  1. Okay, lets say the score keeper saw no-reload and the RO saw a reload, in that case the RO would still trump right?
  2. Lets say, in some hypothetical scenario, the scorekeeper watched a run requiring two mandatory reloads. He's pretty sure the shooter skipped the first of the two mandatory reloads. The range is clear, and the scorekeeper says, "8 procedurals" (1 for each scoring shot fired after the non-existent reload), the shooter protests, and says, "what, of course I reloaded, here are the 4 magazines I used" and the RO says, "I saw him reload" what should the score keeper do in that situation? I read the USPSA rule book and it seems like the Scorekeeper made a decision, the shooter appealed the decision and the RO agreed with the Shooter. Now in this hypothetical scenario, because the ridiculously fast run was allowed to stand, the shooter in question was catapulted up the rankings.
  3. Anyone have a link to the details? I signed up last month but I can't find any details. thanks, atek3
  4. Usually I have a protein shake with whole milk, fruit, and whey.
  5. I joined the local crossfit affiliate last month and I'm digging it quite a bit. Yesterday I did Front Squats for the first time... Ouch. atek3
  6. somehow I lost the front half of my fiber: Unfortunately, my calipers and spare fibers are in storage 2000 miles away... thanks, atek3
  7. Wow, Bladeless and Flapless, that's pretty hardcore...best of luck. atek3
  8. would you mind posting links to the images? the thumbnails are really small. Thanks, atek3
  9. No question. A football coach (a real good one) told me our stance should not be much different than say, a linebacker. A linebacker about to absorb the hit of a running back square in the chest. You got to be ready for that shot or he'll just step on your throat on his way to the goal line. He really emphasized the rear end or tail and the bend of the lower back. The butts got to be "out there" so it helps tilt our upper body weight forward. I hope I didn't butcher some of coaches descriptions to bad. Retired now, he's been credited with defining and teaching the modern techniques used by offensive linemen playing at the highest level. Jim Having never played Football, I'm curious how much knee bend AKA how low and wide should my platform be. Assume for a minute we're talking about something like a bill drill, no potential for movement or transititions. Some pros seem to take a lower stance than others. thanks, atek3
  10. Have you all found that the dryness goes away? My ideas are pretty dry with glasses (probably from allergies and looking at a monitor all day), so I'd worry that LASIK would give me really dry eyes. atek3
  11. Interesting idea. The field is lit by about 30 flood lights, so target ID isn't a problem. I haven't ruled out muzzle flash as a factor. I have a head mounted light, my first thought is that it would illuminate my sights but not so much the target...hmmm atek3
  12. Are there any special techniques or recommendations for shooting night matches well? We had a 10 stage match last weekend and I picked up one hard cover/mike on a danger target. Last night we had a 3 stage club match starting at 6:30pm and I picked up 2 mikes, 2 no-shoots, and a mess of charlies. I wasn't going faster than sat./sun. I just have a harder time tracking the front sight when it gets dark out. My theory is that the darkness dilates my pupil, reducing depth of field, which in turn makes it harder to see a quality sight picture. Any idea what to do? Last week I waited until I had a good sight picture on every shot, but I was so slow my hit factor was lower than when I 'run and gun' but shoot bad hits. Perhaps I should try more dry practice drills in a dark environment to better acclimate my brain to lower-light shooting. Any other ideas? thanks, atek3
  13. As far as lens material for the inserts, my eyes are -3/-3 with a touch of astygmatism. Should I go for the Polycarbonate, Aspheric Polycarbonate, or High Index material? thanks, atek3
  14. in your PM you said "wal-mart" I was just wondering if costco might be cheaper (i have access to a membership) atek3
  15. Hmmmm. My regular glasses and contacts seem to work fine for seeing the front sight and the target... I'm 27. atek3
  16. Follow up question... I bought my Rydon's and RX insert... where is the best place to get the lens made for the RX insert? Wal-mart, Costco, someplace else? thanks, atek3
  17. could you elucidate on that point? My understanding was that they reduced power factor to reduce Kb's from people trying to achieve major with 9mm caliber bullets. Wouldn't having a separate power factor for limited just complicate things a bit more?
  18. Did you shoot Production??? if so, I was right on your heels ( 1st, 2nd and 3rd all shot 53%)....I hit a no shoot on a clam shell on Evil Twister...only a couple mikes all day long....if only I hadn't hit the noshoot, maybe 1st "C" instead of 3rd...did we win a plaque or anything? Yep that was me. I was the guy that got beat by joe satterfield in the semi-finals of the shootoff.
  19. Hey Deon... Awesome videos. Congrats on First "A"... atek3
  20. Shucks. I played counterfactuals on the score sheet (what if I'd reloaded correctly on stage 2, not hit the clamshell on stage 3, not missed the last target on 8, not wasted time on the last target on 9). Had I made 1 fewer mistake I would have been high C rather than 2nd C... Ah well, that's the game right atek3
  21. Videos are up: Me shooting: Stage 1 Stage 2 Stage 3 Stage 4 First Round of Shoot Off (I won) Frank Cruz Jr. shooting: Stage 1 Stage 2 Stage 3 Stage 4 Nicolas Blum (a top GM from Ecuador shooting) (Sorry TYPO: I said Uruguay, my bad) Stage 1
  22. Stage 2: Movies are being edited and uploaded. Rest of photos are up as well: http://gallery.casa-z.org/2009FLOpen/MVI_1499 That was a tough match. I had a good time though. I'd like to thank Frank and Tanner for being cool squad mates. I'd like to thank Frank Garcia for running a cool match. Stuff I did well: Most of my reloads were smooth and fast. I developed a game plan for all 10 stages and stuck to it on most of the stages. Only had one FTE on a 10 stage match notorious for FTE's. Got all my hits on the movers except one, the clamshell on stage 3... Aside from the FTE on stage 8 and the clamshell on stage 3 I had no mikes. Stage 2 I saw all the targets and got clean hits. My gun ran perfectly, nary a hiccup. Areas I need to improve: Technically speaking everywhere, but some areas to focus on... Tracking the front sight in recoil. Shooting Proddy I need more A's and fewer C's... normally my first shot is an alpha but my second shot is a charlie. I think this is a result of failing to reestablish a quality sight picture for the second shot, but I haven't ruled out mashing the trigger. My movement was fairly good, but I need to work on "leaves" and "enters" to start shaving my time down. I need a better understanding of "hit factor" and the balance between time and making up points. For example, stage 9, I blew. I fired my last string and drop the mag and rack the slide... the RO hesitates and says, "If you are done, unload and show clear?"making me think I'd left a target unshot. Sure enough I move my head 6 inches and see the last target. The "smart" IPSC player would have said, "aw shucks"... instead I do a lightning fast speed load, and shoot two Alpha's super fast. However, I'd wasted more time than I'd care to mention on a public forum. Needless to say, I should have taken the two mikes and FTE... I'm getting better at mentally visualizing my plan and sticking to it, but "mental failure" cost me big points on several stages. I shot the shoot-off and the first run I had a bit of adrenalin but I handled it well. However, when I shot against the winner of single stack, my nerves caught up with me, and I got two easy easy misses. So an area I need to work on is destressing before my runs. atek3 PS I also wanted to thank two more people. Rene for showing me the angles on some of the stages, without your assistance I wouldn't have done half as well. Also, Bob Kasson for selling me handloads that ran 100% and made minor.
