shoot Tac Irons. My understanding from my research is that I won't get classified unless I shoot Tac Ops. Is that correct?
  13. I currently only have one shotshell caddy that holds 8 shells. This past weekend I shot a local match with an all shotgun stage. The COF called for 17 shots if done properly. It consisted of two texas stars, one popper, and 6 plates. I had 9 in the gun, 8 on my belt, and a friend let me borrow a 6 shell caddy. That should have been plenty right? Wrong! The two Texas stars ate my lunch, and I ended up running out of shells with 3 plates not engaged. It didn't occur to me to just throw some shells in my pocket before I started; I guess I figured I had plenty. When I got home I ordered two more caddies, so I hope this won't happen again. I shot the rest of the match well and had a great time doing it, but those 45 seconds of penalties hurt! Moral of the story, come up to the line with plenty of shells!!
  14. Thanks for the info! Unfortunately all of my "extra" shooting time is going to progressive ladder testing of way too many rifles at the moment. As soon as that's done I'm going to start shooting USPSA. Hopefully that will be at the end of the summer! I am shooting the 3 gun match at impact zone 7/13 though.
  15. I've been browsing around for a couple of weeks now, so I guess it's time to introduce myself. I'm a Louisiana native transplanted to Houston, TX. I've been reloading for about two years now. Started with my hunting rifles, and now I'm reloading for everything I own. I started shooting 3 gun last December, and I have caught the competitive shooting bug. As soon as I get done with the reloading projects I'm working on right now, I'm thinking I may start shooting USPSA as well. This seems like a great forum, and a wealth of knowledge on competitive shooting. Thanks for all of the advice I've received so far from lurking; I plan on soaking up all of the information you can provide!
