    feed ramps

Flex, it is a SV wide body and the a Schuman barrel in 40, from the factory. The bullets I am using do have a blut shape to it. But I think the springs in the mags might be to blame. The one mag that does this I notice the first round pointing into the ramp and not upward like the other mags. I did order some new springs and will use these without cutting or clipping the last few coils. I think I will bend the top coil upward. thanks for all the inputs. Any thoughts on what I will do. thanks

    mag springs

The other mags I noticed the top bullet pointing upward into the feed ramp. Maybe it is the springs. thanks

    mag springs

You may be right. I noticed today at the range that one mag let the bullet (nose dive) into the ramp. That led me to think that maybe I dont need the feed angle changed! Do yo guys bend the last coil upward, near the top at the follower? thanks

    mag springs

I have SV mag tubes and are using the stock base pads. Iam also using ISMI springs. The mags are 140mm. Do I need to cut the springs? The springs are also for the 140mm tubes? I was getting 18 rds with cutting some coils but I not sure if I sure? thanks
  6. Does anyone know how to shape the feed ramp on a barrel? What tool or Demel bit would I use? And how do you do it? I have a 40 gun and the bullets sometimes hits the ramp and stops. It seems to me that it might need a grove or less of a steep angle. Or should I leave it to a pro? thanks
  7. Newguy, I would try a 12 lb spring in your 6' gun. With 230 gr bullets. See how that works. You shouldnt really be using a heavier spring than that. IMO
  8. jkmccoy, at times do you get to handle deadly snakes from other around the world?
  9. I have a SV gun with a SV barrel that I bought new. Well I gone back and forth with 40 and 45 but now that I only shoot 40 I notice that I cant really shoot groups like my 45. I looked at the muzzle and noticed that where the bull barrel should make contact with the slide it doesnt. I can slip a sheet of paper around the portion of the barrel. From 11 o closk to about 2 o clock. The bottom portion where the guide rod plug is making contact. Would this make the gun not shoot the best that it can? Iam shooting jacketed 180s at about 940 fps (titegroup). Loaded OAL 1.165 any thoughts thanks
  10. change the barrel to a 40.
  11. Barnhart doesnt use one. Buy bullets and practice!
  12. I remember having a problem like yours and I found that the primer slide bar, the hole was too small or in other words Dillon actually had slide bars with different size holes. Now this is only with small primers. Do what Brians suggests but also ask Dillon is that have different size hole primer slide bars. They did when I called and I was surprised to hear they did. Small primers seem too be always troublesome.
  13. who do you talk too or how do you get a application to compete on the rifle event for Great Outdoors Games? thanks
  14. great thanks for that link. Interesting how prices vary. Good prices on the barreled uppers.
  15. have you seen the Les Baer top ends for ARs! They start at 1200.00. Are they really worth it? They charge double what everyone else does.
  16. Today,I heard on the news of a policer officer in the southland, being killed as he was holstering his gun. The gun slipped from the holster and went fired as it hit the ground. How could this be! A Glock could not do this. And I dont think his service weapon was a 1911. But what about a SW? Iam not familiar with that weapon and if anyone could shed some light on this. I think the police or the news is or was not telling all the facts. Any ideas? thanks
  17. Alright Ive check the web site from different manufacturers and nobody sells a top end, medium weight barrel with no fromt post and a threaded muzzle for a muzzle brake. Is this the setup I would need for 3 gun Open rilfe? They do sell a top end with medium weight barrel and a threaded muzzle end but with a front sight. Do I need to the rifle to a gunsmith who can build it the I need it? thanks
  18. thanks for the advise! Its just that I too much and start thinking and want to ask questions. Maybe I have too much time on my hands (Edited by chi at 3:00 pm on July 17, 2002)
  19. Which is better to have? And by whom? From what Ive read AS (jake Kempton) is a real good one to have the trigger worked on. But Jewell make a good one also. thanks Also are Colt lowers good or are they're better ones. I have a Colt and was under the impression that Colt was the original one to get. Iam being mislead? thanks
  20. after reading the post here and in other place I understand why 1-9 for a barrel twist is ideal. But then why would anyone want a 1/12 twist. I was reading Les Baers web site and he offers his 223 top end with a 1/12 and other twist are optional. Why would someone spend alot of money on a top end only to get in 1/12? thanks
  21. has anyone heard of these trigger? He claims it can be set from 3 to 1 pounds. He also has a 50 cal conversion.
  22. has anyone heard or used the "Jard triggers" it claims it can be set a 3 to 1 pounds! He also sell a 50 cal conversion for the AR. thanks
  23. what if your going only to shoot 55 gr bullet? Should you only go with a 1/13 twist? thanks
  24. I was just checking the JP web site and they list a trigger group use by some top shooters and a speed hammer for the ARs. Is this really a must have for a good trigger> Ive seen so many shop selling their trigger group for the AR. I read the post here on the this forum for triggers and what is stated is you get a basic trigger job from a good smith. Any thoughts. thanks
