  1. Pretty much what everyone said, the 180's tend to be a little less snappy then the lower wieghts. With 200's and a glock it's harder to load them long enough to avoid possible pressure issue's.. although i'm sure some use them(200's) i think you will find most use 180's.. and they are pretty easy to get from various manfacturers. Really it comes down to personal preference.. My friend who shoots a Brazo's limited gun just switched from 200's to 180's.. said they seemed to be a bit softer and more accurate.. of course this may mean he's found a better combination for his STI.. but he's been shooting 200's for some time. Jeff.
  2. I saw 4 at the last gun show i was at, all .40's and all except one were in the mid $500's.. The one that was under was $469 and the dealer told me he could not sell it and doubted he would get anymore.. go figure.. That dealers web page has a link to davidson's on it, and it shows a price of $501 on it.. i have not contacted him yet, not sure what that price includes.. Jeff.
  3. Ok.. so what's the going price for the 9mm without the int lock.. and can they be had without the mag safety discon ?. Looking for a dealer that has them.. Thanks. Jeff.
  4. Thanks Jim... I may have to give it another looks see... was focusing on the M&P.. but heck i'm open to something new.. Jeff..
  5. I'm really surprised i've not seen one at a match yet.. really seems like a nice weapon... Thanks for the info fella's.. I'm looking at both the Px-4 and the M&P, kind of like the press on the M&P and the one i handled was nice.. Just intrigued by the PX-4 though.. hmm tough decision coming up.. hmmm.. Thanks again. Jeff
  6. Thanks Steve, I was looking for the M&P and saw this and picked it up, not bad, never had a Beretta and i also picked up a 92 and it was nice also, but about 200 more... I did get to handle a M&P in .40.. but i want a 9mm.. I liked the trigger on the M&P... Seemed even lighter then the 3.5# on my glock that's polished... Who would be able to do a trigger job on the Beretta ? any reputable smith ? or someone special ?.. Would be nice to shorten it up a little on the DA pull.. I think the M&P was a tad more expensive, and the storm was $499.. Have not seen one at a competition yet from any production shooter... supringly i think, seems like a nice weapon.. Thanks.. anyone else ?. Jeff.
  7. Has anyone used or shot this yet ? I handled one in the store today and it was pretty nice.. The DAO was long but pretty soft.. Pointed nice and overall felt pretty nice, comes with the multiple grip inserts like the M&P... Only thing I didn't really know much about was the rotating barrel lockup.. any issue's ? work good ? etc.. Nor have i seen anything accuracy wise etc.. Sights were nice.. and you could change the front out if you want ... comes in two flavors The manual safety/hammer decocking lever (model F) and the hammer decocking lever (model G) is positioned on both sides of the slide for easy access by all shooters. The model G decocking lever can be replaced with a low profile (stealth) configuration to further reduce the overall dimensions of the slide So.. don't know which would be preffered... the one i handled was the type F.. Thanks. Jeff. PS: you can see it here : http://www.px4storm.com/index.aspx?m=53&did=55
  8. I'd aggree with what fits reliably in your Mag.. i currently shoot 1.135 with 4.4 gr. titegroup 180 gr plated or jacketed bullets.. i use a storm lake barrel and the stock barrel, which will most likely be slightly different then your KKM.. i get PF of 168-170 with that load out of both barrels.. Never had a problem feeding at that length, and since it worked i've not really felt the need to mess with it, and if it goes to 1.137 or so.. don't matter still fits, but at 1.150 i know i'm right on the hairy edge getting them in the mag.. Up to you how much you want to futz around with it.. Good luck.. Jeff. B.
  9. I've been shooting 3 years now for USPSA, not sure where you live but if it's in the US your going to be shooting USPSA rules not the international IPSC rules.. I've only shot one match that had a 50 yd target... almost all the matches are between 7-20 yds.. Steel of course has specific distances you can shoot it from.. Take a look at the rules, keep working on your accuracy, visit a match... Accuracy is important as well as speed but the speed will come with experience. good luck have fun.. be safe. Jeff. B.
