Is the flaming pig legal in Limited division?
  2. Your money (match fee) pays for insurance, props, props repair parts, targets, tape, target sticks, paint, staples, club website, timers, timer bateries, etc, etc. Your money does NOT cover stage design type or pay for you to give complaints. It's all volunteer work dude. .
  3. Absolutely. You are correct. But, no one should get shot by someone elses gun because it fell off the holster. I've never seen a gun jumped out of a "production" type holster. Do a search on You Tube DQ multi-gun . In the past two years we had 3 DQ's ---- all dropped guns from race holsters. I'm probably just like you and others here that like the cool and action stuff. I'm all for it. But like Alaskapopo mentioned, when you're on the other side (the club that's running the show) your mentality changes when there is safety and liability in the mix.
  4. Draw then rack the slide was also something I saw on the 3 Gun Nation show. Not everyone on a stage would do it but several would. So where you are seeing it, is it a case where stage designers are incorporating this into the stages or is it the competitor attempting to add another layer of safety? My club does it because race holsters exists in the game.
  5. Well, we can discuss, argue, debate about what is and what is not practical all day long. I won't shoot an Open gun with race holster because I don't think it's practical. But we still see it in MG. So "practical" should be discussed in another thread. A lot of real world users are using gear that is considered open in the game. Such as red dots on pistols and shotguns. multiple optics on their AR's. So be careful what you dismiss as not practical.Pat Excuse me? "Be careful"? I did say specifically race holster . And open gun to me may be different to what you think is an Open gun. I did not mention anything about dots. Like I said , discussion about "practical"should be discussed elsewhere

  7. Okay I agree that abandonment should be minimized. My point in doing such is just to make stages a little more interesting where the shooter has to "work".By no means "test" a skill. I'm not really a fan of simple stages, it's just boring. I really really really like the idea of using a sling and reholstering. My club hasn't tried that yet, But it was brought up. Is that USPSA legal? We don't mind doing outlaw matches if it ain't. Thanks for the input guys BTW Re-holstering on the clock is dangerous when you have a shoot where anyone of any back ground can attend. Here is the problem 99% of the shooters will be fine but there will be a fud who shoots himself and then your match is over for the long haul and you will find that waiver of liability you have them sign is pretty much worthless. Same thing with slings. Some fud drops his slung rifle while transitioning with the weapon off safe and the trigger hangs up on one of the 20 30 round mags on his cool tactical teddy vest and he shoots the RO. Same result match is over people are sued injured dead etc. Leave the tactical stuff like transition drills to the controlled environment of training where everything is broken down and gone over a thousand times and there is no time pressure. It is not a good idea to include these activities in our sport and this is from someone who trains in them for a living. (sigh) Okay point taken.... shucks Thanks for bringing that up. Comment taken seriously.

  9. Is it common or is even legal? example stage design: starting with rifle, engage first array of rifle targets, then abandon rifle in barrel, draw pistol from holster then engage all steel (one popper activates/opens port revealing last array of rifle targets). Abandon pistol and retrieve abandoned rifle to engage last array of rifle targets. Sorry for being a noob, none of us locally don't shoot bigger MG matches. So I just wanna double check with you guys if it's all legit before I design such stages.
  10. I had to make the switch because I wasn't going to let .223 cost and availability of heads and powder stop or cut down my shooting. I found 147's pulls more available and if not cheaper, use nearly half the powder charge , way less noise/concussion , and better yet I can cast my own boolits. So many bullets options out there just on jacketed alone. And running a pistol gas system gives even more options on powder. It is labor intensive on converting brass, fast and easy with a Dillon trimmer though. Maybe I wouldn't have switch cartridges if I had hoarded a lot of power and cases of bullets(I can tell some of you are smiling) before all of the political craziness started.
  11. I'm willing to test it out myself but currently I do not have a bullet mold with the correct 9mm profile that would work in 9Major. The profile that I have seats too deep/ very short OAL :
  12. The epoxy method is much more forgiving in getting it right. Powder Coating buy gun requires you to make a jig (works best for hollow pointers). Powder Coating wet tumbling ( also called "Piglet method" ) seems to be faster and cheaper. Can be difficult to get it right the first several tries. Aesthetics is still in its stages, but it works well. The coatings over sizes the boolits about .002 ( this is a good thing especially if you use LEE molds)..

  15. So is HiTek coating basically epoxy? And when you say cheaper, you mean cheaper than powder paint? I powder coat my 300BLK boolits and its some pretty tough stuff ! So got me thinking that this should work well with Open guns .
  16. So is this smash test ( with a hammer I'm assuming), is sort of a required procedure for every batch/lot that is made?
  17. Just curious , due to jacketed cost and availability. Seems to be getting popular with bullet casters. They are pushing 2000+ fps with powder coated bullets in rifles and zero leading.
  18. Anyone here tried powder coated boolits in their Open gun?
  19. How many lbs is your recoil spring? I dont go less than 14# . And I case guage every round with the barrel.
  20. ANY accuracy issues with a Glock (and 1911's 2011's), I always look at barrel Lock-up FIRST !! http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=161141&hl=
  21. I see ONE long trigger .... Leverage ?
  22. You shouldn't mention ideas like this. This is gonna make me tear apart all seven of my powder charges and start polishing like crazy !!! :-)
  23. Ok, now that i can do. Might be a little slow but the electronic trickler would take forever. Varget will just be temporary(main use was for 260 , 308, & Grendel) .Will try TAC eventually when climate calms down.. Thanks guys
