Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Another Dumb question, but is there such a thing as a lefthand/ambi magrelease for 1911 and/or 2011 pistols? I know alot have ambi-safetys, but I don't recall ever seeing the mag release. Any one?? Bueller????
  2. Haven't started reloading yet, but I see the need to in order to keep costs down
  3. Did you do your check with Rick? He went through it with me about a month ago. That's all it took for me to know that I NEEDED to do IPSC!!! We'll have to shoot together some time. Warren. Warren - Yeah.. I did my check with Rick. GREAT guy and very knowledgeable and helpful.
  4. I was shooting in the limited class. I'm currently shooting a Glock 35 with a few mods. Next mod is going to be new sights, as the factory sites I do NOT like!!!
  5. Welcome I'm from Lynden myself. I'm just getting started in the soprt and shot my very first match yesterday. I had a BLAST (Pun Intended). Started off a little rough with some ammo feeding issues. I bought some different factory ammo (BAD IDEA) and it wasn't cycling. I had enough crap rattling around my head to deal with and really didn't need that. Changed out the recoil spring and problem solved. I liked all the stages except for Stage 5 I think it was. I was totally lost, but gave it a good try.. Met some great guys and learned alot. Everyone was VERY helpful with tips & suggestions. Can't wait to do it again!!!! PS: The Powerfactor show was most helpful and thanks guys for all the info!!!
  6. Good luck tomorrow and welcome! Got my safety check out of the way. A lot to process in a short period of time.
  7. Wurm - That's an excellent breakdown. Thanks for taking the time to type it all out!!!
  8. Dude - you and I would make a great team, were both messed up . I'm predominately left handed, writing and so forth, and shoot left handed. However, I play sports right handed, football, baseball, etc. I was all jacked up when it came to raquetball. Had the control with left, but power with the right The main reason I asked is the slide release. Dropping mags isn't all that difficult, but I had been using my trigger finger to release the slide and the glock slide release is a tough mofo. Hopefull it's because the gun is new. I have a Kimber Pro Raptor II that I can release the slide like butter using the same method. Anyways, thanks to all of you for your insight and tips!!!!
  9. Just found out that I have my safety check tomorrow. Whoooo Hoooo. Wish me luck!!!
  10. The local match is @ Custer which is what I'm attepmting to shoot at. That is all hinging on me completing my safety check prior to the match of course. If I don't get it completed in time, it will allow me some more practice time until the next match, which in spite of me being all excited to be able to shoot, is not a bad thing.
  11. They say that 10% of the population is wrong-handed. Lucky for me, I'm one the "special" people living in a right-handed world. So my question relates to mag & slide releases. My Glock 35 has an extended slide & mag releases. I have been using my left index finger to operate both, but that forces me to have to cgange my grip up in order to do so. Maybe that's just the way it is. Any other "special" people out there with any expereience or tips?
  12. So a good buddy says to me; "Hey, you gotta come shooting with me, it's a lot of fun". So, me being easily "mislead", showed up to a couple compeitions and well..... as my namesake implies, I was hooked. Said buddy assists me in pointing out the gear I need and I came away with what I feel is a pretty good set-up. Glock 35, Blade-Tech holster & Mag holders attached to a CR Speedbelt and few mag extenders. Good start I feel. What my former buddy neglected to point out is all the ammo you go through in a match. I was too busy having WAY too much fun to actually count rounds fired. Well that, and I did go to public school My long lost buddy did pull the trigger on a Dillon reloader to assist in keeping the cost down, maybe because he felt back for sucking me into this sport in the first place. Or maybe he just wanted some company in the doghouse. But seriously, I'm hoping to shoot my first match this weekend if it works out. Looking forward to learning lots.
