  1. ! Now I didnt care for this one too much. 6 Mikes and 7 No shoots , 48 round stage. Hi Chuck, Great shooting with you and Ryan yesterday; that was a Ron Gunar evil special stage but at least no weak hand or weak eye; he does put us through some hoops :-) Tom
  2. WinLites? That's the name? http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/...leitemid=919582
  3. Anyone tried the WinLite rifled slugs? I'm just about out of my old stock of Federal and need a source. TIA Tom
  4. I would hate to see revolver division go away and have already written to Voigt and the board; I don't care how many people shoot revolvers, it's a valid division and shoud be maintained.
  5. Need to get sights installed, trigger job, and some stipling or checkering on a Browing HiPower and looking for suggestions of who does good work on these.
  6. Just started reading this thread and IMHO chrono of shotgun factory ammo is outright silly. Could go on and on, but what about choke factor in impact (e.g. an IC or Mod wll take down a popper that will stay standing after being hit with same load from a cylinder). It's just a major snafu waiting to happen.
  7. My decision is made - I am gonna send David/ Hearthco - Master of the Universe some samples of my brass and get the order going. absolutelly the only way to go with either 38super or 357 revolvers; Dave's clips are clearly worth the money (just ask me, I got more than anyone). BTW his hammers and Randy's triggers jobs are terrific also.
  8. "The blade did break! When I am shooting (looking from the rear blade), all I see is the white hole in the front post." BBQ: was that your little red thing? Buffy
  9. Have some PB from shotgun daze; anyone use this for pistols? There are loads listed on the IMR page, but I haven't tried any yet.
  10. Rule beater? No. Rule exploiter? Definitely. The 625 made speedloader guns obsolete in IDPA. Oh, when you find some 125pf .45ACP factory ammo you let us know. With the new division the moonies are now competing against each other and all those folks who want to shoot speedloader guns NOW have a level playing field. 45 acp revolvers have been around with moon clips andbeing download longbefore IDPA becare a thought in Bill Wilson's mind. I have once circa 1989 that I bought used and shot it in USPSA matches with minor load long before IDPA was startedl. Also the "factory load" issue is non existant and no one shoot 357 in the speed loader gun.s I maintain that splittingthe smallest division in two was silly and certainly not well thought out. BTW I have already qualifed ex with ESR at170 pf; not a big deal, just unnecessary.
  11. Not Italy although they have 400 shooters; they can't get response for hq about their own org, so they are probably disaffialiating.
  12. I think I may be the first 5 gun expert Did a 107 with ESR two weeks ago and already was 4 div ex.
  13. My favorite moonclip revolver is the 686 38 super which in L frame and weighs about the same as the .357s (which are way downloaded of course for competiton/no one uses real .357 loads either). It's a terrific revolver that I don't want to shoot major pf, so it's now a fun gun only or USPSA revolver shooting minor.
  14. You need to get leather gear. Being from the Bay Area, I am familiar with leather, so I now have legal leather for all my IPDA guns and have retired my previously legal kydex because there is so much air to be seen. Hmmmm..... I detect a bit of bitterness and sarcasm, but it's not real as I love to spend money BTW Milt Sparks gear is great and they are only a couple of months back ordered. The Sparks Bruce Nelson is the way to go IMHO unleas hq outlaws leather and goes back to Kydex next year.
  15. "Rule beater?" It actually was entirely legal until the rules were changed. I believe that .45acp revolvers with moon clips were around a long time before IPDA or any other action shooting sport. I have one that dates to the fifties (barrel says 1955 target on it); and it shoots great with light or heavy loads. Don't know when full moon clips were invented, but half moons go back to WWI. I still think there is no reason to have two revolver divisions; but I've already classifed EX with a 610 and 170 pf loads. I also think that SSR with speed loaders is much easier than any other division for classification, but that's only an opionion.
  16. That's very slow for Jerry; try 2 seconds
  17. 610 is ideal for ESR; I shot the classifier with it Sunday and bested my minor times from last year using 170 pf loads. It weighs in at 50 0z and is very accurate with several bullets. I used Oregon Trails 185 with 4.5 VV N320 for a 170 pf and easily made expert to be a five div expert if and when hq updates that part of the web page.
  18. As Bill said, diameter and circumference are very different. Here is a picture of the type of carrier I think item F was specifically targeting. This one is by Blade-Tech. As you can see it does not support the full diameter of the moon clip (it only supports one side) and the clip is only held by a couple cartridges. I also think that the new rules will prohibit hanging moon clips off your front pocket, or hanging two moon clips off one Shoot the Moon carrier since this creates the same kind of setup as pictured above. Just my totally unofficial opinion. -Vincent "holding by two" also applies to use the shoot the moon using only the front part of the clip to improve speed by hanging the cartridges by two on the front side only.
  19. 231 is ok for 38 special, but in light 45acp loads it is filthy and will gum up your extractor star. Clays is the best for light 45acp because it burns cleanly in bigger cases at low velocity. I use 4 grains of Clays for major with 230 fmj or 3.5 clays for minor with 200 plated bullet.
  20. I bougt a case a couple of years ago and it sucked big time for accuracy. I use PMC for anything up to 100 yards and Federal match (69 Sierra) for anything further out. Same impact at 200 yards if I need it.
  21. I'm shooting 4.5 VV 320 with 185 Oregona Trails RN bullet for a 170 pf from my 610. It's stiff, but it shoots well and is better than cranking up my 686 super to that pf. Anyone else checking this division out?
  22. Arredondo has wedge pads that work also. The metal pads needs to have their edges rounded as they are very sharp.
  23. This was a superlative but grueling 3-gun match. Great stages throughout; big kudos to Ron Fihlo for doing the heavy lifting. There weren't enough RO's so it ran long each day, but overall everyone I talked with loved it. Tom
  24. So what about speed loader holders? Also do you really want to cut down a 627? The shortest I know of is the 5" 357 except for the 327 which weighs 21 oz and would be a bear for 165 pf.