  10. I think you will find most folks will tell you "If it works for you" go with it.. I'm a lefty and i tried what you do and i have normal hands i guess you'd say and it just does not work for me. The only thing i would say is that you need to make absolutely sure you practice until it's engrained is gettting your trigger finger out of the trigger area.. that one "oops" could be a DQ.. or worse something unsafe.. I like the index finger cause it gets my trigger finger out of the trigger housing for sure and i do have to shift my grip, both on my 1911 and glock.. Good luck, keep practicing and be safe. Jeff.
  11. Was looking at the Brazos's page and saw this pistol, so what's the skinny on this? old gun re encarnated or new gun unproven ? How would it compare to an Edge ?. Looks interesting anyway, thought i'd ask and see if anyone had any experiences with it. Thanks Jeff.
  12. Beggars can't be to choosy.. geez.. this is great, and it's a weekend i'm NOT On call.. so that's even better.. Me like the rest of the general populace really enjoy seeing the top shooters shoot, hell they are just plain fun to watch if nothing else.. but is it gonna stop me that a couple of GM's aren't gonna be there ? NOPE.. .not one second.. I'd like to say thanks to the folks at the Club that stepped up to the plate to make it happen, and to George for hanging in there.. I've volunteered for a few things in my life and i know it's always the same, only a few folks take the stress of doing this stuff for the betterment of the many... and i find it incredible the way people treat them, until you've done what they have and given the time of your personal life the way they have then you should sit back and say THANKS every oppurtunity you can.. if you have done what they have done, gripe away... otherwise just keep silent.. Cya in August... Thanks again to the Club and George for putting this together. Jeff..
  13. HEY I Liked the Frog, thought it was great... lol.. We had recieved a Buck folding knife from the one Area 8 match, great gift, i still use mine daily. Not sure what they cost.. How about A shooting Towel ? Similar to a Golf Towel that you hang on your bag ? Hats are always popular, but like shirts how many do some guys have ? Pins are ok.. I personally am not a big fan of them but.. Polo i.e. Golf shirts are great but can get expensive. Geez running a golf tournament was easy compared to this, you could always give out golf balls to everyone.. Maybe a gift certificate of some form or vairety ?. Lowes, Home depot etc.. different anyway. hmm.. I have to check to see if i can even come to this year's.. but we shall see. Just some idea's hope they spur some other thoughts. Jeff.
  14. You really want to see things get confused, throw a lefty into the mix.. They always want to shoot stuff backwards There i am going right to left to see the walkthrough and everyone else is going left to right.. I say "excuse me" a lot.. Actually as most have said 5 mins on some stage seems like it's not nearly enough time, and your standing there going 'OH PLEASE TWO MORE MINUTES !! look on your face " cause a plan on how to shoot the stage just ain't happening... on others it's not needed.. Most matches i've been to on easier stages if the squad is ok with it we generally tell the CRO were good and start shooting instead of waiting for the entire 5 minutes to be completed.. Shooter expierence plays a major role in how one goes through the 5 minutes in my opinion.. guys that have "been there done that" generally have a pretty good idea after the first walk through after that it's confirmation and detail work.. Jeff.
  15. Eric.. you only need to make 916 FPS + little for comfort zone, with a 180 gr bullet to make major.. no need to push the speed up high unless you like it that way. i'm using titegroup at 4.4 gr with fmj type bullets at 180 gr bullet weight at 1.135 oal and make major out of my 35 with the stock barrel.. my crimp is .421.. may mess with that a little, toward the less crimp side, to see if it has any bearing on FPS or accuracy with the plated bullets im using now. I usually shoot at least 10-15 feet from the chrony.. off of a sandbag to make sure i'm putting the bullet about the same place every time. good luck have fun.. I think the most popular powders for .40 are titegroup and N320 from Vhit. good luck be safe. Jeff.
  16. just to confirm things for you guys .. i load for my G35 at 1.135 .420-1 crimp and with 180gr most anything bullet(s) and Titegroup at 4.4 gr. this makes major for me with the stock barrel and a storm lake barrel around 170-172.. i can't say that the storm lake made any difference accuracy wise; that i noticed anyway.. although i do think the 35 likes a tad hotter round to be more accurate, then again that maybe the barrel design that does that.. I use once fired from Brassman.. most matches i shoot are lost brass anyway so why spend more then you need to.. just take a look at the brass when putting it in the tumbler to make sure there are no obvious cracks etc.. I also have a Tungsten rod ISMI 15lb spring and a "THE" brass magwell.. which i think balances the gun very nicely.. and i like the overall weight.. I'd be careful with the N320.. it's a nice poweder just expensive compared to Titegroup And like others have said, yeah tons of load data but mostly for S?I type frames check Glocktalks reloading forum.. but i think you hit it pretty close to the mark. Jeff.
