  1. I always take 300 rifle, 300 pistol, 250 bird, 50 slugs and 20 buck.
  2. It's all about fit and technique. My daughter is 17, 5'5" and 130lbs. She shoots my pump without reservation. If you want the shotgun with a really soft feel, get him an M3K, cut the stock and add a nice thick kick eez pad. It's easy to do, cost effective and won't knock anyone over.
  3. Dynamic resistance, Seekins, PRI Quiet Comp, Ross Schuler 3 port, Gas Hog... These all work great, are quieter and less concussive on the shooter, than the SJC. Pick the one you think looks cool and go have fun.
  4. To be honest, I migrated away from recoil masters years ago. In my 45's I run a Wolf 14lb spring with 2 coils cut off. This provides the recoil feel of a 12lb spring, with the feed reliability of a 14lb. With 2 coils removed, the spring lasts longer too.
  5. One of these days that M1 will be done and it will be like giving up oxygen.
  6. Yeah, it was tough. I pumped my gun like a randy school boy, but without a reload there is just no way to compensate for the difference in splits. Although I Kurt Miller does the splits and compensates nicely. Trying to pull down a competitive run on 9, without magnification was darn near impossible too. I honestly think I shot 9 about as well as I had in me, at 1x.Overall, I didn't mind the semi surprise and semi random targets. I thought it was a fun twist, without going over the top. Tower was cool. Trip wires were cool. Helicopter was cool. Bowling ball was cool. Standards was cool. Practiscore and stats being done so fast was cool. Vendors were cool. I lemented the reduction in shot count. I could have done without stage 11 (since it was an afterthought anyways). It is a bit confusing when every stage has a different preload procedure. What I like most about the match is the staff. Every one is on their game, they work as a team, are professional and above all else... Nice. Jeremy will DQ ya, but he'll do it with a smile. Oh... And just in case any one is wondering. I like the half day format. Thank you to all of the staff for working so hard to bring us so much entertainment.
  7. Lol, don't get me wrong... As a long time Single Stack and Heavy Metal competitor, I prefer 45 over 40 myself. If you look at the path of the 45 in a 1911 though it is a violent feed path. The fat round sits low in the chassis compared to smaller diameter rounds. The higher the center line of the cartridge the straighter the path into the chamber. In addition the geometry of the 45 extractor groove encourages nose dive. With my 40, I can get away with as low as a 10lb spring and maintain 100% feed reliability. In all of my 45's I need 14lbs or better for the same results. Softer the spring the lower the muzzle rise (to a point). While shooting 230gr bullets the recoil felt soft, but after a few years I began to feel as though I was waiting for the sights to finish moving around. So I began shooting 200gr to speed up sight recovery. When shooting 40, the rounds strip and feed so much more smoothly, a softer spring can be used, while still maintaining slide speed and feed reliability. It isn't about splits, because I can't out run the trigger on either caliber. It's all about sight recovery and reliability.
  8. The main advantages to 40 SS, are better feed reliability, common caliber for the guys running 1050's and faster slide speeds. Once you get good at tracking your sights, you want them back on target quicker.
  9. 10. Well, here's the thing. If your nato ammo and only your nato ammo tumbles and without knowing why, my first thought is that there is something wrong with that ammo. I can only recommend barrels I have personal experience with and non of them can untumble a bullet in flight. In 308, I have run Stretch Precision, JP Enterprises and Krieger with outstanding results. I've also had my butt kicked by a couple of Heavy Metal heavy weights shooting DPMS barrels.
  11. http://www.strongsidetactical.com/stretch-16-precision-ar10-barrel-melonite/ 1:8 twist, button rifled, hand lapped, intermediate gas (half way between mid and rifle).
  12. 3 gunners in the Northern Midwest have too much time on their hands. I'll let you know when the link is live. Or we could just have 100 competitors named Doug and play the Doug Win's game. ?
  13. See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.

  16. Well, if that's wrong then I don't want you to be right!
  17. Hey Gang, I was approached about a year ago to do some T&E work on the then secret Stretch 16 308 barrel. I ran this prototype barrel most of last year, in my JP LRP-07, 308 rifle with excellent results, with wins at SMM3G and RM3G. I found it to a fairly forgiving barrel with good to excellent accuracy with all of the ammo I ran in it, from nato surplus up to my own personal match loads. I ran this barrel very fast at SMM3G and had no trouble making short work of those long range targets at RM3G. My rifle runs reliably and recoil impulse is very nice with the provided, fixed gas block and there is room for a little fine tuning if you prefer an adjustable block. This barrel is designed to be a drop in replacement for any DPMS LR-308 pattern gun. It is match grade stainless and comes with a hand lapped bore. The 5/8x24 thread accepts most muzzle brakes on the market. The barrel cut is light profile, so it is quick and handy without sacrificing rigidity. Check em out at: https://www.strongsidetactical.com/brands/Stretch-Precision.html
  18. All of the JP barrels I have removed were shimmed to fit.
  19. Soon. We made some changes to the match format and schedule which I need to solidify before the entry form goes up. We are going to a two day event this year, with 13 stages. Same weekend.
  20. Blah blah blah... Shoot fast and accurate and have a good time. If you deserve to place well, you will place well.
  21. My take on it too. Shoot fast and accurate. Take advantage of major PF scoring and have fun. Don't get too wrapped up in the scoring system of each stage. I'll be shooting heavy gear and am simply picking up some 126mm mags so I can run my 40. Gonna be a fun weekend for sure.
