  1. You mentioned Arredondo you might be interest in this video of there nXg comp in action. http://www.xdtalk.com/forums/ar-talk/178087-arredondo-nxg-comp-video-action-full-auto.html

  3. Wow! Very nice builds/rifles! Any particular thought process behind each or just testing a variety of parts? When does the testing begin?
  4. Yea I'm thinking I might just swap out the furniture and sell it as a "classic" lpk and get another lpk. Or just run the CMMG fire control group. The rifle i'm istalling it in is not directly being built for competiton. I'm building it more or less because I can and to try out a different profile from my first build.
  5. I ordered a Palmetto State Armory MOE lower build kit which arrived today. It came with the MOE grip, MOE trigger guard and PSA LPK. The price was too good to pass up $59.99 after shipping considering the MOE grip and guard run about $30 alone.. The first time I ordered a lower build kit from PSA they included the CMMG LPK but now they produce there own. On my first build I used everything but the CMMG fire control group (Trigger/Disconnect/hammer) and used the RRA 2 stage National Match trigger group instead. So when I got home I inspected the LPK and compared the PSA fire control group to the CMMG I still have. I noticed differences between the two and would like an opinion on what the differences mean as well as which would be the better choice to use. I took a picture for all to look over and give me feed back. I'm not sure what the differences mean as far as function if someone could give me a heads up that would be great. Or am I just over analizing the two? The fire control group on the left from top to bottom is the PSA covered in oil from PSA. The fire control group on the right from top to bottom is CMMG.
  6. Thanks guys! I've got a carbine buffer shipping out on Tuesday. A member on another forum has a box full of spare carbine buffers and offered to send me one. I spoke with PWS and the enhanced buffer tube works fine on both piston and DI guns. The effects are greater on piston rifles then DI but it still reduces recoil for both. I'm fairly sure it's just over dampening with the combination I've chosen. I'm hoping the carbine buffer fixes the problem. I really like the PWS buffer tube it fits extremely well and helps balance the rifle out, being I'm running a stainless steel barrel. Both add a little weight but I'm comfortable with it.
  7. As far as the carbine buffer is concerned are they all the same? I noticed the price for a standard carbine buffer ranges from $8.50-$17 depending on what site I get it from.
  8. Thanks for all the input guys! Yea I'm going to try going with a Carbine buffer and see if that fixes the problem. If that doesn't do it I'll remove the PWS buffer tube and install my standard mil-spec buffer tube. If still no go I'll swap springs. If that doesn't do it I'll try a different BCG but I don't think thats the problem.I'm sure I've just slowed everything down too much by the add ons. Now it's more finding the balance. Unfortunately all the rifle ranges are atleast an hour away so it will be a week or two before I can get back. My buddy took a 18 sec video clip towards the end of my shooting and it looks like the shell is coming out at about 3-3:30ish but it still didn't lock back. It locked back sometimes and appeared to throw brass properly some of the time.
  9. Thanks! Ill order carbine buffer and go from there. But I'm thinking the PWS buffer tube is the problem. The Spikes buffer and SSS spring I didnt really find any problems linked to be used on mid length systems during my research. The PWS tube I knew very little about and missed the part about piston rifles when I ordered it. I had already bought it so I figured I'd give it a go...
  10. Also is it possible the Federal value pack ammo was under powered for my set up? I have a few other brands and grains I didnt get to try. I was going to run them see how they do or should I start with swapping parts?
  11. I have an extra milspec buffer tube ,spring and H buffer already in my possesion. I thought about doing a little mix and match. Or I could just install the basic milspec buffer assembly to see if I obtain proper ejection. That will either fix the problem or rule out the buffer tube, buffer and spring.
