  1. Sorry for the confusion. I was going over the FNH 3 Gun match rules and Heavy limited allowed a red dot or optic but NO magnification.
  2. I got a Scar 17 so I can compete in Heavy Limited. Got any recommendations for optics that will help me with the 308? Of course the simplest answer is shoot the gun and know my dope. but in reality I dont have the time or money to shoot it that often. I am lucky if I can shoot it once a month. I was thinking of re-purposing my Eotech 512 and see how it shoots at 100, 200 and 300 yds. I dont have the ability to shoot 400 or beyond. 300 yds is rare as well. My shooting club is going to Westpoint Academy's Range 5 and it goes out to 300 yds. I plan to sight in my irons and get familiar with the weapon. I will bring my eotech as well. Are there any 1x optics that have a reticle for 308? I just saw this. Anyone try it? Does it work well? http://swfa.com/EOTech-552-Military-Holosight-P7874.aspx
  3. Was that KRISS a stage gun or was it yours? The KRISS is mine. It was a "staff side match" during our down time. I pulled it out and ran it on stage one. I had cleared it with Howard and Larry previously. As long as my fellow staffers were OK with it, I could run the KRISS for fun. However if I DQ on the stage with the KRISS, that would DQ me for the match.
  4. OOoh I would like to shoot this. Could I use a Pistol caliber carbine? haha 45 acp KRISS at 200 would be sooo hard.
  5. Well FNH marketing worked like a charm. I had wanted to shoot Heavy but I dont own a 7.62 rifle. Since I used the Kel-Tec Shotgun and a glock 21, I was 2/3 already invested into shooting Heavy. Well thanks to FNH for enticing me by shooting their Scar 17S I found one and will pick it up Saturday. They dangled that carrot good. Here is a pic my FFL sent me of my SCAR17S.
  6. He is on Linkedin. Thanks. Got in touch with him.
  7. OOh USPSA. Can I use my KRISS Vector? haha I had a blast shooting stage one during down time with the KRISS until I got a jam.
  8. Anyone know how to get in touch with Stephen Chih? He shot Heavy Optics. I have a question regarding the gear he was using at the match. Thanks
  9. Ooh can't wait for next year. I hope to staff again.
  10. I dunno, we had some delays and an hour and a half would push the afternoon squad to 6:30pm.
  11. Here is a video of some of the shooters from FNH on stage 1
  12. I'm thinking of getting a Scar 17. But my friend said I should look into a 6.8 SPC. I don't think it meets minimum power factor. Just like 300blk doesn't.
  13. As this was my first big match and my first time ROing I disagree. I help out at my local USPSA pistol matches and action shotgun matches so I have some experience. However I know my limitations. I limited myself to reseting the steel on stage 1. We have other experienced ROs running the timer, scoring the targets, and checking the firearms as they are staged. The issues with regards to scoring are pretty clear cut, at least for our stage. You miss a steel target or you dont. You hit the paper or you dont. If it was close to the line on the paper we give it to the shooter. Not too difficult. If it was a miss on paper we call the shooter if he or she wants to confirm the miss. The only issues that arose were people whining about "well that guy did it on that stage". Stop complaining and follow the rules. Regardless about "well the other match I was at did it that way" this is Larry's Match. So follow Larry's rules. nuff said. Here is Daniel Horner's record setting run on stage 1. His draw and firing of his pistol is really amazing. So smooth.
  14. I hear a lot of whining. Be safe that is the utmost importance. Sadly some take it more seriously than others. You can stage a gun loaded with chamber empty and safety off. However the rules and staff meeting clearly made it a point that dumping a gun can only be in two conditions. Safety on or completely empty. Pretty simple rules to follow.
  15. Here is my run on stage 1. I used two GoPro cameras, a Flip HD and a HD Kodak Easyshare pocket camera.
  16. I know the logistics do not allow it, but as an RO shooting all 9 stages in one day is rather taxing. Also the competitors get the HUGE benefit of seeing other shooters shoot the stages. By having a half day format they can plan and prepare for a LOT more than the ROs could when we ran the courses cold. I dont see many solutions for the disadvantage but running 9 stages in one day could be trimmed down to half and half. But that would require two days of just the ROs shooting. I had a blast staffing stage 1. Although the bugs were annoying and the 4 ft black snake was a surprise for some, the shade was a god send. It was great to see the gear and guns that the pros use.
  17. thanks to the guys for setting up. We will be heading out tmw morning and hopefully will get there by 3 to check out the stages. Anyone know if the range cares about concealed carry? my friend, who is staffing, is not shooting the match due to an injury. But he carries concealed. Considering everyone will be open carrying for the match, does it matter if he conceal carries?
  18. I have a question about supporting devices. I plan to shoot Tactical Optics. Shotguns cannot have supporting devices. Will there be barricades to interact with? If I use a vertical grip as a barricade stop, does that count as a "supporting" device? I thought as long as I dont use the vertical grip as a monopod then I should be ok?
  19. Here is the rifle video. Same setup. Rifle
  20. I had the iKam predator glasses and they are ok for hand gun but not for rifle. The problem is the viewing angle is not very wide. So when I cheek my rifle, the camera points toward the top of my rifle rather than looking along the POV that my eyes take. I have since gotten a GoPro Hero and GoPro Hero 2. I sacrifice my left eye and invert the GoPro to cover my left eye. This positions the lens closer to my nose and inline with my head. The wide viewing angle of 170 deg helps keep all the information I want in frame. Downrange and hand manipulation. It isnt perfect but it is the closest thing I can get and use it for both handguns and rifle. Shotgun Handgun
  21. I did not see it mentioned in the rules. I prefer to wear gloves when I shoot. Is that ok? I can shoot bare handed but I like to keep my hands soft and pretty haha.
  22. I dont have the facility or the money to practice all that stuff. But am I going to let it bother me? I know I wont win. But I sure am going to have a lot of fun shooting!! This will be my first 3Gun match ever. I cant wait.
  23. Those look like fun. But sadly our shooting bays do not allow for 180 degree shooting. We can only shoot at the back stop infront of us. The concrete walls are for safety but not for repeated use.
