  1. Just wondering what cigars are you guys smoking? I was having a relaxing smoke and I thought I would pop this question here and see what results came in... if any I like them mild so Macanudo's Portofino is my mainstay. It also has the highest BC of any smoke available -IMO
  2. Done. Good Idea, I hope it works. My SPORT is a freaking tackdriver and shotos flat as hell but I think the compensator DQ's it from Lim.
  3. Alternative terms... how about "clean load" and "dirty load" You hit the nail on the head with higher pressures or hot loads. This has a lot more to do with how "dirty" the gun gets than the actual brand of powder -IMO. The "cleanest" powder loaded light is dirtier than a "dirty" powder loaded hot. My range gun (P220 Sport) is supplied with VVn310 rounds with 4.2gr. (very light to say the least) and it gets filthy. I can put 20 rounds through it and the gun looks as dirty as my Brazos (.38sc) after 300 rounds of VVn105 @ 10.3gr. Dirty powder <read: LOAD> would have you cleaning the gun after 50 rounds. A clean load might need only a wipe and oil after a few hundred. Other powders are consistent with this idea. Looking at all the different powders I have collected over the years (that sit in storage never to be used again for whatever reason), it all comes down to the same issue - pressure. Bulleye and Titegroup "ran" dirty at range pressures. Lil'Gun (40gr.) runs super clean in my S&W M500 as does 34gr. of Varget in 22-250. cheers
  4. well, I don't compete (not yet anyway) but, I wanted to own and shoot a piece of equipment that is at the APEX of achievement in handgun performance. Fortunately for me I got in touch with Bob. Since this is a bragging thread, and not the place to ramble endless praises of Bob's work (skill and quality), what can I brag about? I can post a simple, novice question and because I chose to own one of Bob's Open guns (actually have another on the way); I get assistance from and my questions answered by a premier custom gunsmith of elite, world class, high performance pistols! How cool is that!? Seriously, for a guy like me, Bob's timeless, after the sale commitment to his client is truly something I can brag about... and I probably know THAT better than anyone I've been saying this a lot lately but I'll say it again THANKS Bob and Ingi!!
  5. will do Bob, thanks again for all the support, past, present, and future!
  6. Go Figure. I checked the screws that fasten the c-more to the mount and, although I couldn't move the scope independantly of the mount, the two scope screws were not tight or even snug. They turned 2-3 revolutions easily before becoming tight. Considering how sensitive the adjustments are on that thing, I can see this may have been a contributing factor. -Thanks Bob!!! cheers
  7. The mount is solid as a freaking rock. Held fast to frame with 5 equally torqued screws I could probably tow a trailer by the mount. The c-more has zero play against the mount though I didn;t strip it down to check the actual screws. The whole thing is really solid. I never forget the set screw either (though you're smart to not assume I do things right ). I am pretty sure I will be able to zero the sight now that I am using a lot more force on the screw. The Tech guy at C-more started asking me questions about the the set-up and gun etc. When I told him Bob built it recently and I haven't changed a thing, he said he knows Bob's work and instantly stopped questioning the "hardware" . He told me to put some muscle into it and lo and behold, the screw still has plenty of adjustment. Apparently the C-more has more than 900 verticle inches at 100yds (or something like that). Anyway, I am just not sure why the zero/alignement would have changed unless I absent mindedly turned the screw the wrong way originally - who knows, probably me though, I have a bit of a track record for "hosing" myself Thanks for the replies. I'll try it this weekend and let y'all know. Take care, Mike
  8. Got off the phone with c-more, it looks like I simply didn't put enough effort into turning the elevation screw. I didn't want to damage anything and didn't realize how firm the screw is -duh, it makes sense it would be tight. I'll will have to get back to the range and try again with a bit more effort. Thanks again Mike
  9. Comp is fine but thanks for the thought. ...hmmmm
  10. Thanks for the idea, I checked the lens (glass window not the diode) and it doesn't move nor can I see any cracks. I certainly do not recall the site or gun receiving any impact other than shooting. One day it was "spot on" the next it was low (quite a bit too). I even shot from a sandbag, it is perfectly consistant. Thanks for time as always! Mike
  11. I am trying to raise the POI. Oddly, the the adjustment is fully clockwise and I still group low. In other words, I don't have enough range of adjustment for elevation. Any ideas? Thanks so much! Mike
  12. Anything that that makes it look less like a Glock is an improvement
  13. Bob, Thanks a million. Thanks also for the instantaneous response to my email. Oh, and thank you for sending the screws too - fantastic service even a year later. I can't believe you wouldn't even let me pay for the shipping! I'll give it a try. Now that I have removed the magwell and mainspring, I can see the errors of my ways. It is sooo much easier to work with now. If I had done that initially, I would be having this problem. Too many shortcuts can be a bad thing. Hopefully I can avoid sending you the gun but, don't be surprised if you find it in the mail Take care and thanks. Also thank to the rest of you guys! Mike
