  1. Now just where is your sense of adventure? Seems like your only getting half of the sport if your gear is not aggravating you no end. I don’t shoot a lot of 3-Gun (yet) so am getting by with my Rem 1100 CM. I have shot a metric s**t ton of Skeet with another 1100 and when I throw the Competition Master up to my cheek it is just like spooning with my favorite gal, it just feels right. Well maybe not that good but you get the point. A good pointing (for you) shotgun is a wonderful thing. I will live with the funny looks from my fellow competitors, who I know are laughing behind my back at my old-skoolness running a CM but they ain’t paying my fees or buying my guns. I would like to have a VersaMax but will have to save my pennies (and run my good shooting CM) for now. Oh, did I mention how well the old CM shoots slugs? Now will be the best time to pick up a Versa max due to their rebate. I did! I also owned a Rem 1100 which was the Tac 4 model dumped it quick to get the Versa during the rebate.
  2. You can try drilling in a stud in your forehand stock. Or you can go with the quickrelease socket.
  3. Putting together my 3 gun Versa Max and need some inspiration.
  4. I really like the Safariland set up. You can check out all their gear from holsters.com
  5. That is one ugly shotgun. But I do like the stock lifter. Seems to be tame and not evil.
  6. Thats what I thought. But I was not for sure with the lighting. I figured since it was Remington green it would be brighter.
  7. Cant tell from the photo but is that receiver a different color besides black??
  8. Right now Remington is running a $100 rebate. So why get the Sportsman when you can enjoy the rebate and be at the same cost. I paid $1000 out the door with my Synthetic plus with the $100 rebate my new total is $900.
  9. The tactical will be hard to find plus if you do find one it will be little over priced. I just picked up a 26" synthetic model. Right now remington has a rebate of a $100 for that model only. Then buy you a extension tube from carbon arms like I did. Which apparently they are on back order I guess....... I ordered one from them and they have not shipped it. The issue with the Nordic mag tube extension is the clamp to the extension and the barrel causing the barrel to cant and losing slug accuracy. The Carbon Arms kit makes the barrel completely free float for better accuracy. The kit is $250, add a nordic button release and a charging handle you you got a Versa Max much better than the Tactical version. Here is a list of what I paid. Versa Max 26" Synthetic $1000 out the door Carbon Arms 10+1 Tube $250 Nordic button release $15 Nordic Charging Handle $30 Total $1295 Rebate -$100 New Total $1195 You can spend more money if you like to perfect it, as in welded carrier from C-Rums. Also polishing shell catch and loading port you can do yourself if you have some handy skills if you rather pay a professional C-Rums can do that too.
  10. Mossberg has their JM 930 barrels on backorder like everthing else related to JM 930. Ive been looking for a while myself and picked up a Versa Max. Thought real hard about the M2 but got confused and frustrated with all the legality of the 922r law so I went with American made.
  11. so why aren't they the easiest to load? I mean what's the main issue with loading those? Did Remington improve over those in the Versamax? If you look at a 1100 in person the bolt release is a small button on the lifter where you insert your shells. You have to depress this small button to insert a shell at any time. Thats why the make the Daves EZ Loader which acts like an over sized button in a shape of a lifter. Makes loading much easier. Go to your nearest gun store and look at one in person. Then look at the Versa Max and you can tell a huge difference in the lifters and loading ports.
  12. I used to own one before I sold it to get my Versa Max. I really enjoyed it. Very simple design, only thing you need to worry is the o-ring. Make sure to check on the o-ring and clean it often. My Tac 4 only liked shells over 3 dram when it came to bird shot and anything else over 1200 fps. The loading port is small since it is designed only for 2 3/4 shells. It is a pain to load till you get the Daves EZ Loader. I ran mine for a year without a mishap. Over half the fellow 3 gun shooters at my range use them. But I suggest that you dont buy new. I truly suggest to buy an used 1100 then add a Nordic magtube and a Daves Easy Loader then you will be in business. The Tac 4 is not worth the price tag. Keep that money and buy a M2 or a Versa Max. If you are on a budget then get used 1100 you should fine one no problem under $400
  13. I just made a large extra parts order from remington had it in my hands less than a week. Sounds terrible that they are willing to help new customers more than their loyal past customers when it comes to warranty issues.
  14. Want one. Trying to get my new Versa Max Synthetic 3 Gun ready. Waiting on the Versa Tube and C-Rums lifter. Hoping to have it all for my next match.
  15. Thanks. Hey looking forward to get my versa tube when you ship it!
  16. I stripped my brand new Versa Max to bare bones and while punching out the roll pin out from the shell latch I made a dummy scratch. After that I said the hell with it. I started dremeling the loading port. After an hour the dremel cut our after overheating. Spent some more time with sandpaper and wheel polish. This is my result, should I buy another dremel and open it up some more? I also plan on cerakoting it, what color should I do the receiver? I was thinking dark gray like the inserts of the handguards. Thanks guys.
  17. Here is the picture. Hard to upload from cell.
  18. Stripped down my new Versa Max and polished the lifter/carrier and the shell latch. I am bit confused what and where do I need to sand down to make it easier to load reliability on the shell latch. I included a picture of my polished shell latch. Thanks
  19. So I take it you got the MXT kit??? It does sound nice with the recessed notch for you barrel clamp. I almost got it for my versa max, cancelled my order at the last second to get the Versa tube by Carbon arms. Still waiting for them to ship if they ever do. Post some pics please!
  20. Ordered a one piece kit from Carbon Arms. I called to confirm that they had what I need in stock before I ordered due to I have a match coming up soon. After a few days noticing that it has not shipped. So I emailed them, quickly they replied that some of their Nordic nuts have bad threads and now they have to wait from Nordic to get more. So the way it seems I have no eta on shipment. Little frustrating.....
  21. That is one sexy Versa Max!!! Thanks for the tips. I ordered over $200 worth of parts from Remington. I also ordered the Tactical shell latch assembly which they said shoud have the bolt release button already drilled and tapped we will see. Plan on sending my lifter to C-Rums when I get my order from Remington. I will wait on the loading port since it is 3 gun season now
  22. I brought this conversation back up cause I shoot the 1100 Tac 4. This week I sold the 1100 and picked up the Versa. I had the EZ loader on my 1100 and I loaded it decently quick and I never had an issue and I liked it. My only complaint was the o-ring system and the load gate was too small. So I ventured to the Versa Max I shot my new Versa Max today and I was not happy. It needs tons of work to load it with ease. This shell latch is terrible and it feels like I need to shove my thumb inside the magtube just for the shell latch to click and hold the shell. The carrier is an issue which we already known ahead of time. The recoil reduction is not that noticable compared to the 1100. Just my opinions though, I do like the shotgun but needs some tweaking to make it a easy loading 3 gun shotgun.
