  1. Jlweems I'm thinking you may have missed what I was trying to point out. Yes there is a very real difference on a two way range. My point is that I would hope that any shooting sport would encourage LEO participation. Trigger time helps all.
  2. If you are looking for max pf, its great. Softball stuff, not so great.
  3. Wow! I've read though this whole thread. I would like to make a small point or two. Regardless, of the perceived "gaming" by LEOs, I guess I'm missing something. The fact is most LEOs are NOT GUN FOLKS. The vast majority can barely qualify with their weapons. Historically, in a real fight their hit ratio runs about 20 percent. Why do I make this point? I would hope that the "spirit" of the rule is to encourage participation by LEOs. If there are LEOs trying to use some perceived advantage, that should be easily identified by their performance. Act accordingly. If there was ever a group of people who needed practice its LEOs. It has been my experience that very few LEOs go to competitions. I would think that fostering that would be a healthy thing for all. And yes, that user name of mine has a practical application.
  4. If you run a 1050 - they are the work of the devil!
  5. Don't get too greedy. Reliability and accuracy trump vel. any day.
  6. Go back to your 3.5 and call it good.
  7. Lyman has lots of loads for Power Pistol in both .40 and 10mm with lead. Whether they work for you I can't say. I've used it with lead in 40/10mm/45acp. I try and find a middle of the road load.
  8. I've had very good luck with their 200 and with both Universal and 231. My 200 load with 231 will easily hit 900 fps in a G35 with a Storm Lake bbl.. I doubt you will need that much. I used starting loads for the 200 jacketed bullets and worked my way up.
  9. You may have better results than I did with Berry's. I could not get the 180 to hold "min. of berm" at over 800 fps. in either a stock G35 bbl or a Storm Lake in the 35. To me they are a very soft coated bullet.
  10. He should be good as long as he takes the bipod off first. That said, some folks can CCW some supprisingly large weapons. Not a IWB though, and not in the summer. I carry a full size, full weight 1911 with x-mags all day, everyday, everywhere (sheep Dog) . I don't even want to think about for how long, I'm 55 now (good shape though) . Never been a issue. I'm 5'10'' and have a 34 wast, 155 lbs. I hate IWB and will not use one, and its HOT here on the border! I have the authority to open carry if I want - but that's only about 20% of the time and mostly conducting training. There is some skill (how to) required in carrying a weapon either CCW or open regardless of its - or your size. Having someone make your weapon when it should be concealed is at best an embarrassment, and some who CCW can be charged with brandishing under some State's laws. One size does not fit all. Training helps. And yes a "reasonable" sized weapon helps. The key is REASONABLE. But as the man says, observe, orient, decide, act. We all don't live in the same world. We all don't wear the same size pants. Your Boogie man is not my Boogie Man. There was an advertizing campaign out for a while. It said something to the effect that life or death decisions are made at the cash register. I liked that.
  11. I've had good luck with Blade Tec on some strange stuff -- give them a call.
