  1. I would venture a guess that most of us have had this occur on one occasion or another. I can get 21 in my start mag, but the other day I left it on my belt at the start because I wanted the bigger mag later in the stage. It went like this:

Beep, bangbang, bangbang, bang-ding, bangbang, reload, bangding, click, rack slide, catch falling mag, reinsert, click, SMACK base of mag, rack slide, bangbangbangbangbangbang, expletive, expletive, etc.

ALWAYS make certain that ur reload mag has few enough rounds to be reloadable.

  2. +1 for the Proctor Sling. Frank kept it super simple with this design and the price is great too. Plenty of adjustment and holds up great. Easy to attach to most any long gun with or without "real" sling points.

  3. Precision Bullets have a coated bullet that I have been using for some time.

    BBI has great products.

Falcon Bullets are new to coating but have been around for a bit and they are another great option.

All these are suggestions for coated cast bullets. Not sure that you would have any less exposed lead with any of the thinly plated bullets.

  4. Nothing wrong with it at all, especially for matches where the max distance stays a bit shorter. In matches where you have to stretch out beyond 250yds, those bigger, slower projectiles really start penalize those who don't know their drops very well.

  5. Agree with others. You have plenty of gun to get started with. Just use the holsters/pouches you have. Figure out the rest as you go. Get someone to let you borrow a shotgun loading gizmo before you get invested in any one style.

Get confident with a 6" plate at 30 yds with the pistol, a 10" plate out to 400 with the rifle and loading the shotgun. Also doesn't hurt to know where shotgun slugs hit out to about 100 yds. Greatest bang for buck will be getting long-range rifle hits quickly and loading shotgun swiftly. Beyond that, just generally get faster with each weapon and you will be winning.

    Go shoot a match ASAP!

  6. You will likely not know the difference at the chrono. Only way to know for sure with your load is to run it over the chrono though. Some have said that this primer has a harder cup and can cause issues for some with light strikes. I never have had any issue with 'em myself.

  7. I agree with the above statement, and I also feel that this start allows for better control if the 2nd mag is needed for a reload. This way you grip the mag that you will be reloading with your left hand and can see what you're about to try to shove into the magwell.

  8. I would think that it may have something to do with canted bullets too. The ring you describe as being only partway around the case would be consistent. A different seating stem and/or a little more bell might help.

  9. Zack Definitely try a couple slight adjustments with the rounds before doing anything else if you're set on leaving the gun stock. Add a little powder, maybe .2 grs or so; shorten OAL a hundredth or 2. Most all of us run lightened recoil springs though, so nothing wrong with that at all. Some folk even cut a few coils off stock springs.
