  1. Back in '97 when Clays was new and original, I thought it might be worth considering for 45ACP loads. Boy was I wrong! The stuff meters like crap and I suffered a squib load during a match at a Jackson Hole Gun Club as a result. It is just too coarse for throwers of pistol caliber, one would be better off leaving it to shotgun reloaders where powder throwers have much more volume and therefore a lot more forgiveness. If it goes pop, you stop!
  2. I'm with Detlef! I just use empty magazines for dry fire mag changes. The only thing I really worry about is the neighbors calling the local police when I am practicing mag changes on the move in the back yard. Seems a middle aged white man running furtively back and forth across the grass with a big stainless gun makes one think one is not gruntled!
  3. Harkin Banks from the movie "Hot Dog, the Movie", classic 80's T&A flick!
  4. Singlestack, Your are a lucky dog! Around here we fish in the winter, but rod eyes tend get to iced up real fast and a dropper nymph on a nymph with two micro shot doesn't cast very well. I envy you, but I think I will wait until August and hoppers abound!
  5. Mr. Sunshine Group: Classified Posts: 2881 Member No.: 2038 Joined: 22-July 02 I'm sorry, but I accumulated enough 2nd and 3rd trophies when I was new in this thing. When I moved I chunked them. Enough said.
  6. I have been skiing for the past 29 years and shooting USPSA off and on since 1997 (although I've been "on" for the past year). I have tried snowboarding and even purchased one a few years back, but could not get over the claustrophobic feeling of having both feet strapped onto one single board and having ones shoulders parallel to the fall line (a very strange feeling to a die hard skier). It's all cool though!
  7. I carry .45 ACP 230 grain Federal Hydrashoks that my wife (she is a lot more tactical than I am) graciously gives me. I tend to agree with Elmer Kieth when it comes to large, slow bullets for dangerous game; much better for transfer of energy to your intended target!
  8. I agree with Tightloop. Screw the new shooters and their shooting experience! Once I got my C classification I too knew everything, headed to the Nationals, and never looked back!
  9. I intend to shoot two local matches a month (with the Idaho Society of Practical Shooters and the Gem County Rod and Gun Club), and the Idaho State Pistol Championship this year.
  10. I purchased a loaded SS Springfield in Dec of 2000 for $630. After a trigger job and having the chamber throated and polished it has digested thousands upon thousands of rounds and shows no signs of ever quitting. It too, is from Brazil and I think is a testament to Brazilian skilled labor. I don't know what a good price would be for a used model, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy mine again at the same price I did intially.