  17. thanks folks.. ordered imsi springs.. should be here tuesday or wednesday...
  18. Ok.. need to replace my mag springs for my G35 with arredondo +5'basepads.. Now.. suggestions on which spring to go with, size etc.. i'm partial to ismi as i've used them in other applications and like them. However i've read that a lot of folks like the Wolf springs.. So suggestions? I know i want the 10% extra power springs.. but is there any benefit getting say a 14 coil and trimming ? or just a waste of time.. and i've read some threads about followers.. and frankly what's the difference? i've seen a lot of numbers flying around #6 #that etc.. and i've yet to be able to find somewhere to describe what that actually means?. I'm currently using the stock followers that came with the mags.. factory 15rd fml.. so suggestions on replacement for them and where to get them.. if it really makes a difference.. Thanks folks, passing on knowledge to the unenlightened is always a "good deed"..
  19. 1* very nice pistol.. Had not really thought of going that direction but may have to consider it.. hmm .. thanks..
  20. I was hoping that they would see fit to keep the price down below those kind of figures, sort of thought it would come in somewhere around the Edge type prices actually.. I maybe all wet.. but one can hold out hope that not everyone want $2500 for a pistol.. and i think if i was going to spend that it would be on a more established product from a reputable smith.. not that they are not reputable but a new model for that kind of $$ would scare me a bit.. kinks and bugs to work out, now if they would consider letting me use one so i could advertise for them ? Jeff..
  21. is this pistol available on the market yet ? and if so what's the skinny on it?. I figure the price will be comparable to the STI's or maybe just a little cheaper.. Just curious, looking to change weapons and this is a thought... Thanks for any information. Mouse.
  22. I would agree with everyone that it was one of the best matches i've been to.. We only waited on one stage to start shooting and that was for just a couple of minutes.. that was great especially with the heat. Thanks to all the folks who worked the match. Appreciate your time and effort. Ohter then scaring myself to death at the Chrono I Wish i would have shot a little better but then again, it sure beat cutting the Grass.. Jeff B.
  23. I had every intention of signing up and shooting the match this year, but just could not justify the $200 entry fee.. plus travel.. my brother lives in Orlando and although thats a little bit of a drive even with not having hotel expenses it was to much.. Lower the entry fee to $100-125 Make it a plaque match and have a nice raffle with tickets for purchase if you want extra.. Cash is to hard to distribute and the lower class shooters will end up just feeling like they are funding the GM's and M's.. etc.. I will again plan on coming down for the next match, but it all comes down to cost. But and there's always a But... Like Phil said if you continue to sell it out at $200 bucks per head.. don't hurt your club by reducing the fee.. If you want to give everyone something, Golf towels are a great idea, maybe bore snakes or something like that to give to each shooter and then make the actual prize table smaller.. more quality stuff. good luck, hope to be able to come and experience it first hand one of these years. Jeff.
  24. Are the storm lake drop - in ? or does any fitting need to be done? Sounds like they are a pretty good deal actually. Thanks.
  25. all i can say after growing up with red hair freckles and fair skin is.. USE as much sunblock as you can.. apply liberally and often.. Most of the good commercial stuff works great.. i've been using Coppertone Sport stuff @ 48.. bullfrog is very good also. I've had some very very bad sunburns.. Aloe with lidocane is great.. but.. you need to drink water till it hurts and keep the sunburn moist with any kind of lotion, except alcohol based stuff. I've found actually that more sunblock works pretty good keeping it from drying out and getting tight. If you have to go back out into the sun wear a loose fitting white shirt long sleeve even.. The sun can do lot's of damage over time.. Bad sunburn can make you physically ill, most folks get pretty de-hydrated with sunburn.. and NO guys drinking beer does not help well maybe a little.. and if you really want to be cool.. get some of that Zinc Oxide put on your Nose.. comes in different colors now i hear.. Jeff.
