  1. Thats a pretty awesome cut and a decent price. Any experience with barrel life on Lilja?
  2. I recently built a 20" with a BCM Sam-R barrel but then turned it down to .750 under the hand guard. I am very happy with it, as you stated, light weight and well ballanced. Easy to carry all day as a hunting rifle also. Was this the full profile Sam-R or the fluted one you started with?
  3. Who manufactures this barrel? AFAIK, JP 20" is only JP medium contour (at least that is what is listed on their website). http://www.jprifles.com/1.4.1_barrel.php I saw this as well, only medium contour listed with the thick gas block. My last 3 gun barrel was an 18" .750 all the way down as well. Seemed to be a great accuracy vs. weight ratio, would be cool if I could find this or slightly thicker in a 20".
  4. This for me as well, I like the barrel length and I intend on using it for matches that focus on distance and longer range spinners, the only problem is that I'm having a hard time finding good 20" barrel that will be sufficiently accurate that isn't a full on Bull or HBAR profile. BCM Fluted SAM-R seems tempting for a precision build but 42oz may be a bit past where I want to go on the weight. I think that JPs weight is right around the same as well.
  5. I'm starting to find that I have an easier time making offhand shots at a distance with a heavier rifle and I've always liked the handling of a full sized AR. Any love left out there for full rifle length ARs in 3 gun?
  6. I didn't notice it running my buddies 14.5 with a MI tube for some 3 gun type drills but I've never dumped rounds for an extended period of time. Seems like it would be fine for a 3 gun match.
  7. I have two 13" Troy Alphas, and love them. However, the Midwest Industries OD is definitely smaller... If thast what your looking for. I love and miss my Alpha rail, the grip texture on them is amazing. If your looking for a small tube the difference on the NSR and the MI is significant. The NSR is for sure going on my next rig (if I ever decide on a barrel length), hopefully i'll like it even though its grip isn't as aggressive as the troy.
  8. Just got myself a great deal on a pretty older p220st. I can tell you the gun shoots soft and very accurate. Now that I have an X-5 AA to play my other gun games with, I'm considering shooting CDP exclusively for IDPA to give myself an excuse to run the new beast. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience competing with one and what they are liking for recoil spring. Also I want to throw a warren rear/dawson front combo on this gun but I noticed this 45 runs a #6 front sight instead of a #8 like my 226 and 228. Does running a .160 tall front sight work on a 220 or do I need to go with another combo? Thanks all!
  9. You guys using the pink spring, what loads are you using? Does it go to slidelock? What PF? I have Titegroup and Solo 1000 with 124 gr. Montana Gold to experiment with. Thanks I'm running Rainier 147 gr Plated Hollow Points. 1.09 OAL 3.6 gr Universal. I think this puts me around 132 PF and I have no issues locking back with the pink spring

    Sigs in IDPA

I'd like to use my All- Around too, but, even if it fit in the box, I'm pretty sure it's over 43 oz. I need to weight mine - at the shop it was 41oz but I didn't have a mag available - I'm sure my mags weight at least 2 oz but I've never checked. Maybe a 226 st or even a 220 st are in my future...

    Sigs in IDPA

I'm hoping that makes the X-Five All-Around SSP legal legal although I'm not 100% sure that it fits the box. My all around is a sweet gun but I don't expect a ton of people to get on the sig bandwagon. There seems to be a huge spike in popularity for Tanfoglios with the Stock II and now the Stock III being competitive USPA production guns as well as some heavier CZ variants. Seems logical that some may just start shooting those guns in IDPA. I'm interested to see how this effects the popularity of the Glock 34...
  12. Finallly got my X-5 All Arounds and put close to 1k through it this weekend. So far nothing but smooth cycling. I was such a huge fan of my alloy 226 that I am really surprised as to how much I love this gun. Trigger was actually pretty good out of the box, I must have gotten lucky.
  13. I went with the newer grips when I switched mine but only because I prefer the larger grip. Cost $15 on Top Gun Supply but If I remember right my old West German Checkered grips still fit.
  14. Ran a 3 gun class today with my 226 running the GGI spring kit (17lb mainspring) and the GGI pink recoil spring I just got in. Runs perfectly the way I want it to. No sharp muzzle rise and no noticeable dip on closing. Also as you mentioned the gun seems to cycle faster with sights on target back into battery faster that I can process it.
  15. Congrats! Sounds similar to the trigger on the one I handled - can't wait for it to get here.
  16. Are you shooting 147s? I had a conversation with Bruce this week and for my 147s he suggested running the heavy spring for less muzzle flip. Got them in today so I hopefully can try out my pink spring friday before the match this weekend.

    X5 Tactical

Amazing buy! I've got an all around on the way but I'm always going to wonder if I should have gotten a tactical instead. I guess its an excuse for another purchase to find out myself in the future =)
  18. I will have one available as soon as I find a sight pusher or get around to tapping out my old set to swap for a warren rear. I'll hit you up if I get done with that this week.
  19. Congrats and nice find! My early 226 circa 1986 is probably one of my smoothest shooting guns I've owned in awhile. Finish doesn't last that long but I've been beating the crap out of mine at the range and it just keeps getting smoother.
  20. Well my friend I hope it goes well for us. This gun feels amazing but for this kind of cash I'm hoping we dodge extractor nightmares... only one way to find out.
  21. 147 Gr Plated Rainier Ballistics hollow points and TRNs shoot extremely well at around 130PF out of my 226 and my 228. Both guns shoot point of aim with the factory sights and will keep easily around 3" off-hand at 25yards if I run the trigger well. Woudn't mind experimenting with lighter bullets accuracy wise but the heavy stuff seems to make tracking the sights easier.
  22. I've not found any definitive answers on this one either. I went and fondled an X5 All Around Safe Queen trade in at the LGS. Balance was good and still felt agile for its weight. Took that as a sign and put half down on it. Hopefully I'll have it in my safe as soon as I unload some old unused gear =) 2010 manufacture so I'm hoping and that I dodge the bullet with extractions issues... I guess I'll find out for sure soon.
  23. I was wondering if anyone has had a chance to handle both stainless and alloy framed X5s to check out how they balance and handle from target to target. I think a heavy stainless gun would rock for follow up shots and stability on longer shots but coming from a background of shooting polymer guns and alloy Sigs I wonder if it would slow me down a bit on the transitions. My 226 is the heaviest gun I've ever owned (34ish oz). I've already got a WG 226 that I love for shooting IDPA SSP and USPSA production but I'm looking for something to be somewhat of a dedicated 3 Gun pistol. X5 All around or the Tactical would be the likely choices. I'm fine with DA/SA but I don't think they make an alloy X5 that's anything other than SAO. Also does anyone know if there is a way to just get ahold of an an X5 slide? Your input is appreciated!
  24. Extensions are awesome - 100% feeding reliability with the stock MecGar springs through about 500 rounds this weekend. One of them still only locks back about 50% of the time - need to do some measuring to see if its a spring tension issue or something else while I wait on my wolff springs.
  25. Thanks again - Just got emailed the following back from the NROI - Mike, Got a hold of Sig and they sent the proper document, the P226 is now on the list. John
