  1. I would go with Winchester 231. Its been around forever, has a proven track record, it's inexpensive, and readily available ALL THE TIME. It may not be as high zoot as the newer stuff, but there's a reason its been around so long. Smitty
  2. Hey all! Got an issue I hope you can help me with. I got my Gen3 21 all slicked up for Limited: Storm Lake Barrel Sevigny/fiber optic sights Glockworks V4 connector Fulcrum trigger Wolff comp spring kit Steel guide rod/15 pound spring +2 mag pads Extended mag/slide releases re-shaped and stippled the frame and, had the slide lightened up My issue is this: about every 4 rounds or so, a spent case gets hung up coming out of the gun. It ends up sammiched between the top of the barrel hood, and the slide, perfectly horizontal, case mouth pointing forward, like it didnt get all the way out of the gun before the action closed up again. It has done this with match loads, factory loads, clean, dirty, hot, cold, you name it. Too much spring, too little spring, extractor not grabbing tight enough? I know its not any of the magazines, it will do the same thing with no mag in it. I have NEVER had reliability issues of ANY kind out of this gun, ever. Any insight would be greatly appreciated! 3. I wish my wife liked hers. Its only a week old! Smitty
  4. Can I use any holster other than a full-on race rig? Smitty
  5. Hey all! I was looking into USPSA/Steel Challenge matches near me, and it turns out that USPSA and Steel Challenge both shoot at Colorado Rifle Club at least once a month. I was wondering if a single stack would be ok for Steel Challenge. How many are out there shooting steel? Would I be hampering myself being so limited on shots, or should I be looking at it as a "slow down and make the shots count" thing? Any advice? Please! Smitty
  6. I've got 6 47D's for my .40. All of them run flawless, no tweaks or bending, take 'em outa the bag and shoot 'em. I have a single ETM that makes my 1911 go on strike. She absolutely hates it. Smitty
  7. +1 For Thumbler! I've had a UV10 for 25 years. It still works great, and runs just as quiet as the day I bought it. ZERO issues, ZERO complaints. Smitty
  8. Hey gang, Will the Glock 21 mags with the Arredondo's fit the guage for Limited? I'm about to get on the horn, and get 4 of them in-bound, but I need to know if length will be a go. Smitty
  9. Hey Braxton, Its funny that you mention that spot inside the frame, because that's exactly what I discovered lastnite when I was working on this problem. Its just like you said it would be, the thumbrest spots. I didn't do the powder routine, but I can actually see, and feel the swell inside the mag chute. Thanks again!! Smitty
  10. Thanks Gents! Smitty
  11. Mag release is extended, mags are stone stock Glocks. No extended base pads or anything, yet. I got the same blase' performance out of the stock mag release too. Smitty

    Mag ejection

Hey Gang. I'm going into limited with a 21, and I've noticed that when I dump the mag out of the gun for a re-load, the mags don't really come out with any authority at all. I was wondering if any of you deal wiith the same thing, or is there a fix for popping the mags out better, extra power mag springs maybe? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Smitty
  13. I like this mag alot! It's not just about the guns, but about the whole tactical/being prepared lifestyle that many of us on this forum enjoy. They cover everything from parts to make our guns better, vehicles, survival tips, knives, interesting people, flashlights, clothing, and on and on. There's always something interesting and informative. The stippling article that Retread just mentioned above gave me the inspiration to fire up the soldering iron, and go to town on my Glock. Plus, the writers, and editors are very interested in the reader's feedback as to how the mag will progress. You don't hear about that too often anymore. Good stuff! Smitty
  14. Hey gang. After looking at the front sight a little further, it's actually got a .330x65 degree cut, which is Novak, correct me if I'm wrong. So, I ordered a f/o front from Brownells. Its an EGW, .185 height/.100 wide. Hopefully that height is within the adjustment range of the Bo-Mar. Smitty
  15. I'm getting into limited on a Glock 21C. Thus far is has a Storm Lake barrel, full length steel guide rod with a 15lb spring, Fulcrum trigger, V4 connector, Wolff competition spring kit, extended mag release, and Sevigny comp sights. It has the slots milled into the top of the slide, which will lighten up the slide, plus 2 other slots milled down the sides of the slide. And I did some re-shaping and stippling on the grip frame. Next up will be the Arredondo mag extensions. I haven't decided whether to run a magwell or not. I was hoping to get some opinions whether thats a worthwhile mod or not? Anybody? Smitty
  16. Happened lastnite at a theater here in Colorado! Why must some people do this? It's all over the internet! Smitty
  17. I run the Wilson. That big rectangular button is hard to miss, and I don't have to alter my grip at all. Smitty
  18. The Zev V4 is fantastic!! Smitty
  19. What's the width on it Barry? I'm looking to go no wider than .100". Height isn't much of a concern unless it's super tall, I'm running a Bo-Mar fully adjustable rear sight. Smitty
  20. Hey Gang! I'm looking to change the front sight to something fiber optic. Does anybody know which front sights will fit a Para dovetial cut? Many thanks in advance! Smitty
  21. Hey Gang, got a question. Now that I have a SS40 all squared away, I was looking at my 21C for a limited gun. I know I'll have to change out the ported barrel, and the ports out the top of the slide are legal. My question is, how many of you have had slide ports done to your limited G21's? Is slide porting absolutely necessary? Advantages? Thanks all, Smitty
