  1. Careful please. I'm a very liberal many gun owner. I've not commented lately on the thing that happened because there is nothing good to say. Both sides need to be cool right now. All of us as responsible gun owners whom enjoy the sport frequently things like this are just bad news no matter how you look at it.
  2. Personally, I'd recommend buying a rasps (very course type file) .http://www.instructables.com/id/Introduction-to-Files-and-Rasps/ That way you could get a nice flat and even taper away from the port. Then finish off with various grades of sand paper on a sanding block or wrapped on a piece of wood. Just my .02 Good call. I think a goof file would work as well.
  3. Super funny and a bit scary at the same time this thread. Loca VA shop. I stopped in because I had time to kill. As I'm looking around a guy and his two sons come in. He says to one of the guys behind the counter "I'd like to look at some 9mm handguns so my sons and I can learn to shoot at the range. 9mm is not that pricy, how about a baretta 92fs.". This perked my ears up as I have a baretta 92f. The reply from the clerk, " you don't want a baretta 92fs, the marines use the m9, the same gun in Afghanistan and Iraq, they've told me that they shoot the Taliban guys more than four times and the keep coming cause they are all high on drugs. You know those opium fields are every where over there" I can't believe it. He goes on, "if you want to kill someone you need at least a .40.". They left the shop before I stopped laughing.
  4. I'll have to go to town with with the dremel it is only plastic after all.
  5. I'm sure the stag 3G is over kill for my first AR but I'll never need anything else. It burris will look great on it..
  6. I have a ruger 10/22 all set up for Appleseed. I've never been. They are a bit far to go. If one gets close to me I will. I did a lot of research on AS before. Just reading about the program helped me be a better shooter. I'd never had a sling on a rifle before. With the GI sling on my 10/22 it's a super stable rifle and so accurate with tech sights. I'm gearing up for 3 gun next year ammo being as expensive as it is my little 10/22 is getting a lot of use. The AS project got me back into shooting without me even attending a shoot.
  7. Cool post and vids. I'm in the same boat. I'm gearing up for next year. I can't wait to get going.
  8. I'd like to see some shots of your forearm shaved down. I want to trim my JM fore arm before I go nuts on the port. I'm a new guy so I don't yet know what will be best for me but practicing twins loading my forearm gets in the way a bit. This all sounds really funny if I weren't talking about shotguns... Has anyone else trimmed down their forearm? What's needed? What's excessive? What did you use, dremel, sandpaper?

  10. I got the Burris Tac 30. Looks good so far. I figure I need to shot a bit and try some others after I know what I'm doing. As I'm gearing up from zero expense is an issue. I did get my gun kart done on Saturday. My stag will have a place to rest once it gets here.
  11. I just finished mine today. Less than 80 total. I'd post a picture but I think I need a certain number of posts. It's cool.
  12. The collar is on the tube and not removable. The cap does come off. Sorry about the semantics. Mine fed poorly when I didn't reinstall it correctly. It is my first shotty. It's perfect after break in. It runs anything now.
  13. Just got a nice one from Craig's list for 30 bucks. Thanks for the idea about using wood. That will save me a pretty penny to spend on ammo. I'll just have to pad it nicely.
  14. Make sure the mag tube extention is installed correctly. Tighten the tube and then the "collar" on the extention tube to the mag tube.
  15. LOL. I "suffer" from the same "problem." Right handed, left eye dominant, righty pistol, lefty rifle. I get asked about it ever match! It's actually advantageous when switching from your rifle to pistol and vice versa. A couple months back I even ordered a Tek Lok and some kydex with hopes of fabbing my own twin shell carrier but gave up! Guys, I thought I was the only one! I'm glad to know I'm not alone. Long guns i shoot lefty, pistol righty..After practicing twins loading with my JM Pro which I shoot lefty, loading with my right hand, my dominant hand is not hard. I'm gearing up now, got the pistol, shotty, belt on order, AR on order, etc... I've been researching shot caddys for a while, it seems to me the carbon arms twins fsl 8 or 12 is the way to go. I like the thought of having the same place to go for my ammo. Muscle memory will take my hand to the caddy on my belt rather than having to search with my eyes for pairs of shells on my chest. On that note what is the maximum shell count you have used in a stage? I still need to figure out how to keep my shot vs slugs separate for multi shotgun ammo stages. Any suggestions?
  16. I'm anewb but capped adjusters just seem right to me.
  17. The obvious physical difference is the TAC30 rotates the entire eyepiece to change between 1-4, the MTAC only has a rotating ring. There were some other small improvements but looking through both, the glass appeared to be the same to me...and for the money, it's very good. Thanks, that being the case I'd go for the tac30. Can anyone find a better deal than midway has? 299 for black, 279 dark earth the mount for 87? Optics planet was exactly the same.
  18. What's the big difference between the Burris MTAC and the tac30?
  19. Way funny but that seems to be true. Under 5 hundred then over a grand. I think I'll have to learn the hard way and shoot for a year before I get an optic over a grand.
  20. My FFL guy talked to the Stag rep. Due to the high demand and the fact that they are using some suppliers for parts the wait will be 10 weeks, yep that's a while for sure. My guy said the wait on rock river arms can be four months. Hell I'm ok with a wait. It's my Christmas present to my self. Hi all. Thanks for the advice. I'd not had any news on the bushnell, I'll check it out. So far I'm leaning towards the burris MTac. I've got some time to do some research.
  21. Hi all I pulled the trigger and ordered a Stag 3G. I've got off set irons on the way. I've been reading about optics for days, frankly I'm confused. I've never shot a match before. As a totally new guy to AR's what would you recommend as an optic for matches? I like BDC reticles. I don't think I want to spend more than the rifle on an optic. What are your suggestions?