  14. You know what? I am pretty sure you guys were right, and I corrected "that" problem. The new problem is that; I must have changed my 28oz trigger into a something in the neighborhood of around 12oz. How might I correct that (aside from sending it back to Bob) His trigger job WAS absolutely perfect, broke like the proverbial glass rod with 0 travel. How will I ever get it back. Like mcoliver said, I won't be cleaning a perfectly functioning gun. thanks, mike
  15. Hey guys, Thanks a lot I appreciate the advice. It looks like it is the position of the spring, but I can't seem to get it right. If I rack the slide gently (not letting it slam forward) the "action" works perfectly but if I let the slide come forward on it own, the hammer will strike the firing pin. Its like it too sensitive. I imagine I turned the darn thing into a fully automatic pistol, only difference is; it will keep firing until the ammo runs out - quite a show with 170mm tubes. I guess I'll keep playing with it. What position should the hammer be in when you put the grip frame on? Thanks always! Mike
  16. So I went to the range after thoroughly cleaning my Brazo Pro SC (first time I did the lower end) and received quite a surprise. Apparently I reassembled the gun incorrectly. The problem lies with the hammer "stem" thing that runs down into the grip in the groove inside the grip safety. After considerable difficulty, I finally got it back together in a way that appeared to be correct. What happens is; the hammer comes forward with the slide, it does not stay cocked. What is the proper way to reassemble the grip frame so the hammer is in the proper position? Any help greatly appreciated - Thanks Mike
  17. ooops, - sorry guys, should have edited. transitioning my webserver to a new ISP. Bob, thanks for reposting the pics! Mike
  18. live and learn... I will still have 700 rnd outtings but spread over enough time to allow the gun to cool and keep the temp reasonable. Thats what the other guns are for. cheers! Mike
  19. the only option I added is the Deluxe Trigger job - work includes top-shelf trigger, hardware, adjustment, and tuning to your specs (28oz in my case). Everything else is standard for this package. Thanks for the comments! Mike
  20. Scooter, Big Thanks for the tip, will do! Mike
  21. Alright! I finally shot it. Keep in mind I have no prior Open gun experience but here's my take. I cooked-up 1300 rounds of .38supercomp as follows. 10.3gr VVn105 under .356 JHP Zeros. Starline Brass primed with WSR seated to 1.233 finished with a minimal crimp. Sorry didn't bring the chrono this time but I am pretty sure its making major. I also had 3 @ 140mm tubes and 1 @ 170mm w/ grams springs and followers and Limcat bases. Two of the tubes are tuned, two are not. I fired about 700 rounds in just over an hour. I could have used the gun as a branding iron. I had no failures of any type and all four magazines functioned perfectly. I am very happy with the ammo, muzzle flash was just a small spark above the comp (indoor range). As a bonus, after 700+ rounds, I was surprised how clean the gun looked. The non-shielded c-more lens was as clean as it was before I started shooting - a real tribute to how well done the porting and compensator are. I am accustomed to very accurate guns and this is definitely accurate. Taking my time, I could print clovers offhand at fifty feet, jagged holes with a bag rest (limiting factor being the dot). What I am not accustomed to is; how this offhand accuracy remains consistent through every follow-up shot. Pulling the trigger quickly, about every half second (not double-taps), I was still able to keep mag after mag on a 4 x 6 inch piece of paper at 50 ft (aside from the odd flyer). That is a first ever for me. No doubt the porting and comp are effective! The 6moa C-more dot moved less than 2 in. on the paper at 50 ft. during firing. Some of that may have to do with the 28oz trigger job. There is absolutely no over travel, no creep. It breaks like the click of a mouse (the proverbial glass rod) at exactly were its movement abruptly stops. There is less than 1/16 of an inch of “take-up” and then you have fired the gun! One thing that I wasn’t used to was the need to slam the mag into the gun. I wasn’t being violent, but it was a very deliberate insertion. Gentleness was penalized by having the mag fall right out as soon as I removed my hand. Maybe this is normal, maybe its the Limcat bases, probably its just me. I wasn’t having problems once I got the hang of it. In case you have not interpreted, I am extremely pleased. If “it” gets better than this, I would never be able to tell. I don’t even think I will bother with any load development. To reiterate, this gun “makes” the shooter. To support this, there was a kid (maybe 14 yrs) at the range who couldn’t take his eyes off the gun. He was mesmerized. I pulled the target back to 25ft. and let him blow off a mag. He popped one right after the other until he ran dry. Most of his shots (out of some 20) were with-in a 2 1/2in. group! He was ecstatic, his dad and I were shocked. Moments prior, he was hard-pressed to keep a 4in group at 20ft going slowly with a Walther .380. Well, that’s it for now. I’m sure I’ve bored you plenty as I imagine you all are quite familiar with this level of performance gun. This however represents the Apex of handguns to me. The Alpha of the pack! Take care, Mike
  22. Thanks gang, you are all very generous with your comments. I have yet to shoot it and I am absolutely dying to. Actually, the closest thing I have to this is a P220 Sport (with an ultra dot). I don't even know how to get the barrel out of the top end Mr. 300lbG... the pic you found on Bob's site IS my gun before the upgraded trigger/hammer/sear job. I think I may have Bob's first one of this model - maybe.. Take care all and thanks for the attention, Mike
  23. BOB - You Da Man!!! UPDATE. The gun pics can be seen later in this thread (pg 3 I think) - generously reposted by Brazo's [my Webserver is in transition] cheers!! Mike
