Jim, from a little Googling, it looks like you might try something right around 3 grs to start and go from there with Chrono and keeping an eye out for pressure signs. Seems that the low case volume and heavy bullet may be a questionable pairing for higher PF, but may be fine for minor.

How would the oyster shell work? Seems it would be plenty abrasive. What about sand?

Last 2 guys have right idea. Lighter projectile with more slower powder to produce as much gas as possible to make the comp function. Think 155 gr or lighter.
-
TG probably will NOT be an optimal choice.
-
.5 gr is a 12.5% jump in powder charge. I wouldn't suggest posting that you "suspect" it woukd be fine when you don't know/have all the details. All that said, try the charge for the lighter projectile over a chrono and see what you get. I can say that I've loaded a bunch of cast 200, 215, 225, and 230 gr cast bullets with BE for a number of different pistols.

+1 for M&P 45.

Add me to the list of those who would be interested.

Your gear will be perfectly fine for local matches. That rifle will probably give you fits with longer-range targets, but for shorter-range locals, it may be fine. Dont get too caught up in the divisions when you're getting started. At most locals there are only a few in each division anyway. Run what you have for a few matches and see what you like and don't. If you aren't ever serious about winning major matches you may be content to just keep running what you have and having a blast.

Works great! Just like the Bolens from before TTI. This is assuming you are running 140mm mag tubes.

Full length sizer. I use a small base, but many say not required. Crimp die to prevent set back from recoil while in magazine. I would also suggest a chamber checker/case gauge.

And...WDE!!!

I've heard it said that "luck" is the product of thorough preparation meeting with great opportunity.

I have to mention Precision Tactical in Crestview FL. Ward Lewis (proprietor and coater) is doing some awesome work with Cerakote. Multiple colors, blended colors, etc. Check out their FB page to see some pics of his work.

Not sure how much you've been playing with the trigger group, but if you read onto the 2nd page of the link posted above, you will come to a post regarding the exact orientation on the tubes with retaining clips that go into the trigger assembly and the pins that hold the assembly in the receiver.
As best I can make out, the clips should be on the "bolt release" side of the trigger group, and the end of the pins with the extra grooves should be on the same side to be retained by those clips.

Anybody have need for a roommate for this match?

There was most definitely a company making a transparent tube. I wanted to try to get one, but I was concerned about durability.

I would suggest using your existing barrel until you feel that it is holding you back. During that time you can work on deciding exactly what you want from your next barrel.

Anyone else had any luck with this issue? Solutions?

Start with a .40 charge weight and work up. Pressures should be fine with increased case volume.

You can probably get your answer by trying to load your shotgun with gloves on...

I have and have shot numerous versions of each. The M&P will make a substantially better competition gun. I've tried to make my H&K's competitive, but they lack the after market parts options.

Carbide for rifle dies is primarily just for longevity. Your process sounds fine. Semi-autos are funny, some more than others. I opted for a small base die to size down the case a touch further, but many will tell you this isn't required. And, rifle powder funnel won't do it, but you don't flair rifle cases before seating. Chamfer (and debur) of case mouth aids in bullet seating. A case gauge/chamber checker is handy for checking/testing as you get set up and for checks along the way. Just make sure that you only load a few to start with and make sure they work/run/feed/cycle before loading a big pile.

How do we get one over here on this side of the pond?

My suggestion was going to be simple...
Use less.

Part of JP's success comes from the way they set up complete uppers and rifles. The Kreigers and Criterions and other big-name barrels are often as accurate.
