  1. yeah, I get the training aspect, I'm talking about the ones that end up on youtube with a soundtrack LOL. (BTW - don't take me too seriously...)
  2. Not to be a PIA but have you noticed the trend that EVERYBODY must record EVERY stage of EVERY match with their GoPro while their buddy has their smartphone in the background...even better, "hey, I know your on deck but can you record me?"
  3. that's what I figured, wont change me from this powder, I've been a fan for years - in shotgun now pistol. Surprising results with MG 180 JHPs yesterday. I developed a load with the FL Open coming up, could not get PDs', 4.6 e3 with 1.185 OAL Fed SPMM primer got me ~170 PF. I thought it would take a lot more. My Brazos has a slow barrel too. My friend with his STI and he uses 4.3 to get PF. I loaded up to 4.9 - felt like defense loads!
  4. Had my first negative experience with e3 - never mind that I completely wonked the match in Ruskin yesterday... It was really humid and I was shooting towards the sun at three targets in a row. Put down quite the smokescreen enough to get some crap from the other shooters. Using SnS poly coated cast. Never had that problem before and it really didn't show up again later in the day.
  5. Has same issue even with zev extended tip striker and 4# spring. The SPM were the worst. Put them in my .40 loads for both STIs and they go off 100%
  6. Try the luxurious Sun Ray, close to range, nice family live on site. It ain't the Ritz but where a lot of us WAC guys stay.
  7. with you there, I don't want separate loads for two guns, its a PIA
  8. shooting great is great until you don't make chrono at a major match
  9. I needed 4.5 @ 1.135 for my G35 with PDs
  10. My Brazos must have a slow barrel because I have to load about .2 grains more than you guys to make major. 180 SnS Coated 4.1 e3 @ 1.185 gets me 165.2PF - im bumping to 4.2 for cushion 180 PD FMJ 4.6 e3 @ 1.185 gets me 166.6 PF and 4.7 is 170.3 My kids new STI needs much less to make PF, guess the Storm Lake bull barrel in my gun is slower
  11. I got a great deal from a guy here on the classifieds. My son loves the new Edge.
  12. ok, I accept that, then where is this data published? I see you are part of the e3 gang here and contribute but my opinion is the makers are slow or not interested.
  13. You can't rely on the manufacturers to produce load data for e3. Alliant has been deaf to this for a couple years. Its been up to us. A lot of competent people here on BE with good tested data.
  14. 5.0-5.2 grains... WOW! ... that skeers me right there, honestly I would try 4.3-4.5 as a start. I load 4.5 e3 at 1.135 for FMJ. Do a search a bunch of us have been filling in the Alliant e3 load data black hole.
  15. Appreciate the warning. I've done quite a bit of testing and research on using e3. I've run close to 3000 rounds loaded short @ 1.135. e3 is similar in burn speed but pressure characteristics are not the same (almost like titegroup IMO). It does not spike as quickly as does clays. Burn speed is sometimes misleading, although a good indicator, but ultimately it is not a standard to judge absolute pressure characteristics which will also be different each different caliber. I've run now about 500 rounds through my Brazos and it has functioned flawlessly with the shorter OAL.
  16. ok, no BS, we had a guy show up with body armor the other night.
  17. that stuff makes a mess no matter what, extremely small granules. I had the same with my LPPM
  18. Hi, Need some advice... Just got a Brazos STI and intended to sell my G35 - so my son shoots it in a match and now wants to shoot LTD. No problem keeping the gun I'd prefer to not load two lengths for two different guns. Shot a major match this weekend with my Glock loads @ 1.135 and the STI ate them 100%. My friend who sold it to me said it ran WWB with no issue. Question is do I lose anything at this length in the STI? I'm not looking for that gnat's ass accuracy difference, I'm the culprit there. I'm talking power factor and reliability from those that do it. I run 180 Precision D's or MG's with titegroup and now e3 for the time being. Will keep using Federal primers. Thanks!
  19. I got a Brazos Custom Pro Series from a good friend who wants to build an open gun for 3-gun. Having never shot it before I participated in the Southwest Florida Custom Gun Classic in Punta Gorda - One of the best matches of the year but because of the people. My friends talked me into it. I was a bit worried about ND'ng because the trigger is just crazy compared to the Glock. Had to remind myself to set and then ride the safety. It ran my .40 loads @ 1.135 with zero problems. Yes, there is a big difference. Placed 18th out of 54 and top 10 on a few stages having never shot the gun (or any 2011) before. I think it's a keeper. Have to convert it to a lefty. Now I have to learn not to jerk the S#$% at of the trigger! Thank you Adrienne
  20. just saw a similar thread - how'd I miss that... then again how do I miss targets right in front of me lol
  21. Good Morning all, To start off this is NOT a Glock vs. STI thread (thanx)... I would like to learn from those that have moved from the Glock 35 Limited to an STI platform. I have an opportunity to get into a Brazos STI Edge with all the upgrades. (Yes I have used the search function). I'd like to really know the differences beyond the obvious - the learning curve, and whether or not its really worth the investment. Let me point out I'm not outshooting my gun - I'm 3% off of A and when I get my s@#$ together run it really well. It's super reliable, has the good upgrade parts and IMHO shoots really flat and my trigger is as good as you can get in a Glock. I have had shot 2011 guns but never a match nor trained with one so I get the weight and trigger differences from casual use. I do appreciate the fit and finish of a finer firearm and agree there is an advantage to better equipment. I learned that through surfing, skiing, and diving - when I upgraded it did help me spring to the next level and hopefully this will be part of me upping my game. Thoughts?
