I guess I'm missing why a gun built with great parts from only 1 manufacturer is superior to a gun built with great parts from different manufacturers?
Because they maintain control over the specs and QC of the parts. They don't vary from lot to lot, which gives them the ability to consistently build perfectly fit pistols.
THIS!!!! this is a perfect explanation. if you machine all of your own parts and control all machining tolerences and specs....everything can be built to perfection.
i have used a LOTS of egw and sv parts... sv is superior. ive yet to have a sv part that was out of spec........not the case with egw. egw i decent stuff, just not the level of svi parts.
after purchasing just parts from brandon at infinity for a couple of years.........i finally bit the bullet and had him do me up a custom carry. my sole reason for buying a gun from svi when i myself build them is the amazing quality of all of their parts. they are second to none in quality. i currently literally own over 30 1911/2011 pistols and i built all but 6 or so of them myself. if their craftsmanship is as good as the quality of their parts............itll be the best quality pistol ive ever owned.
i have one on order and hope to take delivery of it sometime in april. my order was for a custom compact carry and my order just broke the 4k mark. brandon is great to work with and i definintly recommend you submit a quote for a build.it is a very easy process.
ive used both......i prefer shuemanns barrels, they are a good bit easier to fit and my personal expereience is that the schuemann is more accurate. also another worth mentioning is kart.........hard to beat a kart barrel for accuracy. in my guns a kart and schuemann are very close with a small edge going to schuemann.
i built a 4.25" with a hybrid barrel, infinity slide and para ord p13 frame. i have several thousand rounds through it and no loss of accuracy whatsoever. i also have on order a svi carry high cap with a hybrid barrel....i have heard or seen no issues with the hybrid barrels losing accuracy. i guess if you had a subpar material slide maybe.....
this is really helpful to me! i sure appreciate your sharing this info....... i have been struggling with getting the fit just right with a .199 or .200 pin. this will save me a great deal of time when fitting
So, what did you buy??? Rock Island, Iver Johnson? I do know how you feel though...being a perfect person in an imperfect world is a bit of a pain
ACTUALLY............................HE BOUGHT A KIMBER!
