  1. My belief is that there are going to be VERY few matches where anyone brings up that fact that you are shooting an "unapproved" gun. I ran my .40 Pro in Limited all last year. Nobody ever said a word. Unless you are concerned about winning Nat'ls or something like that, you probably have VERY little to worry about.

  2. Does anyone try to arrange the primers in a specific pattern to start with? I've tried that so that I can get some consistency with my transitions and be as efficient as possible with my movement.

  3. When I first started shooting pistols, I had an H&K USP in .40. That gun just runs. Always. Then I met a 1911; the trigger is the best out there. I immediately understood what people were talking about when they referred to the difference that a trigger could make. They are easy to find in .45 as has been mentioned many times in this thread, and they do run very well with that cartridge. I wanted one xx11 gun that I could easily run in USPSA(SS) and IDPA(CDP) and be competitive. I also run it in L-10 with Wilson mags, and this setup works for Heavy Metal in 3-Gun now that everyone is going to 10 rds in the pistols.

A couple guys joke about the "A-zone being bigger" with a .45, but that's true. It only takes a few points here and there to make difference. I used to shoot 3D archery, and I always used the fattest arrows that I could make fly straight with my setup. Larger diameter catches more lines. I tried fletching up a golf shaft one time, but it wasn't properly spined; go figure. And, those bigger, heavier bullets will drop steel with marginal hits. There is a lot to be said for the big ol' cartridge.

The .45 is FAR from obsolete!

  4. Does anyone know anything about the MS State 3-Gun that didn't happen last year? How about the Area 6 Multigun that never came about? I'm interested in shooting some matches, but it sure is nice to not have to travel all over the country every time I want to shoot a 3-gun/multigun match. Also, I have two babies and a wife who appreciates my help with them; I don't have to be gone as long for matches in the Southeast.

  5. I've been shooting for a couple years under the "tutelage" of the guys around Steel City in Birmingham, AL. I began my shooting career with scatterguns and clay targets, but quickly developed a love for action shooting. Now, I'm in debt from trying to fund my latest interest, Limited/Tac optics 3-gun. I've already learned a bunch on here and hope to be able to contribute as well. Thanks for the forum!