  12. I built the lower and the BCM upper assembly was purchased whole from BCM.
  13. Ammo Federal (100 round value pack) 55gr fmj BCM 16" SS410 (stainless steel) 1/8 twist Midlength gas system Spikes T2 buffer Superior Shooting Systems buffer spring PWS enhanced buffer tube (has a dampner in the tube) All MagPul mags brand new BCG JTR (Johnson Tactical Rifles)
  14. I finally got out to the range and had a very nice time. Managed to zero my irons and do my break in as suggested by BCM. Put 100 rounds thru it with no FTFs or FTEs. The rifle appears to be more accurate then I. I was able to put some of my follow up shots thru the first hole at 50 yards but not on a constant bases. My primary concerns were function, getting used to the rifle, breaking it in and zeroing my irons. I have two concerns! First my BCG doesn't always lock back when the mag is empty. Second concern is my brass ejection. It appears to be ejecting some where in the area of 4:30-6:00 with some brass deflecting off the rifle it self. From the charts listed for ejection pattern it seems to suggest that either it's short stroking, my buffer and or my BCG is too heavy, or my my SSS spring needs tuning. This is my first rifle and I need help on where to start narrowing the problem down? Or is this a common when a rifle is first breaking in and all the new parts are learning to work together as they work out inperfections of machining or forming unions in order to function properly? Thanks- Jason
  15. Have you looked at Vltor rails? http://www.vltor.com/casv-sub.htm
  16. Here is another option one I will be purchasing very soon. http://www.superiorshootingsystems.com/AR15_Trigger_Springs-AR_15_CS_Trig_Hamr_spring_set.html
  17. I know Nikon is. I was thinking was thinking the same thing.
  18. I'll take a second look at the Burris PEPR mount. Thanks!
  19. Thanks guys! It has boiled down to these 4 scopes. Nikon M223 1-4x20mm BDC 600 reticle for $260 ( with free Nikon mount) Burris Fullfied TAC30 1-4x24mm($260)with American Defense Recon QD mount ($150)= $410 Aimpoint Comp C3 with American Defense QD mount $489 SWFA SS 3-9x42 Tactical 30mm Riflescope ($600)with LaRue Tactical SPR-E LT-139 ($215)= $815 I'm constantly going back and forth but my gut feeling is the Burris Fullfield TAC30 is the right choice.
  20. Whats the over all take on getting a higher quality scope in something like 3-9X42 30mm with a First Focal Plane Mil-dot (non illuminated)at twice the price ($600) verses the other scopes at half the price ($300+/-) with illuminated reticles? I'm looking for a training tool for me to start with as much as something I can use in competitions. Or is that the best approach? Buy it, run it, keep or swap depending on my evaluation and results? I'm not trying to go out and get the cadillac of scopes before I've used one. Just something solid I can learn to use well and improve thru time. I'm thinking I think too much at times...
  21. Yet another option... I could get a new Aimpoint C3 2moa and American Defense 68H quick release mount for $489 from Aimsurplus.com . But I was thinking a scope would be a better training tool. Eventually I would like to get into 3 gun. But I still need a shotgun for that... On the other hand the Aimpoint would still have a home on my summer build rifle when I decided to switch.
  22. I wanted a longer handguard but then I have spend even more money getting low pro gas block and front sight to replace my current A2 sight. I find that I just keep spending money and not shooting. So im going run with this and evaluate the set up and go from there. Maybe swap to 18 inch barrel later on. Just ready to go shoot! But I'll definately keep what you said in mind.
  23. I've built the rifle already it's pictured at the bottom in my signature. I running a BCM 16" SS410 (stainless steel) barrel, 1/8 twist, Nato Match chambered (USMC SAM-R. I currently have a troy 9" TRX standard (free float) battlerail on it. I ordered a Troy 9" TRX Extreme (free float) rail which I'll swap out my current one with. The front end feels a little heavy and the new rail will shave roughly half a pound off the front end weight wise. I will use the current rail on my summer build. It's the only part of the build I've had to change so far. Hopefully nothing else until much later if at all. Only time will tell...
  24. Yea I'm definately looking at sticking with 30mm tube. I can get the Burris TAC30 around $270 and a American Defense Recon mount around $150. Which would be more with in my set budget. I'm know buying quality glass is important but I also want money for ammo and range time which is what I need most. The scope is more of a want then a necessity at this point.
