Benny, If Schuemanns are not available, what are the ones you would look to use in a shorty open gun? Or NOT use for that matter.

If you were building a new 38 Super open gun, which barrel would you choose and why? Curious as to what the best ones out there are and why they are better than the others? Thanks for the information.

For those who have questioned, yes I have completely taken the pistol apart many times and do have a good understanding of how everything works and fits together. I just have never tried to adjust the weight of pull of the trigger and that is why I asked the question. I appreciate all the responses and ideas for books etc. I will follow through, we can always learn more. Many thanks.

Dan Sierpina, And if a person doesn't ever ask how to do something they don't know how to do.......how will they ever learn? I assume that at some point you must have asked this same question if you now know how to do it correctly. I am not some total novice at working with firearms, I have just never done this particular work and thought it would be prudent to ask how. Thanks.

Thanks Dan, I will leave things well enough alone. I was hoping that a tiny bend of one of the leafs would get what I want but I see it is much more involved and I do not want to srew things up.

Thanks for the input, yes I do have a trigger pull guage. I want to make just a very minor change in the pull weight, nothing major.

If I want to make the pull of my trigger lighter which leg of the sear spring do I bend and which way do I bend it? I've never had to do this before so thought I would ask before I start experimenting. Thanks.

The gun fit nicely/tightly into holster and I had used for for over a year with no issues. PS to previous post. I offered to share video but it is 17 MB and my email service will not allow me to send anything over 10 MB, just tried. Have no idea how to cut parts of video to make it under 10 MB.

Jon, I believe you and, if it hadn't happened to me, I would find it hard to believe. Bob L. and I tried a couple of guns in it and, with the right upward and forward motion, the gun did come out. I guess the sudden stopping and reversing (to regrab the handles) provided the right direction to bring it out. I have video to prove it! Would be glad to share video if someone can host and post.

So, I am one of the "unlucky" ones to DQ on Skydiving. Here is what happened to me. Last stage to be shot by my squad on Saturday. Guy before me starts and drops gun, DQ. I ask him if he had holster locked, he says no. Other guys say it has already happened to 6-8 people from other squads. My turn......I LAMR, gun in holster, and LOCK IT. Turn to RO and show him that it is locked and yank up on it a couple of times to test. We even have a good laugh about me being nervous even though holster is now locked. BEEP, take 3 steps forward, lose control of handles, so I stop and reach back for them. Gun comes out of locked holster and I go to Dairy Queen! What the Fxxx? Look down and holster still in locked position. My friend had caught whole thing on video so we watch and, sure enough, holster was locked just as I thought I had done. Sunday comes around and I go to cheer on the rest of squad on and bring belt/holster to Bob Londrigan of Brazos to look at for me. Tell him story and we try some guns in holster (CR Speed). Sure enough, with enough upward force the gun can pop out. Net result.......I bought a Ghost holster from Bob, no more gun coming out of a locked holster! It sucks cuz I was trying to be extra careful locking the holster. I wanted to make sure I didn't have a problem yet I still did. Feel guilty for endangering folks yet I know I was not doing something stupid or unsafe.

RePete, I feel for you. As long as we are talking about first DQ's, I just had mine at the Florida Open a week ago. So, stage 2 "Sky Diving" starts with gun loaded in holster. Reach above your head to grab 2 "parachute" handles that slide on cable. On beep must "run" forward 10-12 feet, keeping control of one handle with each hand, and pass a boundary line, let go of handles, draw gun and engage targets as you walk on a boardwalk. Guy before me starts and drops gun, DQ. I ask him if he had holster locked, he says no. I bought a Ghost holster and have 3 questions? 1. I think I saw a post here about a guy who had designed and manufactured an improved height adjustment rod that allowed greater adjustments. Am I right and, if so, can someone please post the link. Or, was it a Limcat holster that this was for? Can't remember. 2. Is there a lighter spring you can get that retains the ball bearing? I woiuld like the gun to draw with less resistance but still lock in place securely. Do they make/sell such a thing? 3. Lastly......... the round plastic pad that sits against your leg. Do they make any improved ones? Not really crazy about the feeling of that pressing on my leg as I walk around. I have tried adjusting the angle so this is less but then I don't get the gun at the angle I want. Oh well, thanks for any help.

I have a Brazos Pro SC Open gun with their Bigmouth magwell. It has started to become scratched/dented etc. from use and I was thinking about replacing it with an ICE magwell. I like the idea of the plastic insert. Will the ICE just "drop and fit" on my Brazos or will the grip need to be tapered to have a smooth transition? Has anyone put an ICE on a Brazos open gun? How do you like it? Thanks for th input.

I use Limcat brass basepads, I like the extra weight. Helps mags drop quicker on reloads.

If I get a short movie of the casefeeder operating this afternoon, how do I post it so everyone can see it? Is there a size limitation? Will do the best I can to post something for those who are interested.

Yes, case falls into a slotted adapter (comes with each conversion kit) then is pushed forward as you pull handle. Plunger then retracts as casing moves upward into sizing/decapping die. All you have to do is spin shellplate and seat a bullet in station 3 with left hand and keep pulling the handle with your right hand. No more reaching for casings and feeding them onto shellplate.

The guy I practice with has a digital video camera. I will try and have him bring it over to house Saturday after we practice and get a video for everyone.

Personally, what I do is inspect each case after it has been tumbled and cleaned with brass cleaner. After drying I go through each and every one looking for cracks, deformities, anything strange etc. Any "crud" is seen at that time and the case discarded.

rtr, Before the casefeeder I would do about 500 rounds per hour on the 550. Today I ran off 200 rounds in just about 8 minutes so it would be approximately 900 rounds per hour. Almost double the speed.

Far from an expert as I have only made 40-50 rounds so far.......wanted to get photo up for everyone. Basically, with casefeeder switched on it feeds the casings (base down) from the hopper into the upper feed tube. They pass through a switch that turns the rotating shellplate on and off so that it keeps a steady supply of empties in the feed tube at all times. There is a roller mechanism that operates the plunger on the feeding assembly. Each case drops into place (through your conversion kit) and then is "shoved" into the first station of your shellplate. Each stroke feeds a new one into place. Take a LOT of time to read manual carefully and understand how things fit together. Directions in manual are very good, just take your time setting it up.
