People will tell you to chase the power factor floor and then add some "overhead". Just know that sometimes a hotter load can be more accurate and on the timer the difference is subjective. A good example is major power factor in open guns. 165 makes major but a lot of guns run better in the mid 170's because more gas runs certain comps better.

Hi,
I have a new to me STI GrandMaster in 9mm major. It has a recoil mater in there now. I bought a ss guiderod and a 8# and 9# springs. What would you think is about the same as the RM?... 9#?
-
I say boycott those companies... most get into reloading after a while and its like pooping where you eat. Call it kase kharma. I'm reloading major 9 know if its just plain hazardous.

Anybody experiment with this. I got a ridiculous deal on a SS fluted bull 16" with a Wylde chamber. Its a carbine gas system - guess that why I got the great deal. I am trying an adjustable block on this to see if I can get it to be something similar to a middy... thoughts?

I use a laundry bag and set it on top of my AC unit. The bag is pretty thick but dries really quick in my Florida heat...

they should be .310 or .311... just watch the hot loads with .312 as they'll be some swaging going on. I have shot .308 and the weren't "terrible"

so still searching for lefty thumb rests. My buddy Art J. is going to put it on for me. So far all I see offered is the DAA adjustable and the RHT... am I missing any? No custom stuff please my machining skills are limited to a dremel!

My Trubor with the T1 comp chrono'd 125 RMR JHP with 8.2 HS6 @ 168.2 PF. I'm upping it to 8.5 to get a little over 170.

100% with H335 and Varget

I went with my friends GrandMaster Trubor he was getting rid of, he has like 800 guns... reason I bought it was I KNOW it ran 9mm reliably. In fact it runs factory and my minor ammo too.

I ordered 1k of the RMR 124 JHPs as I started shooting open recently (eyes getting worse). Typically I used PD or MG for minor competition loads. I loaded these under 7.0g of AutoComp at 1.168. Shooting them through and STI GrandMaster they are very accurate and feed good. They gave me a discount code due to a little snafu shipping - really no big deal so I ordered another 3,000 and will load them under HS-6 8.3g. I'll post back but I am happy with the bullet and performance. My defense load I use hornady or just buy factory and could not really care about the RMR defense load capability.

just be a aware some clubs don't allow bigger than 7.5 shot

yeah they are not cheap though, .308 bullets can work sometimes

Hi all,
Did the usual search. About to buy a right-handed Grandmaster that has a setup for a righty with the racker and *thumb rest [generic]*. Looking to hear from the other south paws on the best setup to get a pedal on the "right" side. Also, do they made that much a difference? never used one on my Brazos limited gun.

I think you might have a problem with 7/8 on the farther big steel poppers.

I use plated for local matches and practice, JHPs for competitions - load to give same feel

Aftecs run almost forever, have them in mine and sons limited guns. My Brazos come with it - Bob doesn't screw around. I have well over 25k rounds through it.

do you guys find it super cruddy in the gun?

regarding win primers - Tom from Alliant replied to an email that Nobel Sports and Cheddites are reasonable substitutes are a little less hot than win. I used to shoot league trap and have literally shot thousands based on this advice. Another is the wads - certain wads are ballistic similar to each other and 3rd parties specifically make Win substitutes based on this even though they look completely different. Some manufacturer load manuals show this some don't.
The thing here is that if you are new to shotshell reloading - don't screw around to much - stick with subbing similar primers to start and then learn the loading process. For instance a super dangerous thing to do is sub a 1oz slug in a 1oz shot load because both compress at ignition differently. I know people do it but its not very scientific! The key here is that "following the book exactly" is a bit extreme even though its is the best advice for new reloaders. When I (and others) go off the reservation its not by a great deal and its usually done conservatively with research that includes touching base with the power supplier, etc, and then with a chrono in hand.
