  1. I think this helps a lot. I haven't done it on my 1050 yet but I did do it on my 550B and there was a significant improvement.
  2. It is not likely it is a problem with your die or the 1050. I got a 1050 back in December for .223 and it works fine with the Dillon die. Do you have a case gauge? That is the best way to set the die. It could be something as simple as your case plate being too loose. Did you change it from the factory settings? Mine came perfectly spaced. Are your cases properly lubed to to be sized correctly?
  3. I have always had pretty large variations on my Dillon when using Varget. Nowadays if I am going to do Varget I just hand load using a Lee Perfect Powder Measure. The cheap ($25) little plastic thing throws Varget better than anything else on the market.
  4. I don't know if it was the baffle or the micrometer or both that resulted in the improved accuracy but it worked.
  5. I am sure that many of you already know this but I greatly improved the repeatability of my Dillon Powder dispenser by getting these two products from UniqueTec (I have no affiliation). http://www.uniquetek...6/product/T1231 Micrometer Powder Ball Kit and the Powder Drop Slide. I ordered them last week and tried it out today and it worked great. I reloaded 500 rds of .223 on my 1050 this morning. After I set the micrometer I measured 20 cartridges with all of them being right on the money. I was doing 27.5 grains of CFE 223. I put ten loads on my scale and read 274.9 grs of powder. During the run I checked the powder about every 50 rds or so. I had one that was 27.4 and all the rest were 27.5. The micrometer and baffle are good additions to have. I had to install the micrometer but that was no big deal.
  6. I had that problem with .223 and it was because my shellplate was too lose. Also check to make sure your ball detent on the shell plate is seated correctly.
  7. I am using one of Skip's plates for my .223.
  8. I am having a problem with my Super 1050 expelling cases between the feeder and station one. It does it about every 10th case. It makes no difference how fast I go. Most of the time the case winds up in my spent primer holder. At first I thought It might be that the shell holder was too lose but when I tighten it up I started to crush the cases now and then so I don't think that is the fix. Anybody had this problem and figured out how to fix it?
  9. I recently bought a 1050 so I don't have a lot of experience using it. Today I decided to take the head off and clean out the plate. I did what the book said and tighen down the lock ring to contact and then backed off a 1/8th of a turn. When I put the toolhead back on the shell plate would not index in the right place. It would stop at a place past the holes (advanced too much counter clockwise). It is safe to assume that since it is traveling too far that the lock ring is not tight enough? How do I go about fixing it other than trial and error? that could take a long time. Any words of wisdom? Is it an easy fix and I am doing something stupid? thanks
  10. Are you sure you installed your powder hopper on the die correctly? It can go to one notch that is higher than it suppose to be but should slide down to a lower notch.
  11. Do you lube for trimming and brass prep but not for loading? I just got my 1050. I plan to use it for .223. I bought an extra tool head for it. I was planning on having three stages on my case prep toolhead. Full sizing, Dillion trimmer and a die like a neck die to clean up any burrs from the dillion trimmer. On the second tool head I was going to finish out the process. I wasn't planning on using lube for this. What are you doing?
  12. I received my a couple of days ago. They look great, arrived intact without any postage due.
  13. Remember that you have four things to do for each cartridge; insert the cartridge, seat the primer, advance the turret and place the bullet in. Develop a rhythm to do it that is comfortable. You can mess up if you get out of the rhythm.
  14. I just ordered a 1050. Is it too late to get one? Would you need one for .223?
