After I swung the half moon in place I didn’t have any more issues with it throwing the primers. BUT for the first time today I had two primers go off as they were getting installed into the brass. That part sucks, thank goodness for PPE.

I bet that the brass was NT.

Weigand sold that to Bowen. I would like to get a few if they're not too expensive. I could make my own, but have a lot of other stuff going on right now. Easier to just buy it.

When do Jack sell to Bowen?

I have a weigand base and it looks great on the 686 than had the barrel shortened.

I think it's good practice to warn people. You're right you shouldn't need to but a little extra help to avoid pointing your gun at yourself doesn't hurt anything. Plus when you do DQ someone (and at a major you probably will) you can say "hey I warned them"

I was at a major once and they even let us "air gun" one part. It was a door you had to open on the 180. It made sense to me to let people do that instead or risking a unsafe situation happening.

I do agree with you and I do give the warning, but at the Nats and SS/EX and above should know the rules.

As I said before, IDPA  doesn't follow their own rules at the Nats.  A  DQ for safety  isn't negotiable.

They absolutely do wear out. It’s very noticeable when using an automated press and coated bullets. Bullets will start tipping and getting shaved while seating.  Replace the funnel, problems go away..

At no point did I say that they didn't wear out, I said mine haven't worn out, I have over 300000 rds on my 9mm, about 100000 on the 40S&W, about 150000 on the 38Sp and about 100000 on the 45ACP.

In normal times, maybe.  In times of shortages?

This is the 3rd serious primer shortage I've seen in my 50 years of shooting.  During the first one, back around 2006/7/8?, I found 3 Fed Match SPP's that had deformed cups or deformed/missing anvils from the box.  I'd had a couple of misfires the previous few hundred rounds and started inspecting the primers before loading them into primer tubes.  Found the 3 from within a certain flat.  Now I do it religously and found another during the last drought.

This is the longest drought I've ever seen though!  I've not seen any issues with the Fed's I have now.

BUT the new RP Primers won't work at all with any kind of 9mm crimped primer pocket, I've tried swaging multiple times even.  Seems the cup is just slightly larger.

The new CCI's over fill my Dillon Primer Storage Tubes at 96 too?  Seems they have the anvils set just a shade higher, they also take a different setting on the 1050 to get seated as deep as the Fed's.  They both work once loaded.

Another note, I've been told by some Industry guys that most Case Manufacturers are going to switch their 45 ACP & 10MM Cases to Small Pistol Primers!!!

I remember the shortages when I couldn't get any Federal primers, so I started setting up my revolvers to set off CCI's.

I never had a problem with the Fed's and I load the in NT brass.  I used a 1050 since 2006.  Mind you, the latest Fed NT brass, the crimped primer pockets have started to pi$$ me off in that I chuck them in the scrap brass bin.

Found out you need a guide collar around the screw driver close to the stock bolt so the screw driver does not slip out of the screw slot. You also have to put a lot of pressure -beef-on the screw driver. Maybe use a bitt brace if you have one.

The screwdriver head with the collar guide is helpful but not required.  I've removed many extremely tight stock bolts with a large screwdriver with a square shank and vise grips, also a screwdriver socket with an extension and ratchet.   You just take your time and be careful.

Now, now, Moto, IDPA now has fault lines with ZERO relationship to "cover" and the recent AC's letter makes ESP nearly as wide open as Production.

There, I fixed it for you!🤣
