  1. Get one set for large primers and one for small then you have easy caliber changes!
  2. I have 2 650's one set up for large primers one for small. Share a casefeeder between them. Large for 45 and small for 38 and 9mm. A 550 for other calibers. It is overkill with 2 650's but it sure is nice not having to change out the primer systems.
  3. They warranty electronics differently. Only 1 year I think.
  4. Well Dillon customer service and warranty are just unbeatable anywhere. My RL550 was shipped out to Dillon on the 3rd, they received it on the 10th and shipped it out on the 16th. It's back home today the 19th. They must have replaced almost everything except the frame! Smooth as silk and operating properly with over $217 in replaced parts. Dillon there is no substitute!!
  5. Found them here if it's ok to post a link. http://www.powerfactorshooting.com/product_p/tool-head-stand.htm
  6. Thanks for the replys so far. I have a 550 and 2 650's one 650 is set up with small primers for 38 and some 9mm, the other one with large primers for 45. I will be using the 550 for some rifle and other special loads 38-45ACP and 45 shot shells. I usually place a bullet on the case's in station 3 and 4 in the 650 for 45 so I know that I need to remove the bullet in station 3 and lower the handle to check that powder charge as I have a powder check die on all my 650 toolheads. Empty the machine sounds like a good option though. I use the same case feeder on both my 650's.
  7. Just wondering if you leave your operating handle down with cases in the dies when you stop reloading for the day or up? I have been leaving mine up with a bullet placed in the shell casings at station 3 and 4 to protect the powder charge. Any comments or suggestions as to why one way is better than the other? Curious minds (Mine mainly) want to know! Thanks for your replies!
  8. Here is the information from Dillon reference RL 550 service. "It sounds like your loader is in need of lubrication is all. We charge $67.95 for clean and lube service, which includes return shipping in the 48 contiguous US. We strip it down, clean it in the solvent tank, inspect it; replacing all worn or damaged parts (missing parts are not covered) and then re-lube and reassemble it. Typical In-house turnaround time is about 2 weeks." If this information will help you my press was not operating well and had been dropped/knocked over by one of our curious cats during a reorganizing move to a different bench. Got to love cats who think they need to rub up against and check out everything you are working with. They gave me a RMA number to return the press when they heard it had been dropped and possibly froze up. They received it the 10th so I will be looking to get it back in a couple of weeks.
  9. Well got tired of trying to get my RL 550 to cycle smoothly it seems to have had a tuff time of it in storage. Couldn't seem to get it to move back off the priming station, I was having to manually pull the operating handle back so I could index the casings. So it's off to Dillon hopefully they'll receive it on the 10th and I'll get it back this month yet. Still have my 2 650's one each for small and large primers to load my 45's and 38's on. But I wanted to get the 550 going for other calibers. I have a complete quickchange set up for 9mm on the 650. Only one case feeder but I do have it setup so I can just move it over the the press I'm using.
  10. Or better yet I have 2 650's one set up for small primers and one for large! And I have them where they can be mounted side by side and it's easy to move the casefeeder over to the one I'm useing at the time. Sure makes the change over easy plus the quick change toolheads already adjusted with the dies mounted. I usually leave one set for 45 and the other switch between .38 special and 9mm.
