  1. Kingman are you able to get them back out using the cement without ruining anything, or are they just dedicated 9mm mags?
  2. Sarge this is exactly what I was looking for thank you. I forgot to mention the mag reloading issues i've been having when the basepad doesn't push the spacer all the way to the top of the tube. I will follow your instructions as per and try it out.
  3. Waddo, I've been using spacers in my STI mags for four years and never saw a reason to glue them in. I would worry about being able to clean the mags that way. Jack Jack what are you using for base pads. Are you not having the same problem with the spacer moving in the mag?
  4. It has recently been suggested to me to glue these spacers in the tubes to keep them in place and from rattling around. The +1 base pads I am currently using leave a gap between the bottom of the spacer and the base pad. I had originally intended on replacing the base pads with something else in order to eliminate the gap, and that is when it was suggested to glue in the spacers. I am wondering if this is something that everyone does, because it seems like a really good idea to me, but what I am worried about is getting them back out. Is it going to ruin my mag tubes if I decide I want to take them back out because the tubes are for 38Super/9mm. If down the road I want to use them for 38 super I will need to take the spacers out.
  5. I have yet to shoot a big match either. Though my biggest obstacle is the ratio of work/free time, I am still nervous and exited at the idea of competing in a big match. I am also a little curious how it works, if you are a lower class shooter can a better shooter knock you out or is it whoever gets their registration and fees in first?
  6. I am fairly new to the forum and have noticed from my very first post that I am guilty of this. Every topic I have brought up so far or asked questions about, there has been at least one, up to a few comments from members on how the same topic can be found elsewhere. It is not my intent to re-discuss topics or try and run conversations into the ground, however this forum has been around long enough that most questions you are going to have can most likely be found somewhere in this forum. This is great and I fully admit that I could read every post on every topic and probably learn everything I need to know about the sport. The problem I have with that is it leaves me no way to socialize with people and try to get to know them. I really thought that was a big part of this forum, not only to build trust between members in the classified section, but also to help build a community as well as a knowledge base.
  7. I asked some friends this same question and most everyone seems to agree that you should practice with what you are going to shoot.
  8. I find I have much better results with the Texas Star when I am shooting open. I have a few attempts with my limited gun that I am glad are not on video.
  9. Glad to be working, but wish I had more time to shoot. Less than 3K for the year
  10. I get all of my brass from brassworldeshop.com You have to check the site daily, but he sells once fired 9mm brass sorted by headstamp for $4.00/100. Shipping is a flat $6 on any amount. Thanks Desmo412 that sounds like a pretty good deal, I will look into it.
  11. Thanks, you wouldn't now a good place to get brass would you? Besides picking it up from the range
  12. I could do without the 3 gun matches, but I think I would really like to shoot a tactical rifle match.
  13. Mannnn this thing is so awesome.... I absolutely love the color.. This gun is beautiful, I love the grip. Does anyone know the make of the magwell?
  14. who makes that CMore Mount ... I love it I'm not a fan of side mounted Cmore's, but I have to admit that angle is pretty cool.
  15. STI Eagle 5.0 40S&W bought brand new from Dawson Precision. Gun was purchased with hard chrome finish, STI square hammer, DP fiber optic front sights and STI adjustable rears sights and a standard dust cover with a 5" bushing barrel. I had the STI magwell shaved down in order to compete in ESP division in IDPA. Change out STI magwell for DP Ice magwell and ready to compete in Limited division of USPSA. Changed out grip for Akai Custom stippled grip, had SVI Long Curved red trigger bow and insert installed, and wilson high ride ambi safety. This gun runs like a Train!
  16. I really appreciate this tip, I hadn't thought of that and I was considering a lined holster
  17. I took some pictures to show you, but I don't know how to upload them. I would appreciate the help if you know how.
  18. I have a beautiful hard chromed STI Eagle .40 S&W w\bushing barrel that I have set up for Limited in USPSA and ESP for IDPA. I use a Race Master holster in USPSA and that is where I shoot my majority of competitions. I recently competed in my first IDPA with this pistol and I already have the holster marks to show for it.
  19. I've got a buddy that will be able to show me around his XL 650, I am not sure how much will translate to the 1050.
  20. Tav where are you ordering your reloading supplies from? Since I don't plan on picking brass, I will need a good place to buy that aslo.
  21. That's good advice Tav, I am going to need some rifles to start filling the safe I have on the way!!! At least 1 AR and one shot gun to start.
  22. I think I would really prefer to have a Super 1050, but now there are a lot of examples in this thread that are making me second guess the XL 650
  23. Thanks for the link Brian, a lot of good tips (and stories) in that thread.
  24. That is good news fellas and exactly what I am looking to hear! The Super 1050 it is!
