  1. Its not that you are required to take it to a hub... it's just that most UPS mailing centers are licensed businesses selling UPS service, and their policies don't allow for shipping firearms.... as long as the firearm goes directly into the hands of UPS, and not a "mailbox" type place with a UPS sign, you should be fine.

Having said that, I usuallly just avoid all the arguments and drive straight to the UPS hub.

What do you mean by "it". Are you talking about a handgun, rifle or shotgun?

I believe you are required to take a handgun to a UPS hub. If you're shipping a rifle or a shotgun, well...., that appears to be a different story.

Last May, I sold one of my Les Baer's to a shooter in Michigan. I live in Illinois now, but was there, in Michigan, for a pistol match. Since I used to live in Michigan, the gun I was selling was registered in Michigan so we were planning a person to person sale. We called the ATF and the Michigan State Police and got a few differing responses so we got nervous and decided to use a local FFL to do a transfer instead of doing a person to person sale. Then we couldn't get the FFL to return our calls while I was physically present in Michigan. So...I ended up heading back to Illinois with the gun this gentleman wanted to buy. In the end, I decided to send it overnight for $60 dollars to the same FFL we were trying to use when I was there in person.

The thing that really irritates me is you can't get the same story from the people that will be slapping the cuffs on you if you break the law.

  2. To get around the UPS next day air I had an Edge shipped with the slide taken off the frame. Both pieces were wrapped seperately and shipped in the same box. Didn't have to go next day because now it had become gunparts. I'm not a big UPS fan. I aleays ship USPS priority insured. Gabe

I'm not a 100% sure this is legitimate advice.

The frame is the gun, and I think what you did may be a felony.

I'd love to be wrong on this one though. Please, chime in everyone......

  3. I agree with the "creep" statement.

You can still go below 3#'s and have a perfectly safe trigger. My guess is he doesn't know how to do it.

You should stick with one of the gunsmiths on this forum. Once you step outside this world, you're going to run into all kinds of goofy shit.

  4. I recently got the itch to shoot a revolver again and bought a brand new JM 4" 625. I'm not impressed either. I was warned to stay clear of the JM model and didn't listen.

Edit: negative comments about S&W toned down a bit.

  5. So.... are you the type to just walk on them til' they cause enough drag on pant legs to drop a cape buffalo, or do you sweep? :sight: Either way, post up some pics!

    Broom and a Shop Vac.

I made a mounting bracket for the y-axis. The precision stuff was done on a friends mill. All I had to do was mill .300" off the bottom so it would clear the crossfeed bracket. Today, I finished installing the digital read out, and the x-axis encoder isn't reading. It just oscillates between 0.0000 and 0.0002". Luckily, it's still under warranty so I'll send that off tomorrow. I can't believe this crap!

Again, +1 on Mike at candomachinery.com. He's been superb to deal with. If you're in the market for anything he sells, don't think twice about going with him.

  6. Bob came home drunk one night, slid into bed beside his sleeping wife, and fell into a deep slumber.

He awoke before the Pearly Gates, where St. Peter said, 'You died in your sleep, Bob.'

Bob was stunned. 'I'm dead? No, I can't be! I've got too much to live for. Send me back!'

St. Peter said, 'I'm sorry, but there's only one way you can go back, and that is as a chicken.'

Bob was devastated, but begged St. Peter to send him to a farm near his home...

The next thing he knew, he was covered with feathers, clucking and pecking the ground.

A rooster strolled past. 'So, you're the new hen, huh? How's your first day here?'

'Not bad,' replied Bob the hen, 'but I have this strange feeling inside. Like I'm gonna explode!'

'You're ovulating,' explained the rooster. 'Don't tell me you've never laid an egg before?'

    'Never,' said Bob.

'Well, just relax and let it happen,' says the rooster. 'It's no big deal.'

He did, and a few uncomfortable seconds later, out popped an egg! He was overcome with emotion as he experienced motherhood. He soon laid another egg -- his joy was overwhelming. As he was about to lay his third egg, he felt a smack on the back of his head, and heard...

"BOB, wake up! You shit the bed!"

  7. This is why I put on a single phase 220V 1.5 HP Baldor motor. I didn't want to deal with Variable Frequency Drives or Phase Converters, or the heat or noise, or trying to figure out which one would work best for my application. It all just seems like a big headache to me.
