  1. Agree with Roy here; STI Tactical long dust cover (light rail) is not a mod; it comes from factory that way?
  2. I have an STI Tactical 9mm with full lenght light rail dust cover in 9mm. It has a cone barrel and an STI magwell (which is too wide for the box); but if I replace the barrel with a bushing barrel nd the dust cover with and SVI (which fits inthe box); I'm assuming it's now legal. Your thoughts?
  3. I have an STI with a light rail extended dust cover; is it now legal?
  4. The pf of 165 for "enhanced revolver" doesn't make any sense to me. the new holsters rules are very open to mis-interpreatation by Safety Officers. I don't think that splitting the smallest division (revolver) in two makes any sense at all either.

    54? dat's a goood start for a 3rd grader
  6. There is an area person for socal; after the state match in 2003 a group of nocal clubs requested to have a nocal area (we have at least 8 active clubs and thougt we needed our own person) and that request was granted installing Ron Durham as area coorinator; I was part of that movement and organized the request process. Ron resigned in May (I believe) and I was asked by several of the nocal clubs to take the position. Written requests for me to replace Ron were sent by most of the nocal clubs to IDPA during June and early July. I've talked with hq several times and they have not made a decision whether they want to have a nocal coordinator and if so whether they want me; I have no idea why they have taken this long to act. I just wanted to clarify this situation; hope this helps. Tom Frenkel CL 129
  7. Thinking seriously about it; will decide in a week or two. Tom
  8. Kevin Chu, Thomas Chan, Jim Palomar won the three Glocks. Thanks to Chris Edwards at GSSF for helping us do this. Tom
  9. Despite dq'ing I have some ideas about this :-) KISS should apply. Score all guns the same; foget about major/minor, the shooters will adjust to it. Make hard rifle targets double scoring to keep people from blowing them off. No pistol only stages (we do that all the time). Don't leave a loaded weapon (seems more dangerous than unloading). The biggest problem with this match was number of stages and time allowed, there were several stages that were impossible to turn a squad in the hour provided, hence the logjam. Shoulda been 12 stages with some editing to make them all turnable within the hours. Small squads are far better (7-8 should be max). Keep the multi-gun stage; most of us love them. That's about it; and BTW I've been doing 3-gun since '88 and at Richmond we always do multi-gun and they are always scored major regardless for ease of scoring. Buffy the intrepid unloader
  10. What range, Erik who, which end, was there a mag in it?
  11. I just forgot to drop my rifle mag when I showed a locked back rifle to the RO; he said, "drop the hammer" and I went bang, then I went home. Brain fart on my part for sure; RO didn't help by not looking very well when he said, "unload and show clear" and missed a 30 rounder sticking out of my AR. But ultimate responsibility is on the shooter and I definitely accept it.
  12. Hi Bobby, Get one of the EGW dies (undersize) and get someone to hone the cylinders. I have one that shoots great and is no problem. Using Zero 125 with 4.4 VV320 with same Remington brass that I use in my other 38 supers. Hope it works out; that is my favorite S & W at the moment. Buffy
  13. I have a couple of 31's and a 30. Seems like they like round nose and nearly hardball duplication. I use 230 Zero with 5.4 231 and works fine in both models. Don't ever use lead bullets with a Glock, the lead definitely builds up and can cause big problems IMNSHO. Tom
  14. So I'm experimenting with powders for minor (135 PF) with 45 revolver. Clays burns cleanest of all I've tried and is the only one that doesn't leave any unburned residue. Red Dot, Tite Group, VV N320 all a tad dirty. 231, Bullseye, Unique all filthy. Anyone used Universal Clays or have any reccommendations? TIA Tom
  15. I have over 5K 255 grain .452 bullets that I hope to use in 1911 45acp; starting with 4 grains of Red Dot and planning to chrono Wednesday. Will report power factor and how it feels. Only have to make 647 for major with this weight bullet.
  16. The match staff (Michael Horne, Michael Waidelich, Lyle Wyatt, and many more) have decided to retire and this match may have been the last WC3gun--formerly known as SOF.
  17. An abnormal main shaft is a big problem; it usually gets worse with age, but can be helped with proper therapy. Your welcome,
  18. I have a Tasco PDP 4 with a 20 minute dot and it works fine. My head is off the stock, but it doesn't bother me at all. The little optima sights are too hard for me to see. On Benelli I have a Weaver rail screwed into the rib and on Remington an Al's Custom mount which attaches to rail. On the other hand, I hardly ever shoot open anymore
  19. Well I checked it out today with the MMC rear screwed all the way down and it printed nearly a foot high at fifty yards with slugs. Pattern at 15 yards on paper was 8" high approx. I'm gonna get a hi-viz and try it next week; any more suggestions are appreciated and I'll let yall know how it goes. Tom
  20. I just got a 21" vent rib barrel for my Benelli and don't know which front to use; the bead will most likely print too high as it's designed for bird shooting. Any suggestions out there? Anyone use the "Hi-Viz"? TIA
