  1. Agreed to all, but there's also a possibility that they bring you in to buy the sight that they're only going make "X" on but they know/hope that while you're there you'll buy other stuff that you didn't even know you "needed."

Like a convenience store and gasoline sales.

  2. I don't have my old notebooks, but for me each reload cost me a second over my time with a Limited gun. A 20 round stage I shot in limited in 10 seconds took me 12-ish second shooting Sstk major. I wondered at the time if the additional time was from shooting more deliberately knowing I only had 9 rounds in the gun.

Not super scientific, but it seemed that doing SOMETHING while moving was a hair slower than just moving.

  3. I remember the prop tossing/monkey motions debate. Riding on a faux mining cart on a roller coaster, scooting yourself around on a flying saucer.

There were two Nats in Bend two years in a row; not much inside of 20 yds, and not many clean targets. Traumatized me so bad that all I shot for the next several years in practice was partials and dot drills.

  4. If we take it out of the shooting arena, where we are all vested in emotionally, take it to.....olympic weightlifting. World records NOW are well beyond what they were "back in the day."

Or bodybuilding; Arnold at his best compared to whoever the giant du' jour is.

    Sports...competitive sports....evolve.

  5. I was the shooter that THS was referencing for the nasty El Pres run. New gun, new load, bad knee.

I referenced it indirectly in a different thread. The run felt smooth, but was not fast. I knew the hits were bad.

When I heard the time, my 2002 brain said "Hmm better than I thought." My 2023 brain instantly corrected the 2002 brain with "That was a full second too slow dummy."

I think/hope that this is not a binary or either/or discussion.

The sport does appear to focus less on shooting and accuracy.

    AND

Current shooters now are probably better than the state of shooters in 2002, just like shooters in 2033 will be better than the current crop.

    Both things can be true.

  6. I started in 00, and definitely had more fun because I was shooting well and improving.

I would agree as usual with LtdMstr that there's more focus on movement rather than shooting. Not saying that's "good" or "bad" it just....is.

I do see people with non optimal fundamentals particularly with regards to grip and trigger control. Obviously the grip/t.c is "good enough" for what we're doing.

One thing that I do like is that they updated the hhf for the classifier system. When I made GM the hhf for 99-11 was 10.6 or something. There are other examples but that's the one that comes to mind.

  7. Short notice change to open. No real time to work up a legit load, so I purchase some factory 38SC from a well known company in this community.

Ammo makes 170pf; not optimal, but workable. Gun feels great.

However....at 25 yds I can do fist sized bill drills all day long, but some of the bullet holes in the new target are not quite circular. Not flaming tumble holes that are twice the size of the round, but definitely not clean holes. Out of a 12 shot "group" 3-4 of them are 150% bigger than they should be.

Comp looks fine; no signs of bullet strikes but will check further today.

    Cause? Concern?

  8. When I'm pushing it (splits below .18) the second shot is low....like 4-6 inches low, sometimes. Does it a little bit with major pf ammo but is much worse with some minor stuff I have laying around.

That can ONLY be caused by a recoil spring that's too heavy? Any other causes? Not seeing anything on video.
