  1. Hi Guys, I had a para p14-45 LS which i converted to 40 because of the round count advantage. I did this by using a 6" barrel from a prize table, but had difficulty sourcing a 6" slide so i bought a 5" Caspian. Here is a picture of what it looks like. Is this legal in USPSA Limited Division? They were ok with it at Area 1 match, but another shooter told me that depending on the mood of the RO, they may or may not accept the gun as legal in Limited class. i looked in the rule book regarding barrels but its rather vague. In Limited Division Appendix D2 - Replacement barrels: provided they are the same LENGTH as original factory standard. Technically the length is the same, but not the caliber. I also modified my frame to a long dust cover, ala STI but i dont think that matters, i'm more concerned about the barrel length. I'm shooting an area and section match pretty soon. THanks!
  2. hello, after tuning your striker safety, did it stop doing the light primer strikes in the cold? I was only visiting cold weather, so am unable to test it again. springfield said there should be absolutely no oil in the striker pin channel, because when its cold, the oil gets sticky and causes lots of drag. i just bought a new EXTRA POWER striker spring from Springer and hopefully that will take care of it. will test it by putting gun in the freezer and shooting it
  3. thanks guys, i shaved off more of the overtravel hump and it works great even on a cold gun and in weak hand too. previously, when it got really cold, it wouldnt fire, so i just took more off. About the legality of the PRP trigger with the hump in USPSA production class- i emailed PRP, and he said that "hump trigger" is actually an OEM part on the following model numbers: xdm-1931 xd-9131 xdm-9121 xd-9121 I also emailed Springfield to verify and they concurred - it is correct. They even said that their website doesnt show the hump trigger because they took those photos prior to using the hump trigger in their guns, and didnt bother to update the site. This means that this sweet-shooting trigger is legal. WOOHOO!! I am going to print the springfield email and put it in my range bag, just in case some evil RO's give me problems next year
  4. Hi, What did you mean "I'm surprised that you're not getting any light primer strikes."? I just recently started experiencing that, and did not connect it to me installing the new PRP trigger kit. now that you mentioned it, it started happening just around the time when i installed the trigger. Is something I did causing it not to strike the primer properly? I just ordered a new xtra power spring from Springer Precision because i thought the spring wore out. ANyway, another question for you guys - is this legal in production? because an RO told me it was not due to the bulge at the back of the trigger, which is not visible in the stock trigger. Thanks Got to shoot it so more today and I like it. I realized it was more the 125g rounds that was causing my finger to hurt. I shot some 115g rounds and not a problem. I'm still having issues with it not firing when i push the slide down or rest it on a gun rest so I emailed him and hopefully hear from him tomorrow for this fix. Nice trigger though Your problem is due to the over travel stop. You need to file more off of it. I'm surprised that you're not getting any light primer strikes.
  5. do you still burn squirrels?

  6. Thanks guys! i just had to be sure i interpreted the current rule book correctly. I have the newest edition. i just started shooting, so its the only edition i know I'll have to put that rulebook in my rangebag. or better yet, on my ipad so i can just "find" the word "disappearing" (or whatever is in question) and not have to flip through pages to find the rule pertaining to it
  7. I was at a match this weekend, and there was a disappearing target (starts with back facing you. When popper is engaged, the target flips to face you, then flips backwards again, then flips to face you, then flips backwards again and stops). It stops showing its back to you. By my understanding of the rules, as long as it STOPS in a postion where there is no A zone (or highest scoring zone) visible, its counted as disappearing. However, one of the veteran shooters, who is also an RO, said he was 1000000% sure that if the target shows itself MORE THAN ONCE, from hiding, therefore giving you MORE THAN ONE opportunity to shoot at the A zone, it is no longer counted as disappearing and you will incur the FTE penalty and Miss penalties if you cant shoot at it fast enough. He also gave another example - he said at a previous match he was at, there was a running-man target that slides along a rail and ends hidden behind a barrier. However, along that rail, there are 2 barrels. The target gets hidden while it passes behind the barrels, and then visible again after the barrels. Because of this, you have 2 opportunities to shoot at the A zone, and because there were 2 opportunities, it is not counted as disappearing even if the target eventually rests/stops behind a barrier and is no longer visible. Did he memorize this from an old rule book or am I missing something? By the way, everyone on my squad this weekend was able to shoot twice at the "disappearing target" so it wasnt a big deal, but I would like to know what the real deal is, for future reference
  8. OOPS, i was looking at the IPSC rulebook, not the USPSA rulebook. It was a USPSA match. But either way, yes, it doesnt specifically say to ignore the highest/lowest shots so the order to reshoot was correct. Thanks guys!
  9. Hello! Today i was asked to reshoot after my front target got 3 shots, and my rear target got 5 shots (3A, 2C). I directly shot the front target 3x, and the rear target 2x. When they were scoring, they couldnt tell which of the 5 shots on the rear target were NOT the pass through shots, so they had me reshoot. In the rulebook, it says in 9.1.6.1 to ignore the highest scoring hit(s) in this case - 3 Alphas, and my score would be 2Charlies regardless of what I actually directly shot at the rear target itself. However, rule 9.1.6.1 is only for HARD COVER pass throughs, and not Impenetrable Pass throughs. What do you think?
