  1. There is a max length and then a trim to length.

1.76" is the max you want. 1.75" is the length you trim to so that as it grows that 0.001, it is still ok.

So the magic question is, how long are they ?

    A *quick* check of 20 of them this morning 9/8/12. Most 1.764". A couple a little longer 1.767". A couple 1.687"

For plinking what's wrong with .005" over?

I can trim them, but want some compelling reason to do so......

    *** Edit....

Just called Dillon. There is a compelling reason. If the case is too long it will extend into the rifling causing the case pressures to be too high.

So my next question was: Since I don't care about accuracy for plinking can I undercut them 10 or 15 thousandths so they maybe I can get a few uses out of them without having to trim them every time. They said yes.

Any reason I shouldn't under cut them? (remember... this is just for plinking).

If you trim them too short you will lose neck tension and your bullets will get pushed back inside the case. (Ask me how I know lol) Don't do it. There are reasons the specs are 1.750 to 1.760. Get a dillon auto trimmer and run it each time you reload. Thats what I do and its fast.

    Pat,

what do you think with regards to the RCBS X DIE, as per instruction, initial trimming is .o2 from max lenght which is 1.740. any opinion on this

  2. Hi,

Need your advice and opinions with regards to this set up,

Contemplating of buying a complete upper to alternate with my 16inch bbl upper, thinking of getting a 10.5. I know its not the best alternative for a 1911 to have to 2 slides with 1 receiver, but how about an AR, will it affect the original fit of the origianl upper?

One more thing, how about using 1 BCG for both uppers. I will eventually will get a separate dedicated BCG for both uppers, when the wallet permits, thanks

  3. lol, it took me 10 months to complete this rifle, funds are very limited, kidding aside, I used the sprinco action spring based on my buddys recommendationed, maybe would try to used the Vlttor spring, my rifle is not a safe queen, fired almost 500rnds in a month, just doesnt like the marks on the gun. thanks for the replies.

  4. I am also using the A5 kit, but I replaced the action spring to a Sprinco green coded, but everytime I used a 5.56 round the ejected brass is hiiitng my forward assist housing, which causes some marks,I dont like beacause its a new Noveske rifle, will Installing the Vltor A5 spring solved this problem? By the way, with a 223 round, the ejection angle is more on the 3 oclock to 4 oclock angle which is just perfect for me, your feedback is highly appreciated. thanks

  5. Hello,

My midlenght 14.5 Ar ejection of the brass especially the 5.56 rounds to 5 Oclock angle, not so much with the 223 ammo, in fact its ejecting at a 3 0clock to 4 oclock. Right now the ejected brass is hitting the forward assist housing and causing some scratches , which I dont like because this is a new rifle, just got it a month ago.

this is how my rifle is set up,

Vltor standard A5 kit , but replaced the action spring to a Sprinco green spring , I still have the vltor spring that comes with kit, should I replaced the spring back to Vltor and maybe a heavier buffer.

    thanks

  6. Hello,

I am turn between Larue 129 aimpoint mount which has a centerline of 1.70- 1.75 , and still be able to see my front sight(lower 1/3), and Bobro 180 cantilever mount, Can anyone please share or tell me the centerline height of the Bobro180.If you have some pics to share that would be great. just want to see on where the front sight and dot correlation. thanks.

  7. it started with a Millenium titanium comp, unfortunately it cracked, tried the bedell comp, although it shoot flatter but the recoil still hits on my hand , thats when I decided to put a hole in the bbl. Because I have a spare EGW comp(0n the Pics) we decided to try using . this time it shoots more flat with a little slap on the hand, the last port on the bbl. improved the recoil. I just mentioned the comp aspect, dont forget about the spring and load combo. finally it shoots softer and flat. with Vhit. N350 and HS7, I am lucky that my smith is very accommodating.I guess everybody has its own setup and concept on an open gun. I can never be more happy of my setup right now.

  8. This is my 9major set up with bbl ports,

Schuemann Hrbrid 4 port 2 machine, holes size 3/16,9/64, with EGW COMP 6CHAMBERS 4 TOP ports,4 side ports, Projectile-Zero 125c, OAl 1.175, Powder HS7 9.8GR. pF 173, Same spec as above but with Vhit N350,7.5gr. PF 170.. The 7.5gr. N350 shoots softer, Flatness are almost the same. By the way, I am using 8lbs of Sprinco and ISMI recoil springs and 17lbs main springs also from ISMI

  9. On an earlier post of mine, I inquired about Akai , I dont want to put this 2 builders in one post to avoid builder loyalty, I know this 2 builders are both top notch. So my qustion or inquiry is about experiences of B Kiegan/Freedom 9mm major open gun. Again my thanks for all your inputs.

  10. I am shooting right now a full size 9major, with a schuemann rib bbl. I just switch from a midsize 38super. I"ve been shooting open since the 90"s , and they are the old power factor of 175. Personally, and in theory I beleive the supers is the ideal for an open caliber, but its the brass that let me switch to 9mm major, that the reason I am posting this quwstion to ask you guys your experience. caliber/ models wise,
