  1. +1 Do you have to break stages down a little different in SS, maybe some, but really you are just reloading everytime you move and practicing your reload will take care of that. But really whatever division you shoot in if you don't have the basics down, then it doesn't matter what you are shooting. Exactly, the main thing i keep in mind on every stage is mag change just before i move or on the move
  2. I just got my ed brown oversize mag release from brownells. After installation my mags will not go in without pressing the mag release first, these are supposed to be drop in but i know nothing is drop in. Ive never fitted a mag release before, can anybody point me in the right direction to get started.
  3. I recently started shooting SS, coming from shooting a G34 in idpa. In SS you have to rehearse the stages really well, most stages ive seen are sutup for limited and open unless your at the single stack nationals. Thats why i like SS more than ony other division, and i can also bounce back and forth from SS to CDP in idpa and take all my procedurals for dropping loaded mags.
  4. I started out with a taurus pt-1911 cause of the price, now that same gun the only thing left stock is the frame and slide. I would recommend the best bang for the buck would be sprinfield
  5. It took me a long time to figure that out. But now i can see it, I thought speed was all speed but finally realized that just being quick and relaxed i was much faster with less fumble during every aspect of my shooting. It feels like im going slower but the times dont lie.
  6. I'm the same way. I shoot handguns right handed. Just feels natural. I shoot rifles and shotguns left handed though. My AK blasts me in the face with all kinds of nasty stuff. I would like to have an assault rifle built for a southpaw someday I thought i was the only one that shoots left handed but every other thing i do is almost right handed, I had a rock river custom built for lefty with ambi everything, i didnt like the ambi mag release because it was so far forward i had to totally lose my grip to reach it, but i did like the fact that i didnt have to worry about getting pelted in the face with brass. The funny thing was watching right handers try to shoot it without getting brass in the face.
  7. you learn from mistakes, and it seems i make alot of them still
  8. i am left handed and i shoot glock 34 and 1911 in uspsa and idpa. I lay my trigger finger right on top of the slide release while using my second finger to release the mag, in doing so as soon as i slam a magezine home the slide release is automatically engaged making my slide lock reload faster with less movement to do. I also have a XD45 that has a ambi safety but i dont use it, when i use the ambi safety i have to change my grip just a bit to reach the safety, i actually feel like i have an advantage being left handed with reloads.
  9. I watched a les bear go down at the last match all because the wilson buff split in two, Im going to try them only to see if there is a noticable difference in recoil
  10. thanks for the advice i found alot of topics for them right after i posted(go figure)
  11. I recently bought some wilson shok buffs for my gun, have not got to try them yet but recently at a local match i watched a les bear FTF on 3 stages. Later i talked to him come to find that his shok buff came in two, he uses clp which has a cleaner in it and had quite a few founds on it. Anybody have any comments on these are they worth using them or just a waste of meney
  12. HEY EVERYBODY, ive known about this site for about a year now, ive been a member for a little bit know but finally going to actually be active on the forums. Ive been shooting idpa for about two years now, but here recently wanted to try uspsa single stack, Ive finally found a group to shoot with for uspsa{piney woods action shooters), got to go to match today and realized what i had been missing out on. Hope to get and maybe pass on some good info from fellow members.
  13. I like the squared trigger gaurd cause i have big hands it helps with my index
  14. I am looking to upgrade my single stack pistol. I am currently running a taurus pt1911. Dont really like this gun that much, I looking for a custom sti with a squared trigger gaurd, the only one i can seem to find is the rangemaster has anybody seen this gun in action.
