You were right Ken. Thanks a million.
There is a brass bushing inside that housing. I took it out and soaked it in Naptha, took a brush to it, then blew everything out. I relubricated everything, put her back together, and now the x-axis is very smooth.
Maybe I'll finally get the DRO on one of these days.

Matt,
If you changed sear springs, you may just need to put a little more pressure on the far left leaf (i.e., push it forward a little). The middle leaf may also need to be adjusted. Do you have a manual trigger gauge?
With correct sear to hammer engagement, I've never had a gun double with a 17# mainspring. I have had light strikes and that's why I don't run anything lighter than a 19# mainspring.
I think with a sear spring that's not adjusted correctly and a 17# mainspring, that gun could go full auto on you.

Do you want to improve your classification or your shoooting?

That's a nice story Eric. Thanks for sharing it with us.
I'm finding that I enjoy spending time with my kids more and more these days.

I am going to take the housing out and clean everything down to bare metal. I think you might be right Ken. I'll bet I got something in where it's not supposed to be.

I think the mainspring housing I switched to wasn't putting the same pressure on the sear or sear spring as the one that was in it when the trigger job was done.
The mainspring housing doesn't put pressure on the sear.
ETA: I think you may have a problem with the sear/hammer hook engagement. Changing to a 17# mainspring has unmasked a problem.

Hello: I would adjust the housing for the leedscrew nut. Also check that you have the gib in correctly etc.
I've had the table off four times today to adjust the housing, and I still can't get the x-axis to move freely. I've also made sure the gib is adjusted correctly.
I'm at a complete loss. Any other ideas?

It has had a trigger job done
If the sear and hammer hook engagement is correct, switching to a 17# mainspring wouldn't cause the gun to double.
Something is more wrong than just a spring. It's time to have someone that knows what they are doing redo the trigger.
Good luck!

Maybe call Baer and see if there is something wrong with the slide

Edit:
The purpose of this thread was to increase awareness of new technology....not to get into a pissing match on how to do 1911 trigger work.

a good eye loop is much more usefull
I have a pair of custom fit surgical telescopes and find a microscope better for the quality of work I'm trying to attain.

What ever happened to Erik Warren?

Mark, I'll send you some pictures of what it can do.

I have the Starrett, and I wouldn't go with anything else.

My buddy is a machinist and uses this microscope to examine his cutting tools before using them.
I am going to switch from my pocket microscope to this digital one to check hammer/sear engagement.
I don't remember how exactly to focus it, but I do remember it being extremely easy to use. It's been a month since I played with it, and I haven't got around to ordering one for myself.

A friend of mine turned me on to this digital microscope. It's pretty slick.

Here is a link to Mayo Clnic's website and exercises:

I would not do the exercises shown in slide 7 on a chair that rotates and slides.
I've fought an L4/5 disc since 1995. An LSO brace and tempur-pedic mattress have helped tremendously and worth every penny. Also, learning proper body mechanics and posture have made a world of difference too.

I've seen a lot of guys have problems with them.
I do know people that have had them and thought very highly of them.
For that kind of money, I think you would be better off with an STI Spartan.

Thanks Guys!

Hello: I would adjust the housing for the leedscrew nut.
I was afraid someone would say that. I wish there was a way to do that without having to take the table off first.
I was hoping youd put the ball lead screws in and rave about it.
Me too.
thanks for the advice about renting the liftgate truck
You're quite welcome.

Although assembled, I'm still fighting with the x-axis. It's unusually tight and I can't figure out why. It wasn't like this before.
The y-axis is beautiful.
Any ideas?
I've taken the table off and adjusted the screw that adjusts for backlash/tightness on the lead srew. I've also tried tweaking the crossfeed assembly brackets, and I've made sure to lubricate everything really well. Should I try adjusting the housing that holds everything to the saddle?

Very funny!

I have the Kuhnhausen manuals. If you're going to get volume 2, you should get volume 1 as well.
I found these videos much more helpful:

There is a volume 2 and volume 3 too.
