  1. I don't really see that or get the point of another one of the same forum. It's very SIG-oriented. I will admit, however, that one of the longest threads over there being entitled "You will buy a Glock", and it being started by the owner of the site himself, is damn funny.
  2. I'm not military nor was I taught by anyone who was, but I detail strip all of my gear after a trip to the range. I know my SIG will run just fine with or without the cleaning but I do it anyway. I do it because I'm OCD and can't help but think all the carbon fouling in the grease makes it wear faster, whether or not that has any basis in reality
  3. x2, goddamn. Edit: got 57!
  4. I've seen 3 Tanfoglios being used in competition. I've also seen 3 Tanfoglios being used in competition having reliability problems of some kind. I wanted to get a Tanfoglio too, until that. YMMV of course, I'm sure Eric Grauffel wouldn't be winning so much in Europe with a gun that didn't work 100%.
  5. Look, I'm no expert, and I've been shooting competitively for even less than 6 months, but you've gotta relax and stop trying so hard. Conscious effort is not going to get you there faster - you'll find the switch as soon as you stop looking for it. How good were you at riding a motorcycle after doing so for 6 months? Give it a little more time. I dig "look at nothing, see everything" too. Awesome.
  6. Here's another good freebie video. Max has smaller hands too and you can see him breaking his grip on the reload.
  7. I'm not sure if this means anything, but I've been doing some googling for the past few days and this just popped up in the last few days: http://shop.ombguns.com/p-857-glock-gen-4-g34-competition-9mm.aspx I've been waiting impatiently for them as well
  8. I wasn't being clear, what I meant to say was that I reload at full speed with no problem in matches, but I have a hard time with it during dry fire. Same speed... at least I think. Maybe it isn't... Definitely trying too hard though.
  9. What has been surprising me over the past 3 matches (I just shot my 7th today) is how well I've been doing things under pressure. I do alot of dryfire practice at home, especially around draws and reloads, and it seems as though I'm much, much worse doing them at home than doing them in a match. Whether it's because I hashed the grip on the mag from the holster or missed the magwell, either way, I don't have ANY of these problems in competition, they're all smooth and effortless, even on the move, and I don't have room to practice reloading while moving. It doesn't seem to matter, it just happens on it's own. What I've been made distinctly aware of is that it's not me I'm teaching how to do these things. It's my animal brain, or subconscious, or whatever. That said, I shot one stage today with a series of 10+ Alpha Charlies all in a row, so I do have alot to work on in terms of transitions and trigger control. And I haven't even hit the halfway point of BE's book yet.
  10. It amazes me on a daily basis how similar this sport is to riding a motorcycle.
  11. I had a FTE on my very first stage of shooting competitively (about a month ago). What was weird is I heard Travis Haley from Magpul Dynamics' voice in my head yelling STRIP IT, RACK RACK RACK, FEED IT FEED IT!! I never even took any of their classes, just watched the DVD (Art of the Dynamic Handgun). It's not something I had practiced extensively - like draws or reloads - but I got the gun up and running surprisingly quick and shot the rest of the course clean. I think the key is to be present. Don't get preoccupied with a malfunction, concentrate on shooting. I don't think it should enter your mind while planning for a stage. And don't freak out if it happens. Worked for me, I didn't even finish last on the stage Also, just today I saw a guy DQ'ed for an AD while clearing a malfunction. Don't do that, keep your booger hook off the bang switch
  12. Said Bruce Gray even carries one for duty use FWIW. (But he has small hands.) They're great guns, I'd carry one (and shoot one in competition) if my hands weren't so huge.
  13. Thanks! I read your post about doing a trigger job on them, I might take you up on that
  14. Been having a hell of a time finding these online, anyone have any ideas?
  15. That link didn't work for me, but this one did: An idle brain may be the self's workshop Very cool article!
