Careful going too light on the disconnect spring, and if you go with a light hammer spring you might want to lighten your hammer, or get a lighter hammer in case you don't already have one. The disconnect spring really has nothing to do with trigger pull weight.

It's going into a JP modular trigger unit so I assume the hammer is already a light version.

I installed the new lighter springs in my 9mm, 357mag and 45ACP redding seating dies, works perfectly for me. I still have the full bullet guidance support but no strong compressed spring is pushing the bullet deeper in my softer cases. And the stem travels flawlessly down when lowering my dillon baseplate. For me the best solution with this weaker spring. I hope this information is helpful for you.

Thanks, I will give those springs a try

I had expected someone to have answered this, and I was curious about the answer, but it doesn't seem anyone is forthcoming. My suspicion deals with the trigger spring and the disconnector springs since they are the ones bearing directly on the trigger.

Looking on the Wolff Spring website, I see they have a "Trigger Function Pak" having reduced power trigger and disconnector springs.  I've not used these, but it makes me think my thinking was on course.

I hope this may be helpful.

If you try the lighter weight Wolff springs, let us know how they work out for you.

Yes I figured the same. I ordered a pack of competition springs that contains reduced power versions of all three springs. They claim it can bring the pull weight of a factory AR trigger and hammer down to 2.5lb

    Doesn't need approval!

I have a friend that's an Engineer at Redding and he told me it was perfectly alright to remove the spring and use the die without it!

I did that and am experiencing excellent OAL consistency!

Did you have to re-adjust the micrometer setting after removing the spring?

Has anyone tried the 90 and 100 lock piece on the shorter barrel JP5?

I have an 8" barrel and run the 70 on it. I know that a short barrel length should mean less pressure (and therefore a higher lock piece needed) but certainly not to the extent that you need to go to a 90 or 100. Why do you want to run such high lock pieces?

  6. I have a JP trigger, but want to get the trigger pull down from 3.5lb to as close to 2lb as possible. To my understanding, the trigger unit has a hammer spring, trigger return spring and disconnector spring. Which of these, if replaced with a lighter spring, would reduce the trigger weight?

Over the last few years, for some unknown reason, I've started having issues with my weak hand grip during multishot shooting.  If I don't think about it, I will loosen my grip during a stage and start to have 5 0'clock hits as opposed to where I was aiming.  This wasn't a thing back in my Infinity days with 1.5# triggers, but it's a real problem now.  I've finally started a fairly consistent dry fire program again, for the first time in 10 years, so maybe this will help get me lines out.  If I "think" about it, it's hard to shoot out of my sub-conscience like we prefer.

Any ideas to help speed this along?

It sounds more like when you are aware that you are loosening your grip, your response is to tense up and start pulling shots low right (assuming you are shooting left handed)

Too big of a difference to compare. 507Comp is huge. I just dont prefer the dot options it comes with.

Have you tried the 507comp hands on? FWIW when running the 2moa dot on the green version, it looks to be bigger than 2moa and I don't think I'm the only one who has noticed this

Someone said they were going to “hit factor” matches. How is that different from uspsa? Is is the same thing only not reported to uspsa?

Yes, USPSA doesn't have a monopoly on the concept of hit factor scoring (or even the rules in general).

  10. Has anyone here with a JP Modular trigger, who replaced the hammer/trigger/disconnector springs with aftermarket lightweight spring to try and get a lower pull weight without sacrificing reliability?

From what I can see, the JP triggers should use standard AR springs?

If you are talking about the ones with the orange follower, yes they work fine.

I thought I had read somewhere that they did not work in the JP5 but the three mags I have tried all work.

Two of my 17 rounders, with magazine body code 1587-01 and black followers do not lock back the bolt on empty. Definitely is a magazine issue as it won't lock back even if I manually charge the rifle. Other magazines will lock it back on empty just fine. I have Armanov basepads on them, so I wonder if I haven't installed them correctly.

  12. Well after 2 years of waiting, I finally got my hands on my JP and took it to the range.

    WOW

I know some people described it like shooting a 22, and while I was skeptical, I can see what they mean. While the felt recoil is certainly more than a 22, the dot movement was minimal and similar to when I shoot my 22 AR-15. Have a 70 degree locker in, shooting 115gr blazer out of an 8" barrel. Brass is coming out about 4 feet so I think I might have a small amount of operating room to play with when the SCS spring set arrives.

I'm noticing the dot does not jump up, but jumps right, so I'll need to figure out what's causing that, and re-watch Max's carbine mastery videos on the supercetca channel.

After running the SD3G for the last shooting season in my JP5 it has been amazing.  It has been the first and only Geissele trigger.  I am not known for my splits, but numerous times last season people commented on how fast my splits have been.  I did not have any huge expectations for the SD3G, as I understood it was a rock solid trigger, but the speed of the trigger has been so impressive, I am thinking about ditching all of my Trigger Tech Triggers in my ARs and switching to the SD3G.  I used to think I was not a guy that required trigger reset force to effectively get decent splits, but the SD3G has me rethinking that.

The main reason would be Trigger reliability, and running the same trigger in all of my rifle platforms.

So I have the JP flat trigger with the competition spring. That should put the pull weight at 3-3.5lb

The Sd3g is supposed to be 3.5lb

With that in mind, what is it that the Sd3g does better in your experience?

Two problems here. First, safety tables aren't everywhere. Second, and more importantly, PCC are allowed to be carried (not holstered/cased), so you'd be taking them *outside* the marked area in your hand, no matter what.

It's either PCCs have to be cased and uncased at the line, or they get an exception for casing/uncasing as a good compromise. Note that if there is no suitable berm, it's already the way you'd like to have it - safety table only.

I think you might be missing the point slightly. Handguns must be uncased/handled at a safety area, right? There is no allowance in the rules for them to be uncased at a berm, correct?

So why should PCCs different in that they can be uncased and handled at a berm? Why shouldn't a competitor be able to handle or unbag their pistol at a berm?
