Hello,
Here's my situation right now, I am trying to set up my Dillon Sizing Die (223) on my 550 followed all the instruction as dillon manual.
Using Hornady LNL Headspace Gauge,
Fired case measures 1.465
Factory Loaded Ammunition ( Remington) 1.461
Because the Remington Ammo is giving me 100% reliability and a very decent accuracy, I decided to duplicate the remington brass profile, Size and Bump the Shoulder by .004, which resulted in 1.461 reading to my caliper/hornady headspace gauge.
Proceeded to make a dummy round using the sized brass, to my surprised, there is a big change on my reading, it now turns out 1.457. which a bit shorter.
Can anybody please share your thoughts on this. thanks

I have been debating on selling my Leupold Mark 6 1-6 to have some money and getting this as a replacement. After reading through all of this, I think that is probably what I'm going to do!
GO GO GO,

Jamie,
thanks for reviews and your post for the Razor, Now I have 2 of these excellent scopes, and to Omar for a fast shipping to my U.S. address, although it took another 2 weeks to finally land to my Canadian Residence, I have to used a U.S. exporter and a Canadian importer to legally bring it to Canada.
Has anybody tried to lightened the magnification ring on their Razor, I find it on the stiff side, although Scott of Vortex mentioned that it was purposely designed to protect the erector especially since majority of the Razors owners are 3 gunners and used the throw levers. If only the Razors weighs in the 12-140zs, it would be perfect. So far so good.

I am still setting up my 550 press for the rifle and using dillon 223 dies. My question is on the SEATING Die which features a Seating Stem, what is the primary purpose of the seating stem, reading from the instructions to adjust the OAL its either screwing the die up or down. I am familiar with the pistol SEATING DIE, but it doesnt come with the seating stem though. Any insight on this please. thanks

I have shot 40 in open way back late 90's, like it, lots of powder to choose from ,But my problem was on the bullet availiability, I found out that the 135 gr was ideal bullet for my set -up, unfortunately before I moved to North Am, we dont have so much alternative, so I save my 135gr. for level 3"s and use the 155gr. lead. on practicce and club shoots.
Hybrid Commander bbl with 3 holes, and 3 top ports/2 side comp, powder was Vhit,105
Now Im shooting major 9, the only plus side is brass availiability, I would say my open 40 before was lightter, shoots softer and flatter than my 9 currently. Even here in the North, 135 gr. 40sw bullet is not common and hard to come by unless you are willing to pay premuims.
For optimum open caliber, I would say the Super family is still on top.

Thats good news for me, the auto brightness feature of the current RTS is what holding me to try this sight. I will just have to wait for the "new version" then;

Hello,
What do think about this combo of dies? on a 550, gun-AR
Forster Full Lenght Sizing Die, is this availiable in Small Base?
Forster Bench /Ultra Seating Die
Lee FCD
I was looking at Dillon Carbide Size Die, but its hard to come by this time.
Your comments and opinions are all welcome, I need to hear the Plus/Minus of these Dies and ease of use. you can also recommend some brands.
thanks
-
base on the consensus, Carbide dies is woth paying the extra cash? I dont mind waiting for 8 weeks, I still have to call Giraud for his Trimmer anyways.
Is it only Dillon that offers SB Carbide ides ( for AR).
-
Which one would your prefer, any advantage with the carbide, both needs to be lube still. Is Dillon resizing Dies either carbide or steel ideal for an AR. thanks

I would say, get the extended if you shoot nose to charging handle or if you aren't sure.
You can always bring the entire mount closer to your face.
Not my rifle, but you get the idea, plenty of room to move the whole mount back on the receiver.
A Roberts,
thanks for the pics, you made it easy for me to decide,
-
thanks for pics, so the slightly forward works fine.
hope somebody with Extended will post some pics too.
-
Howdy,
My optic is the Razor Gen2 1-6
Your experience and advice of which of the 2 Bobro 30mm precision mount
Slightly Forward 1.9 "or the Extended model- (2.6" from the first ring)
thanks
-
Larue SPR-E. Scope definitely wants to be far forward.
Vortex has a dual QD mount with 3" of offset that works well and is quite a bit less expensive than the Larue and manufactured by American Defense.

