  1. I too reload S&B all the time with little or no problems, along with most everything else that is reloadable. Throw away the A-Merc. MGK
  2. I am not familiar with the powder. You might try their web site for load data. THe major powder companies have load data on their web sites MGK
  3. I only sort to get rid of the garbage; CCI, Wolf, Amerc, split cases. I am not convinced that sorting brass will have that great of an effect on my shooting ability or accuracy. There are simply too many variable involved; crimp, OAL, bullet type, powder used, etc. that can also have an effect. I can't justify, for me, all the sorting and organizing of the various head stamps. I shoot and reload, because it is a hobby that I enjoy. I don't need "SOMETHING ELSE" to do with yields limited value to me, I have enough of those activities everyday. My 02 MGK
  4. I check my dies before and after each reloading session and clean accordingly. MGK
  5. Pistol Jim I live outside Lockport and the Oak Park Sportsman club is on my way to work. It is very resonable drive for me and will allow me participate more in the sport. I didn't even know it was there. I wil email them and get some info. Thanks again MGK
  6. Rhino I believe Chesterton is a Gary Indiana suburb. Pistol JIM - What is the name of the club in Plainfield, IL that will be shooting IPSC next year? THat would be the closest for me MGK
  7. Bucky I have wanted to try either of these for a while now. A friend, pushed me a little closer to doing it. 9/11 reawakened my love affair with firearms and I have been growing in this sport/hobby, every since. Thanks, OSAMA! IDPA/USPSA is simply the next logical step on my journey. I will pursue it as far and as often as family, work, time and money permits. Thanks for all the replies. MGK
  8. Forgive me if this subject has been beaten to death, but I am interested in getting involved in the sport and would like to know the practical differences between USPSA and IDPA. I plan shooting a Springfield 1911A1 .45 in either one. What are the must haves? Which are the better clubs in either Northern Illinois, Indiana or Southern Wisconsin. Thanks in advance MGK
  9. On my data sheets, which are 3" x 5" index card, that I setup on Word and print as I need them. I would add an area for evaluation purposes: Summarize what you liked, disliked about the load or problems. Was the load for testing, load development load or plinking load, etc. I keep track of all my load data on Excel, where I also calculate my savings by reloading and materials bought and where and rounds made. Don't forget to back it up My .02
  10. Eric W and all You were correct it was the crimping die was set too tight, now my oal's are much closer to spec. My seating die, being a lee can be used for seating and crimping. I have it backed off three full turns so I don't use the crimp feature. I am using a Dillon drimping die in stage 4. Another contributing issue, is the lead bullets, I am using occasionally has some substandard quality lead bullets that contribute to the OAL problem. I learned more about the press, so it was a good exercise. THanks for the help and here's to better quality rounds! MGK
  11. The video helped, but it didn't provide all the answers. I could use a little updating My.02 MGK
  12. Eric Thanks for the reply I measured the OAL before and after the crimp and wasn't finding the difference there. Why would over belling the case effect my oal? I will give it a try. MGK
  13. Hi all A question, just to gain some insight from those a little more experienced with the 550 than I. I am reloading 9mm on a Dillon 550 using Lee Dies and mixed brass with 3.9 gr Titegroup and 125 gr LRN. I load a single round at a time and I get an OAL from 1.10 to 1.14. I go to progressive mode and the OAL jumps to between 1.15 and 1.21. The OAL seems to run between 1.14 and 1.16 with an occasional 1.21 There is some flex in the tool head, is this the cause? Any other ideas, just curious. I haven't had any feed problems, but I don't want either. What has been your experience? MGK
