  1. What hammer spring for lightest trigger and what comes standard? 9 Major. Reason for asking is that I have a steel master and it seems to have a much lighter hammer spring. The trigger is also a bit lighter. I am running the extended firing pins in both. I did a search and did not come up with anything. Thanks in advance.

I just converted my Steelmaster to this setuo (cheely mount). I realy like it and i seem to be able to pick the dot up faster. Probably because its lower. It is noticably lighter to me and the dot is plenty bright. I hope it holds up. Shot it in a foot of snow on a bright sunny day and dot was still easy to see. Very happy so far.....
  3. Temps here in PA have been in the high 90's and i see a significant drop in my velocities. Up to 50!fps from 70 degrees. Is this normal .
  4. Very nice, where is the power source, led, and how do you adjust windage and elevation ?
  5. What do think a good price would be to pay for it?
  6. I saw Doug Koenig using what looked like a LG -35 on an open gun. Are these dot sights good ? I know where one is for sale. It is silver but it doesnt have a lever on the side like the one on DKs gun. Whats the deal on these?
  7. Having feeding issues with these in an STI Eagle 9mm. They work fine in a Steemaster using same mags. what oal is everyone using with these ?
  8. Using PDelta JHP my 9mm Eagle won't feed these in 124 grain. My Steelmaster runs fine with them. Wondering what oal works best with this setup. I use the same mags in each gun too. Any ideas? I just ordered an Aftec for it. It seems like the lower front edge of the hollowpoint is hitting something. It just sticks and the round is horizontal.
  9. And a great discount for forum members too ? Just kidding..
  10. I had the exact same problems with my steel master that you have. First install an aftec. Then you have to take the scope mount off of the gun. Then fire it and tune the ejector so that the empty cases come out low. The brazos instructions and extended ejector did not work and in fact made things worse. i had to shorten the ejector like the pics above. Look at the gun and you can see the further back it ejects the more room to clear the mount. Mine now actually ejects below the exposed plastic part of the cmore. I am also running a7 lb spring. You must tune it all before putting the mount back on. The hotter the ammo the flatter mine ejects now. After about 3k and 5 matches not one malfunction. I did have maybe two graze the cmore on the way out but no jamming. Love the gun now but at one point i would have smashed it! Pm me if you need more info.
  11. I am trying to load Missouri Bullet #5 lead (180 grain TCFP) for my Edge. Latest try was 5 grains of WSF. Leading was horrible. Does anyone out there have a load that doesn't lead up their STI Edge with these bullets. I was trying to make major power factor but I don't have to. I can just use them for practice if need be. I have chronoed my loads at 960 + FPS. Too much ? Previous load used WST at 4.8 grains. I am belling out the case pretty well and my taper crimp on the 650 leaves only a slight ring in the lead. Any less and it would not hold the bullet tight enough. Also using a short COAL of like 1.11. Thanks in advance for any help. Getting tired of using chore boy after only firing 40 rounds !
  12. Saw these bullets and wondered what loads people are using with these. I did not find much information searching. I plan to shoot these in my Edge. Anyone have a load that meets min power factor ? I don't think you could push these 140 leads to major but I would be interested if anyone has. I have WST, Unigue, and Power Pistol powder right now that I could use to load them. I want these for a cheap load to shoot in local matches but I'd like them to at least meet min power factor. Thanks in advance!
  13. Thanks guys I really do appreciate the info ! Now to shoot them yeah !!
  14. Just ran my first batch of 9mm reloads throught the Dillon 650. Once fired cases and PD 124g JHPs. They appear to be thinner in the middle ? Is this normal? I am using a load idea from this forum, Power Pistol..5.4 to 6 grains. I purchased the once fired cases online and they were tumbled but not sure if they were sized. All Dillon Carbide dies. They easily pass the gage they just look a little weird. Is this normal ? Case is wide at the bullet and primer end and a little "bow" in the middle that looks a little narrower ?
  15. Jeff, thank you for that wonderful offer. I think I am ok now. I did the "drop a bullet in the barrel" as listed above and have now shortened my coal down to 1.125. I loaded 50 and accuracy was amazing and no signs of pressure at all. Velocity only came up maybe 30fps. I am still under 1050 fps which puts me in there for high power factor. I think this will work fine and a really cheap alternative for practice. I also think as a bonus that my leading problem went away too. I am thinking it due to the bullets being too long. Thanks again to everyone for their help, this is a great forum.
  16. That is a great idea Robert. I fear using WST powder and trying to make major I may run out of room but it sounds like a good way to proceed. So would I be correct in assuming that FMJ would let me load to the longer dimensions because it is .400 and not .401? And could the longer dimension be causing the barrel leading I have been having issues with ? Thanks..
  17. My OAL is 1.150 It is shooting fine with these and I hate to make them any shorter because of pressure. I think it is contacting the rifling, just wonder if it is ok. I have heard many loading to 1.2 but I guess they are using copper and wouldn't have a problem.
  18. For my STI Edge I have now loaded up some lead 180 grain TC bullets. My question is that when I take the barrel out of the gun to test them for chambering there is a slight "drag" and I need to lightly push on them to get them to chamber all the way. I believe it is because the bullet dia. is .401 for lead and the barrel is likely .400. Is this normal ? I know its not the cases because they are resized and straight. I can put the same round in the chamber backwards and no drag on the case at all. It does not seem to affect the function or accuracy, I just have not seen this before. On FMJ rounds there is no "drag" but they come in at .400. Should I try to buy lead that is .400 if available ? Just curious what thoughts are on this. I think will try to "slug" the barrel and see what it measures at, rather not invent the wheel if someone out there already has the answer for me. Thanks in advance..
  19. Thanks for the great replies. I opened up the "bell" on my brass more so that the bullet seats much easier, I also did full length sizing with a "bulge buster" on the brass before I loaded them. I also shortened my over all length quite a bit, I was running close to 1.2. And was able to shoot 150 yesterday. Velocity was now 1,000 fps, no signs of over pressure. After the 150 rds there was a small amount of leading right in front of the chamber at 12 o'clock. I think I am closer to where I need to be. Load was still 4.8 grains of WST. Yesterday it was 47 here in PA the previous test was in the 80's. I am thinking the velocity change was more due to temp change than what changes I made. FYI I had 5 rounds within 5fps and two identical on the chrono which surprised me. The Dillon powder dispenser is a wonderful thing !
  20. My load using 180 grain lead TC bullets at 4.8 grains of WST gave me 960 to 980 FPS with no signs of pressure. My barrel is leading terrible in front of the chamber after 100rds though.
  21. Good point. I am taper crimping to a very light line in the lead, just enough so that they don't push in easily. When I take them apart they still measure .40 at the crimp. I thought that would work ok.
  22. Using some lead tc bullets 180 grain and Winchester super target velocity is 960 fps 40 cal. Leading is very thick in front of barrel chamber. I am going to back the load down to 850 . Is this normal for lead to do this ? Load was 4.8 will likely try 4.4 now. Never had this issue in .45.
  23. So if I am reading this right. It appears at one time "tuning" a mag involve cutting the feed lip down on the ejection side as one of the steps. Interesting. I may try this since many say the mags work fine this way and good money was paid to have this done as part of the "tuning".
