  1. I would start with the 229 in USPSA. There are lots of local matches around me ANSI would suspect there would be around you as well. Start with the club locator on the USPSA web site and go to a match to watch first. Most everyone I have run intros very nice and will Help.

One thing I would recommend as well is reading the rule book even before showing up. For example it will help you understand the difference between production and limited.

Welcome to the sport and thank you for bringing in another junior shooter,

  2. Special recognition for Juniors (and Pre-Teens!) is a great way to bring in new shooters and increase interest for families, and that's a great thing for shooting sports.

My own kids would like to first win their age group and then beat the adults.

Mine too and let me tell you it will not take long unless I get a whole lot better quickly.

My 9 YO shoots production while the 13YO shoots open. I can still beat them both but as soon as the 13 YO actually starts practicing I am toast. Of course practicing together would be a great thing.

  3. I've pretty much settled on something set around a single stage or a dillon 550b. Extra money for a turret is getting close enough to a 550 I'd just as soon step on up. I don't think I've seen a negative comment about a dillon anywhere.

I own a rock chucker from RCBS for my single stage and a piggy back that converted it into a progressive. I still occasionally use the single stage for things like push through sizing of 40 cal. However the piggy back is collecting dust for more than a decade now.

  4. thanks for the replys. my bench is my from my weight lifting days that held all the plates and dumbbells. 4x4s, reinforced w/ 2x4s, lagged to the wall. shelves currently hold approx. 20,000 + bullets etc etc waiting being stuffed. maybe 5,000 loaded rds in 50 cal ammo cans so, sturdiness won't be an issue. its solid. still waiting to hear from dillon on my marketing idea for the 1050.

what is your marketing idea? Best I can tell the 1050 sells itself.

  5. Read all the FAQ's recommended while you wait in the arrival.

One of the things you will find is a need for a stable base. I had to add a 2x6 to my already sturdy bench to solve my priming issues.

Let us know how it goes. Lots of great information here.
