  1. You were right Ken. Thanks a million.

There is a brass bushing inside that housing. I took it out and soaked it in Naptha, took a brush to it, then blew everything out. I relubricated everything, put her back together, and now the x-axis is very smooth.

Maybe I'll finally get the DRO on one of these days.

  2. Matt,

If you changed sear springs, you may just need to put a little more pressure on the far left leaf (i.e., push it forward a little). The middle leaf may also need to be adjusted. Do you have a manual trigger gauge?

With correct sear to hammer engagement, I've never had a gun double with a 17# mainspring. I have had light strikes and that's why I don't run anything lighter than a 19# mainspring.

I think with a sear spring that's not adjusted correctly and a 17# mainspring, that gun could go full auto on you.

  3. I think the mainspring housing I switched to wasn't putting the same pressure on the sear or sear spring as the one that was in it when the trigger job was done.

The mainspring housing doesn't put pressure on the sear.

ETA: I think you may have a problem with the sear/hammer hook engagement. Changing to a 17# mainspring has unmasked a problem.

  4. Hello: I would adjust the housing for the leedscrew nut. Also check that you have the gib in correctly etc.

I've had the table off four times today to adjust the housing, and I still can't get the x-axis to move freely. I've also made sure the gib is adjusted correctly.

I'm at a complete loss. Any other ideas?

  5. It has had a trigger job done

If the sear and hammer hook engagement is correct, switching to a 17# mainspring wouldn't cause the gun to double.

Something is more wrong than just a spring. It's time to have someone that knows what they are doing redo the trigger.

    Good luck!

  6. My buddy is a machinist and uses this microscope to examine his cutting tools before using them.

I am going to switch from my pocket microscope to this digital one to check hammer/sear engagement.

I don't remember how exactly to focus it, but I do remember it being extremely easy to use. It's been a month since I played with it, and I haven't got around to ordering one for myself.

  7. Hello: I would adjust the housing for the leedscrew nut.

I was afraid someone would say that. I wish there was a way to do that without having to take the table off first.

I was hoping youd put the ball lead screws in and rave about it.

    Me too.

thanks for the advice about renting the liftgate truck

    You're quite welcome.

  8. Although assembled, I'm still fighting with the x-axis. It's unusually tight and I can't figure out why. It wasn't like this before.

    The y-axis is beautiful.

    Any ideas?

I've taken the table off and adjusted the screw that adjusts for backlash/tightness on the lead srew. I've also tried tweaking the crossfeed assembly brackets, and I've made sure to lubricate everything really well. Should I try adjusting the housing that holds everything to the saddle?
