Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Thanks guys I will post pics later showing why.
  2. Wondering if I am the only one who uses there middle finger as there trigger finer? My fingers are super short and using my middle finger just feels more natural to me then my index finger. Any pros or cons to this?
  3. Will post an update shortly as I have been getting a little more done before sending it off for the barrel work.
  4. I watched this guys videos and figure what the hell if he could do it why not give it a shot. His barrel install is what made me really research and realize that I would rather have a good smith do it right the first time. I am doing this all by hand. No mill and almost none of the correct tools! Only specific tool I have used so far was this file from brownells. http://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-tools-supplies/handgun-tools/slide-tools/1911-auto-slide-frame-rail-file-prod849.aspx The Tri-Top and Serrations where done by a friend.
  5. Update 01/20/14: Been away for a few months but starting to get back at it a little with this. Slide work was machined by a buddy of mine. Went with the Tri-Top look and some deep serrations. Serrations will extend into the front of the frame after we get the barrel installed and such. Have a few more misc. parts I need to order. Went with a Cylinder and Slide Match Trigger.
  6. I think the Bushnell DMR is hard to beat for the price. They track great and are very reliable. Glass leaves a little to desire but they get the job done. For $1200 that is what i would go with. IF you bump it up from there and dont need FFP then get the NF. Vortex has two new Razors coming out next year but they are $2k+.
  7. I would say use it till it craps out. I am not a fan of Millets but if its all you got just run it till you get upset about missing!! Then replace!! Do you have any plans for upgrading? If so what would your budget be?
  8. Not sure if I asked the right question. I want to make sure the sight will work after I Tri-Top the slide. Will a Normal Dovetail still work or will there not be enough material left?
  9. Hey guys still getting all my parts. I have tried figuring out what sights I need but I cannot seem to get a good answer. I am having a buddy Tri-top my caspian slide and need to know what front sight I should go with. No sight cuts have been done yet it is a bare slide. Going with a Bomar on the rear. Thanks for any feedback.
  10. I like the price of the KKM. Was originally thinking of going with a Schuemann. Any thoughts on the two?
  11. Thats exactly what it looks like! Thanks for clearing that up! I am out of town for about 2 months so the project is on hold till then. I sent out the slide to a buddy to get the site cuts and have it Tri-topped. Will post pics when he gets it done. But until then I will be ordering more parts. I come from the precision rifle world and we dont skimp on barrels. Should I go top tier or is there something else I should be looking at? Not looking for a match gun just a decent shooting barrel.
  12. Straightup the only thing I noticed on this frame was on the right side where the safety goes it looks like the tooling went all the way through. I dont think its a big deal but was not sure. Will try to post a pic.
  13. I did not. I believe I bought it off a gentleman on here.