Omar,
Hows the RTZ ( return to Zero) feature of this mount.
thanks
-
I had the chance to looked into the PST 1-4, although it was okay but the glass is not the best, cant fault Vortex for that,, considering its price range. I might be wrong but my Eotech G33 has a clearer glass.
Right now Im conditioning my brain to spend for the Razor.
-
okay lets talk about the mount, Larue, Bobro or Vortex(ADM)??, which of these are you using, and any paticular model.
thanks
-
thanks for all your feedbacks, after reading your opinions I zeroed my option to the PST 1-4 and RAZOR 1-6, whats holding me is the price difference between the 2 scopes, this weekend my buddy will let me handle his PST and will go from there,
gonna take an ADVIL,
-
I cant seem to decide which of these 3 Vortex to get, suggestions and experiences would be very welcome and helpfil, by the way in no way I'm well versed to powered scopes, just a few experience, my exposure is more on the red dot for pistol.
Most likely I will only be shooting from 15 to max of 200 or push a liitle further to 300 yrds.( AR 14.5 bbl) CQB and once in a while 300 yrds for precision practice.
Can you Gentlemen comment of the lens clarity, Fov, Eye Relief etc.to the 3 models
PST- like the price, but its on the SFP
RAZOR HD 1-4, FFP which I like, but big difference on price vs the PST, any comparison to clarity,Eye Relief between the 2
RAZOR HD 1-6 , SFP, more pricey, but more power, and price difference between the HD 1-4 is not much.
thanks,
-
is your mount on the left side only? if it is, make it both sides man. we already broke 2 rts sights bec of the one side mount
Pare,
who made your mount?
thanks
-
I have shot both I would stay with the Serendipity
Brian,
would you be kind enough to elaborate on this, because I am also contemplating of changing my worn out std Cmore to RTS
thanks
-
I have the same problem with my Cmore, its the Elevation adjustment in my case, after 400-500 rnds you can see literally the elevation adjustment screw has moved.
I tried the nail polish remedy ( color pink, just kidding), its not permanent thing and can be easily wash out with acetone. ,Now its holding zero up to 1k, before I rechecked or rezero.
-
Got it back from C-More. They could not duplicate the problem but completely replaced the electronics anyway. Its working great now.
That's good customer service! They could have easily just sent it back to me and said no problem found.
thanks
-
I like the looks of the setup, that's for sure. I think my STI might get a change soon.
Anxious to hear how it holds up to some blasting!
Just put the same setup on my STI. Got about 500rds through it. Dot is changing brightness while shooting even with switch in manual position.
Called C-MORE and sent it back for "evaluation".
Hope to have it back in a couple days.
I like it and hope they can correct the issue.
Cheely mount is great. Very well done!
Cavy,
Any updates on your RTS, is problem common to the RTS
thanks

I forgot to mentioned at present I am using the EGW 8 PORTS 6 CHAMBERS( 4 tops 4 sides) and bbl with 2 ports, It shoots flat, but its heavy. HS7 works best with my setup -9.8gr and Zero 125JHP.
I was hoping with Shoto it will lightened the gun a little bit. I dont mind putting more holes on the bbl. I can still make major 165PF IPSC.
My 25lbs of hoarded HS7 are almost gone, plannning of swtiching to HS6.
I am entertaining the idea of milling the buffer on my side ports and make one HUGE BUFFER WITH SIDE PORT,

measured the fired brass using Hornady headspace gauge (1.465),then resized measured (1.461) and trimmed ( 1,750)
here's what I found, tried to took out some variables, I made another dummy round without crimping, and yes it did not change the reading from my caliper it remains 1.461, I did not realized that applying some crimp will change the reading of my headspace gauge, or it could I applied to much crimp?
